They really need to win at least 10, having 3 NFL wins. 6-4 the rest of the way. I can find 6 wins, but it will require winning a few tough games, and also clean up against lesser teams

Jim Monos is One to Watch as a Future NFL GM
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll see where the perception of this team comes in. Win a few games, they are great. They may get to 5-2.... the hype will reach a fever pitch. Extensions to jauron and fitz. Im still waiting to see what happens when the bullets fly in the middle part of that schedule starting with new england. They win a few games in there and this team is different than the past -

Let's pump the brakes here... I loved the wins, Ill love the win Sunday and hopefully against Miami... a lot to like and I'm generally excited... but let's see if this team can sustain itself and perform against playoff caliber teams with good QBs. I remember not liking Marrone and after the Green Bay, some people here were telling me he was a COTY candidate... then they fell on their face in Oakland.... and everyone else turned on him as he left and it is wildly accepted gospel that he is/was a clown. I like how the team has played its way back into the season. Some bright spots and players out of nowhere (to us) who are performing. The team is going to have to win some games against good teams, and possibly on the road. Something this franchise hasn't been able to do under Whaley or anyone else for the last 16+ years. IF they get over that hump this season and become a playoff team. Whaley will get a lot of love from the NFL media.... and I will heap a lot of praise on him. If they fall on their face again and we are in the same spin cycle as usual... then what are we doing?

Which team will have the best season?

So far: Vikings - 5-0 Broncos - 4-1 Bills - 3-2 Browns - Browns -
They had no business winning that game

A win is a win. No style points.... especially in the road and on the opposite coast -

If I had to pick one of each: Best: Pearl Jam in Buffalo in 2003 Worst: Motley Crue and Kiss at Darien Lake a few years ago. Just not my thing. Overly choreographed and constant, hollow pandering -

I wanted him too... but I'm just a fan and wasn't privy to all the data on everyone. Justin Blackmon was also a cant-miss top of the draft WR prospect too who everyone thought would be great. IMO, unless you are going for and need a sure-fire QB prospect, always trade down. Any other position never seems like it is worth it most times, compared to having more assets. -

Or they could have traded a 6th rounder for Carson Palmer like the Cardinals did that spring... or even kept Fitz. Regardless though, my main point was, they traded down and it had large benefits. If they did the same in the Watkins draft it could have potentially set this team up for years -

I like his drafting for the most part. But if he is that good, and the scouting staff is bolstered with Pegula bucks... it would be better if he wasnt spending multiple picks on Watkins, Ragland, and Bryce Brown. Would rather he trade down and get more good players. One example is 2013 (a draft I put on Whaley for good and bad, its ludicrous to think he was bound and gagged while Nix forced picks on him). Traded down, still had a shot at a QB (wrong move)... but also was able to get Kiko Alonso, Marquis Goodwin, and Chris Gragg with the windfall... and also was able to pick Robert Woods, Meeks, and Duke Williams.... (Dustin Hopkins too who is good but Carpenter was un-cuttable) If Whaley has a knack for identifying talent, that is more the reason to stack draft picks. Imagine the assets they would have had if they had traded down from #9 in 2014 instead of up for Watkins. Still could have gotten Derek Carr or Kelvin Benjamin no matter how far they traded down, plus had a pile of picks, as well as hanging on to their 2015 1st and 4th... plus a whole lot more from the trade. -
the league brings it on themselves with this one. Randomly test for Marijuana on game days and make sure guys aren't playing stoned. Other than that, out of sight, out of mind. Don't need the bad press, need players like Dareus, Bell, Gordon, etc playing more. The majority of Americans would applaud the move

This can be debated. I think the better method IMO is trading down for max value and quantity. This standpoint is strengthened by the injuries to Ragland, Lawson, and Watkins. Lots of players get hurt in the NFL. Depth is critical. The gap between player skills is not all that great. What is between the ears is increasing in importance. It is all about who does the work for conditioning and preparation... and who has a coaching staff that best instills and demands that culture. You let players walk to save your cap and you have a good enough scouting staff and can sift through and find the right players to keep the engine running. -

Selective examples. Its a case of everything is perfect after a win.... similar to everything sucks the sky is falling after a loss. Its going to take a little bit to figure out how the bills are. They have a tough but winnable game in a very pivotal week 5... then need to take care of business vs san fran and miami. Then they have a stretch with top tier teams, lets see if things have changed and this season is new and improved... or if its the chef boy r dee that mom bought a 20 year supply of from sams club -
I hate Beckham. Been going on awhile. The NFL, seeing a star in the making allowed him to slide on everything and he quickly became more and more entitled and aggressive, until it ended up with a lot of egg on everyone's faces in that Panthers game last season. It seems like he doesn't get all the calls anymore and he cant take it. He has made an art form of that chicken-S move where after the play he quickly swings his helmet or mask up and hits the defender up in the chin, then trots away.

I agree with your attraction to NCAA Football. I really got into it about 10 years ago and it is a much better entertainment product. Im not bound to a team which is nice. Its also great that all hours of Saturday you have many games on... if a game stinks, you can find good ones. I also think that (like the NHL), the NFL players have become so efficient and built and conditioned like thoroughbreds. Players are so good and cancel each other out for the most part. All the teams are very similar. In college, you have a lot of players who can be exposed more, and it provides a much better, wide open game where anything can happen at any time. Teams can also be very different. A large part of boredom with the NFL for me is how the Bills have had the same vanilla season every year for almost 20 years. Really have had maybe 1 important late-season game where they held the hammer swinging playoff % in their favor. That sucks. Also being stuck in a Division with New England makes it worse because the bar is always so high. I find that my interest in the NFL increases quite a bit when the Bills had their 2 early-season runs. I tend to take a lot more interest in other teams' performance, not just due to fantasy/gambling reasons.

It seems like a real vanilla season so far...

A broad look at GM Candidates
May Day 10 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those receivers cost us a great deal of draft-assets though. And while their OL is protected by the quick release, they did have the NFL's leading rusher through week 3. You can also argue that Buffalo's OL is aided by an extremely mobile QB and one of the most elusive RBs. Anyways, like has been said by some. The NFL isn't so much a talent spread/gap as much as it is getting millionaire players and coaches to fully commit, do the homework, prepare, and execute. That is why NE succeeds. They get guys who will do that, and they have a coach who seems to be capable of drawing that out of players. The Bills may possibly have unified through the Thursday Night debacle and the following humilation and scrutiny. Rex may have found the nerve that gets the thing rolling. Very good signs in the last 2 weeks. Day off yesterday, everyone shows up.... Let's see if this season is different or they fall back to familiar patterns. -

While 0-2 was too early to make the full determination.... 2-2 certainly is too. If this team makes a run to 10-6 Ill be thrilled. Even 9-7 Ill be happy. 8-8 is OK too depending on the path taken. While I am ecstatic over that win, and the fashion of the victory.... I am hesitant to dance on the graves of the Patriots proclaiming the Bills are better. They are on pace for 12-4 with Garrapolo and Brissett. -
Did Belichick cost the Patriots?

it did seem like he folded up the tent and gave up way too early. If your going to give up, at least throw 3 points on the board and ruin the shutout -
Patriots Message board is fantastic right now.

the one I expected the flag on was the shove out of bounds (Preston Brown?). In real time it looked automatic.... however, on the replay it seemed like (Brown?) barely made contact at all, and Brisket was already falling/off balanced
