The Pegulas Bought the Bills Four Years Ago Today
May Day 10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The next couple years is critical in truly grading the Pegulas (on the field). The playoff berth was nice, but it was kind of the continuation of the same mediocre team. Eventually, odds were things would break in their favor and one of those 9-7 finishes would lasso a playoff spot (and impending 1st round execution). But they have put in their administration now, with no legacy held over from previous ownership (besides overdorf and I doubt he is controlling anything of consequence). We will see where this ends up. McDermott and Beane look promising in some ways, concerning in others. Come early 2020, I think it will be clear how this all went. The Bills will be either an emerging franchise, or a team with a lot of bad signings, stuck in the bottom third of the league, and again in need of culling a lot of bad dollars spent.... and still in need of a QB.... and probably joining the Gm/HC derby once again. The same thing with the Sabres. This whole rebuild after the rebuild has a limited shelf like as well, and it seems they will have some dollars and players entering their prime on time for the 2020-2021 season. If things arent better by then. By better, we are talking a solid playoff team, clear of the bottom third of the NHL. If not, we are looking at a full decade of ownership with nothing but disastrous. If both rebuilds work for the franchises (or even 1 of them), well, there is nothing to really criticize. -
The Walking Dead and the Whisperers

I was thinking the other day about this show (I bailed in season 4). It would have been much better if it were done as a season to season 'anthology' type of series that dealt with a number of different locations and timelines surrounding the 'outbreak'. Certain things could intertwine. Some effort could be made in some seasons toward identifying the origin of the disease or whatever... and also a possible solution/hope. the ongoing 'drama' marathon doesnt work for a zombie story. -

I think the entertainment dollars here are stretched thin with the sabres. I think they would need to depend on the same exact people who currently plop down $2-$5k on sabres tickets, to plop down the same amount, for 41 more dates, in the same season. I do think it would get very strong support in Rochester. Imo an mlb team would be better supported (than nba) because it is opposite season, and people like to be outside in buffalo in the summer. -
Someone needs to be fired over Mahomes right now.
May Day 10 replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you can make a case that the Bills could have a supporting cast for Mahomes, taking over this year from Tyrod of: Cordy Glenn, Dawkins, Watkins, Calvin Ridley, McCoy. Thats not awful. They could have kept Darby and not donked him off for Matthews (because they wouldnt have White). In any case, losing the pro bowl caliber G and C due to health is a gut punch and tough to recover from. Jury is still out, and likely will be out until the conclusion of next season. If not, the first half of the 2020 season. The one thing that continues to plague my thoughts is the apparent lack of a coherent plan to bring Allen along, and/or surround him with some sort of veteran presence. -

If i had to do anything, i would build a time machine and force russ brandon to offer money and organizational control to andy reid. Instead, they did one of their half step shuffles. Whaley moved from agm to gm, and brandon became no stone unturned guy. -
I like jeremy white for the most part... but cant take the recent talk about his golf game. I cant stand listening to anyone talking about their golf game.

Not all in until you get a face tattoo

IMO, this team is a lot better than those Drew Willy teams. They get through Army, Toledo, and Ohio, we may see an epic run to Top 25 and a "real" Bowl game. For the record, I do not like this game.

[Incomplete Title] Seven years ago today already..
May Day 10 replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks, I guess. It has just seemed like a different league/sport since then to me. Surge in popularity, fantasy football, broadcasting, social media, online wagering, rule changes, stability of markets/alignment/format, etc. It went from ultra popular to a complete weave into pop culture and everyone's conscious. It was different in the mid-late 80s and 90s. I think the 70s and early 80s are delineated from about 85-on as well, but I only really remember watching from about '85 on. It seems like Superbowl 20 and the "superbowl shuffle" created a new Renaissance. Just my opinion/view on 'eras' though in my mind. Back to the topic... that game seems bittersweet now. Great memory, definitely the best game I have attended.... but ultimately the Pats got the last laugh that year, and several laughs since. The Bills couldn't do anything with that fast start.... but we all kind of knew the pinball method they were winning couldn't keep going. -

I actually consider "modern era" to be about 2002, when Houston came in and the current alignment was instituted. -
To me, it is probably #1, but waiting to see how the Minnesota season shakes out, and if they are going to be that good. If there is one thing that held true throughout the post Music City Miracle years... it was that the Bills have not pulled many upsets, especially on the road. Last year, that is how the atlanta game felt... maybe the biggest road win since the Bills' drought started. That game required a bit of good fortune and 'puck luck', but they still won, and deserved to win. After that, I would say the Packers game, and the Patriots win.... but those were also pinball games where some zany plays, returns, etc created a perfect storm. This Vikings game was a beat down.

patriots demise is greatly Exaggerated

That was my take from the game. Speed of players wasnt even close on both sides of the ball, but Lions O vs Pats D was a mismatch. -

If a team can run like that and keep that fat, slow defense on the field and tired... it can be a formula to beat them. Not sure if this is the year that is the end. However, I could see the team imploding if things go south a bit more. They absolutely NEED Gronk AND Edelman on offense. -
Jimmy G carted off with torn ACL
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, they are very good at repairing the ACL. I had it done and I am 100%. Waiting and rehab does suck bad though. It doesn't necessarily mean durability. For me, I took down a tree in my yard, lots of leg work, especially my quads. Played baseball the following day. Planted after tagging a runner to throw to 2nd base, my tired quad which would normally take the job of stabilizing the planting leg bailed out, and as a result my knee had to do the job, buckled and in the snap of a finger, my ACL was blown. It could be just as simple as he needs to strengthen his quadriceps better. -
The Pats' day of reckoning is coming. And it will look the 'same', and people will talk them up about how this "always happens" and they will roll off 10 wins in a row (as if its easy). Every year they look weaker and weaker. That defense looks extremely slow. Watching the Jets' defense handle the Lions like a pop warner team just a few weeks ago... they were FAST. The Pats look sluggish, especially on D. On offense, it was never like this, but I dont think they can survive without BOTH Edelman and Gronk. The team has been allowed to degrade too much IMO. Its all Brady and Gronk and they cant always bail them out of trouble. If they were in a division that didnt include 3 teams perpetually rebuilding, they would be finished. That 4-6 wins and an easier road to a bye and home playoff games has fueled the machine.
