  1. Would like to see a similar move to last year, when we traded down. Perhaps the Cardinals, who are in need of a quarterback, would swap picks 9 and 20 with us in exchange for their second-round pick. Then with pick 20 we take an OL...perhaps Zack Martin of Notre Dame.
  2. HAHA. Sape is on Twitter. Has eight followers. Bio says he is a backup dancer. I'm not making this up.
  3. I stopped posting because of a few things. My role at work changed and improved, resulting in increased hours. Then my wife (who joined me at the TBD tailgate for the season-opening win over Seattle a handful of years ago) and I had two little boys and of course that changed everything. Those are the two biggest reasons. I do agree, however, that the losing has had an impact on why people have left or posted with less frequency. Losing brought out increased negativity and reading it (and even writing it) wears on you. It's bad enough to watch the team every Sunday; to spend the entire week talking about the levels of sucking brings it to a whole new, lower level. I still come by, every single day. I enjoy what many of you have to say and learn from your insights. When I have to miss a game, I feel like I can come here and get a pretty good handle on how the team played. As with many other people, I imagine my posting frequency would increase if we got to December and were playing meaningful games, or if we made the playoffs. (That will happen again one day.) But mostly, real life got in the way and that's why I'm not as visible as I used to be. For what it's worth, I enjoyed this season more than any other in recent years. For the first time in a long time, there's hope. The loyal fans of this team deserve a winner as much as any fan base in any sport. I hope that day comes soon for all of us, and I hope you all have a great 2014.

  5. I think you're being sarcastic (apologies if you're not). And to think this was before the league's lovefest with the Pats began. And how ironic that Pete Carroll benefitted from the terrible calls made in this game. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/scoreboards/1998/11/29/recap.new_england.buffalo.html
  6. Since we were last in the playoffs, I turned 30 as well. And 40. Sigh.
  7. By the end of the first quarter, I was on the phone with DirecTV, cancelling my Sunday Ticket. In fact I was so disgusted I went ahead and cancelled NHL Center Ice too. Don't need the aggravation and could use a few extra bucks in my wallet. Deep down, I know that the calls for 10-6 and a wildcard are far-fetched. We don't have near enough good players and our coaching isn't any good either. I know some will say it's only one game, but it's more like one decade to me. Nothing has changed. To all of you Bills fans who will spend your hard-earned money going to games or watching them on TV, I wish you all well. You all deserve greatness from this organization. Thank you SDS for keeping this site alive and thriving all these years. I've been around for about 15 years and am not active on this site much these days, but I stop by because we share the same passion for this team. But as the title of this thread said, this team sucked the football life out of me today.
  8. Indianapolis by way of Arkadelphia, Ark., by way of Augsburg, Germany, by way of Ayer, Mass., by way of Augsburg, Germany again, by way of Herkimer, NY.
  9. I like what I am hearing about Kuechly but not once did I watch BC the last couple of years and think to myself, "Wow, that guy is a stud." I have reservations but wouldn't be pissed if that was the direction we went in. As for your other four picks, simply put...no thanks. Jenkins is a turd and he isn't changing. The kid for Appalachian State would be a good value pick in the third round, but he isn't contributing in 2012. We need guys to help right away, not a fifth receiver/special teams guy. McCants isn't an upgrade to what we already have. Either is Wilson. What we need are five picks in the first four rounds who can contribute (significantly in some cases) like last year: Dareus, Williams, Shepherd, Searcy and Hairston.
  10. Can't imagine a worse schedule. -From a selfish standpoint, I think the only weekend I won't be in Indy is Thanksgiving Sunday. Naturally, that's when the Bills will be here. -I think we get off to a lousy start and will be completely out of the playoff hunt in mid-November (after the back to back road games in Houston and New England). -Then, when we start focusing on getting a top five pick, we get a pretty decent schedule down the stretch...just in time to screw the high pick up. I say we're 1-8 in mid-November (or 2-7 if we can come out on the positive side of a typical 5-4 game vs. the Browns) and finish with a winning record in our last seven games to screw up our draft position and give us all hope for 2013. We'll win 5 or 6 games. OR... We finally shut fatass Rex up and start the season with a win, continue our mastery of the Chiefs, beat the Browns 5-4, knocks off the Pats at home for the second straight year, get a split out west, get a win against the breasts (if the Jaguars can be Jags, the Titans can be breasts), watch in pure joy as Super Mario records five sacks in a win in Houston, lose to the Pats (of course; it's mandatory), and then go 6-1 down the stretch to get to 13-3 and get homefield throughout the playoffs.
  11. I wouldn't say Indy is big time but it's far from the outdated reputation of Nap Town/India-no-place. Most important, and I'm fortunate enough to know this first hand, the people know how to put on a major sporting event. They can thank the thousands of volunteers that pay attention to every detail. We know this isn't South Beach or New Orleans. We know we don't have San Diego's weather. But that doesn't mean you can't stage something special. Maybe next time (hoping here) Indy is awarded a Super Bowl, we'll have our typical February weather (20s and some wind and snow). But I guarantee things we'll go incredibly well because of the local organizers and volunteers.
  12. Bad news for all of you who ripped Indy as a Super Bowl city. Celebs, media, fans of the Pats and Giants, NFL execs, corporate folks...they're all singing the city's praises. Sure, we lucked out with incredible weather (at least for this time of the year), but it goes way beyond that. We know how to put on a major sports event in this town...even the biggest one of them all. Flame away if you'd like, but the city of Indianapolis wins. Only thing that could have been better is if the Bills were in it.
  13. He isn't doing the NCAA tournament anymore. He works for Fox exclusively now, after CBS didn't renew his contract.
  14. Not sure how it took 2+ pages to point this out. Thank you Ramius. If Jim Caldwell was a white guy, his name would be Dick Jauron.
  15. Came to TBD tonight to announce the birth of the newest Bills fan, as my second son was born this afternoon. Terribly saddened to read this news about Kent. Older fans loved him. You younger ones may not know of him as well as you know Kelly, Thurman, Reed, Bruce and others. But you should. Hell of a player and by all accounts a hell of a man. RIP.
  16. I often wonder if other fan message boards include so much obsession with players who used to play for their team, particularly ones who weren't any good. Nothing Aaron Maybin does can change the fact that he sucked while wearing a Bills uniform. Letting him go was a total no-brainer.
  17. Totally agree. Sure, we could have beaten Cincy and yes, we could have beaten the Giants. Make a play here, get a break there and we are 6-0. Then again, two good teams blew sizable leads against us and another team with far greater talent lost to us by a touchdown despite being a minus-5 in the turnover battle. So yeah, I'll take 4-2 as well, Rockpile.
  18. Welcome back, Olivier. Congrats on your success...but the Red Sox still suck.
  19. It got decent coverage in that Billick got excited. But if I recall correctly, it was the last play of the third quarter, forcing Fox to go to commercial and therefore limiting the replay and analysis opportunity.
  20. I'm just thinking in terms of a deep threat. A healthy Evans would give us that element, which I think we're going to need.
  21. Good post as usual, Bill. The offensive line, which I feared would be the reason we'd be a losing team, has been a huge surprise. I liked Wood and Levitre. After that...ugh. But those guys have stepped up big-time. As for Corner, I'll take the INT, but he had all sorts of trouble with Avant yesterday. We need McGee back to shore up the secondary. I didn't like the Lee Evans trade, particularly from the standpoint that I thought he was worth a 3, not a low 4 (which is what the pick ends up being with the Ravens likely headed towards the playoffs). Now I really don't like the trade, given all of our injuries to our receivers. Another no-name needs to step up, but I worry about our ability to stretch the field without Jones. Lots to like about this team. Go Bills!
  22. In a related note, this Bills fan was walking out of the Superdome, getting the play by play of the final series and then cheering like crazy when Lindell hit the field goal, drawing strange looks from happy Saints fans and dejected Texans fans. Pretty sure both of their fan bases thought I'd lost it.
  23. I will be watching from my I-phone, while at the Superdome (Saints-Texans game). Can't say I ever watched the Bills from another NFL venue where they weren't playing, but I have no choice.
  24. Ah, one of the biggest misconceptions about the NCAA. Conferences negotiate TV contracts, not the NCAA. (The NCAA does negotiate TV/radio/internet rights deals for its 89 championships but not the regular season deals.) The schools negotiate apparel contracts, not the NCAA. The NCAA has zero to do with a school's decision of how much to pay a coach. 96 percent of the revenue generated by the NCAA, most of which comes from its deal with CBS and Turner to broadcast the DI men's basketball championship, is turned back to all of its member schools and used to run those 89 championships. Men's sports. Women's sports. Division I. FCS Football (formerly known as I-AA). Division II. Division III. Basketball to bowling to rifle to skiing. Golfers. Tennis players. Rowers. Gymnasts. The NCAA pays for the travel, lodging and per diem for all of those athletes (more than 400,000 of them) to compete in those 89 championships.
