  2. Exactly. You can second-guess whether or not Miller should have been out of the crease, but you're missing the point. There isn't enough in front of him, particularly with the injuries. If anyone thought we were going to win after watching the first shift (which lasted a minute) of the second OT is nuts. It was obvious the entire team was exhausted. It was a matter of time before a fatigue-related penalty was going to end our night. Watch Satan after he gets the puck. He could have ordered a pizza before he went to the backhand. Myers, Lydman, Connelly and Grier...all in the general area, but none of them had the energy to do anything but watch.
  3. First of all, the committee does not look at past tournament performance or tournament selection. It never figures into the equation. But since you brought it up, this year there are far greater mid-majors (even though no one on the committee ever uses that label because each team is judged as an independent) than there have been the last few years. Gonzaga, Utah St., New Mexico, UNLV, BYU, UTEP, Xavier, Richmond...all at-large teams not from the power six conferences. That's twice as many as last year. If there was a bias towards power teams, wouldn't a 20+ win team that went 10-6 in the ACC been selected? How about a team that won its division in the SEC and came within an eyelash of winning the postseason tournament? Or a fourth-place team from the Big Ten? Bottom line is, you better play a good schedule out of the conference and you better show you can have some success on the road, in and out of your league.
  4. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. The selection committee consists of the most honest, hard-working group of people in athletics. IF there is tournament expansion, the mission will be the same....take the best at-large teams to complete the bracket and join the automatic qualifiers. Conference affiliation has NOTHING to do with being selected as an at-large team. NOTHING. Maybe you should get a clue, or at the very least stop listening to members of the media who don't have one. IF there is tournament expansion, the format will obviously change but there are not going to be "mid-majors" assigned to play-in games.
  5. Bracket times are going to be posted shortly. SU fans will have a long wait until their first-round game.
  6. Won't argue that the ACC isn't as good as the Big East. And you can't say Duke didn't catch a break, having to play Virginia, Miami and Georgia Tech to win the tournament. But they still did it. And the ACC did get six teams in the field...it's not as if we are talking about a league like Conference USA or a league similar to that. Enjoy the tournament, everyone.
  7. Duke, like Kansas and Kentucky, were rewarded for winning a strong conference PLUS winning their conference tournament. Syracuse got the nod over West Virginia for winning in Morgantown, and winning the Big East regular-season title by two games.
  8. Slightly better RPI, slightly better strength of schedule. Won 11 of last 12, with only loss at Maryland. You're really splitting hairs. There was a ton of discussion. In the end, they are both #1 seeds. What difference does it make if you go to Houston or Salt Lake for the regional? They got two home games in Buffalo.
  9. I had a dream last night that a hamburger was eating ME!
  10. I just have no use for people who criticize teams and players who achieve a sustained level of success and have a championship. Who gives a **** if the Colts have "only" one Super Bowl, or if the Braves "only" won one World Series in the '90s. They DID win one right? What's wrong with being a championship contender year in and year out.
  11. Which proves again that Pittsburgh is the best football town in the country.
  12. I have always worked in sports, and probably always will. In that sense, I am really lucky. But if I could do anything, I would like to be the radio voice of the New York Yankees.
  13. Indy is a decent football town, not great. The parade and pep rally in 2007 after the Colts' Super Bowl win was NOT poorly attended. Anyway, they sure love the team now, seeing how they are contenders year after year. And the team won't leave the city, not with the brand new beautiful stadium set to host this year's Final Four, the 2012 Super Bowl and other major events. I root for the Colts as my #2 team, but I remind all the people who call the Colts their #1 team that these are the good days. Enjoy every second of it, even if you come up short in a disappointing Super Bowl loss. Because there will come a time, in the not too distant future, where your future Hall of Famers and current Pro Bowlers will get past their prime and then retire. Then come the 4-12, 8-8 seasons...and you'll look back on these days and wonder if it will ever be nearly as good as it is right now.
  14. As someone who claims the Colts as a second-favorite team, I completely agree. Even made the comment to my friends towards the end of the second quarter. Brought back some bad feelings.
  15. As others have said, I think it's more a case of the Bills having little relevance. However, if/when the Bills return to the Super Bowl, I think we'll get America's vote in terms of rooting interest. People will want to finally see Buffalo get its championship.
  16. Now hold on. Sergio Mendes has a cult following. FRANK: What the hell did you trade Jay Buener for?!? He had 30 home runs, and over 100 RBIs last year. He's got a rocket for an arm - - you don't know what the hell you're doin'!! Steinbrenner:_________________
  17. Dwight Freeney Ed Reed Troy Polamalu Patrick Willis Ray Lewis Darrelle Revis Charles Woodson DeMarcus Ware Kevin Williams Nnamdi Asomugha Julius Peppers Adrian Wilson There, I just named a dozen players I like better than Jared Allen, including one defensive lineman on his own team. But he is a hell of a player. And there's no way you trade a marquee pass rusher in his prime, so you're absolutely right to ask the question. Then again, these are the Chiefs. Hell, we've beaten the Chiefs two years in a row.
  18. I was in town for a convention and went to the game. Sat center-ice, a few rows behind the Sabres penalty box. I would have to agree with you, Doc. While the crowd stunk in terms of numbers (and many of the fans were Buffalo fans), my buddy and I remarked that the Atlanta fans who were there actually knew the game. We were surprised by this. As a side note, we got to meet Rick Jeanneret right after the game, and then got to hang with Chris Butler and his dad and other family members before they boarded the bus for the airport. Pretty cool.
  19. For what it is worth, I am 99 percent sure Buccigross' comment about Perry staying on in Buffalo was a mistake. The comment was along the lines of, "We already know that Jim Zorn is likely gone from Washington, same with Fewell staying in Buffalo." It was evident to me that he meant Fewell was NOT staying.
  20. While I was stunned by the decision, after sleeping on it, I think Belichick thought his options were: 1. Go for it on fourth down, convert it and win the game. 2. Go for it on fourth down, miss it, and watch the Colts go 28 yards to win the game. 3. Punt and watch the Colts go 70 yards and win the game. In his mind, the only chance they had at winning was to make that fourth down. After thinking about it, I think I agree with him. If the Colts got the ball back, regardless of where the drive started, they were going to score the game-winning TD.
  21. Totally with you, Bill. If we don't fire him just as soon as the season ends and/or we take a DB in the draft, I'll be convinced that someone is clinically insane. Don't you miss the good old days when we could argue about Travis Henry?
