  1. He didn't drop. It was a legit strip from behind.
  2. Having watched EJ at FSU, I notice two things. Someone has screwed up his mechanics, royally. He is not letting the ball go very well when he has to check down, and he'd dumping too quickly. The latter I believe is a result of the coaches not letting him run. The reason he did so well at FSU was that when nothing materialized, he could rip off 10 yards easy with his feet. Defenses respected that and had to keep a LB in.
  3. Rooting for the Bills keeps me tied to where I was born and my earliest memories. I haven't lived in Buffalo since I was in 1st grade, but I've moved so much that I hate the question of "What's your hometown?" I just say I'm from Buffalo now. Go Bills!
  4. Can't blame the current group for the previous 13
  5. As someone who has watched Manuel play for a long time, this was not normal. Something was up and I'm not sure what. My guess is that he needed another week to get ready. If it helps, I don't expect to see something like this ever again. The man could get the ball downfield to some great FSU receivers. I expect he will rise to the level of this game. He's still better than the other two we have. Oh yeah, FSU's problem wasn't offense while he was there. Their defense (secondary) was awful.
  6. This is based on a lucky win on Sunday over a crappy team? Please. EJ still has some development, but he has a lot more upside than Thad. Anyone notice how many passes got batted away due to his height? How about the painful short passes that missed by a mile. EJ didn't light up the pass game, but he knows how to move in the pocket.
  7. I hate the fact that Gilmore has to play. Says a lot about our corner depth... Lewis was a horror show for most of the game, but came through big just enough times. Can't wait for EJ to get back! Dareus and K Williams are both playing too heavy. We need a real run-stopping NT/DT with Williams in on pass plays. Hated all the lateral pass plays. Do those EVER work? Glad for the win. I almost went to the game, but family kept me home.
  8. Let's not forget the great catch Stevie made for a TD. That wasn't easy.
  9. I was hoping for a pleasant surprise with a new staff, especially on defense, but the Washington game exposed a lot of lingering problems that can now be chalked up to personnel. Without a huge NT the run defense will continue to get beat up. We were weak at corner but not we're almost defenseless. They are going to blitz all the time. Not sure about the offense just yet, so we watch and hope for improvement.
  10. Time for some yard work. Scrubs on scrubs now.
  11. That would be awesome. You want to get EJ and Bradham fired up? Do the chop. Wish I could be at the game when that happens. Go Noles!
  12. +1 this. Wannstadt miraculously took some pretty good talent and created a bottom-of-the-pack defense. I think we do much better on defense simply from bringing in a DC who knows the modern game. The offense will struggle, but it will also shows flashes, I think. Keep expectations low and enjoy the season. Maybe we get lucky and get a WC spot. It has happened.
  13. I know people want a QB in the first round, but I think that might be silly. You play the draft like a hand in cards. Take the best of what is dealt to you. We need LBs and WRs worse than we need an OK college QB. I say wait until next year on that position. It's not going to matter in 2013.
  14. I've had the opportunity to watch Manuel for his whole career. He fits the new NFL QB mold - can run anytime for big gains and can pass well when needed. His receivers the last two years didn't help him out much and his line, while good, was ridiculously young. I'm not sure I agree with the new NFL QB mold, since most of these guys will be out of the game after a couple of QB options end up badly, but he's a gamer and I think he will succeed for someone.
  15. Sadly, this is what the first year of a change of culture looks like. I have to endure this with my Bills and Cubs. Saves me a lot of time in front of the TV while both organizations re-sod their lawns.
  16. Werner will be a star in the NFL. Grab him.
  17. I liked their first design, but the car company threatened to sue them as I recall. For those who want futuristic, just look at the logos that that have lasted. They are classy and timeless.
  18. I liked the 90s teams too, but remember that a lot of bad teams wore the red helmets too. Bring back the standing buffalo and some more wins and all will be well!
  19. Glennon won't hold up to the beating in the NFL. Just don't see it.
  20. The 3-4 requires a huge NT (don't have) and an all-star MLB (don't have)
  21. We might see a kicker drafted - Dustin Hopkinson (FSU)
  22. For those of you who follow more closely than I do, what are the deepest positions in the upcoming draft? Drafting for need is sometimes necessary, but as a GM you want to take advantage of what the draft gives you, don't you? We really need a LB or two, CBs and a QB. Way to many important positions to fill in one draft. So, what position is deep this year?
  23. Need someone who has played in bad weather during high school at least. I think that is one of the reasons Kelly did well here (not the only one of course).
  24. I can't blame Nix too much. I agreed that we needed to improve the defense since Fitz had shown that he could win. His meltdown astonished a lot of people and may have happened for the same reason that Edwards did - a monster hit and concussion that really did affect his subsequent play.
  25. The question has to be "has the guy won where he has been?" We knew with Gailey that the answer was "no." A winning team, however, has a coach with good organization, leadership, and football smarts, but also has a very talented roster. Belichek would make the Bills better, but not by a whole lot with this cast. The team needs improvement in all areas.
