  1. Yeah, but how many of today's owners were around for that? Not many. Different Commish as well. Trump would be great I think. Super competitive man with an enormous pocketbook and pull in this state. Potentially could influence law makers on new stadium financing from the State. I would be very nervous about him moving the team though, don't trust him at all.
  2. Short memory. Many people thought that trading down to St. Louis was possible just last season and it happened.
  3. Russell Wilson. What he does off the field is just as, if not more impressive than what he does on the field. A dedicated leader, works harder than everyone, and gives a ton of time and effort to his community. A public relations dreamboat. Conversely, a potential PR nightmare that I love is Marshawn. Sports are entertainment, and he is flat out entertaining to watch on the field. Love his sideline antics and that Predator looking smile.
  4. Nice post. This paragraph is it to me. I've always said to some of the people who are against any public funding to sports franchises that they have to think deeper about it. Families and friends are closer because of these teams. This, in turn, yields closer communities and you simply cannot put a price on things like that. I see my brother, father, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins and their families more because of the Bills. We always have something to talk about because of the Bills. I see my friends more often because of getting together to watch Bills games together a handful of times each season (and with most of them having infants and toddlers the other times of the year I hardly see them). Quite simply, my life was and continues to be fuller because of the Buffalo Bills, because of Mr. Wilson. A sincere Thank You, RIP.
  5. No one dominated the inside last season like Jernigan. If he gets in better shape he will be the best DT coming out of this draft. A big if though.
  6. I think he may see #3 time over Robey, but even if he does not between injuries, 4 CB sets, and spelling tired guys, I still think it is money well spent and he will be seeing the field a ton this season.
  7. I have to completely disagree with the OP on this. You say that the other teams have "indisputably" had better FA than the Bills but yet you don't point to any single piece of evidence to support that. The Jets haven't done anything except sign Erik Decker. A former #3 WR that now had Geno Smith throwing him the ball instead of Peyton Manning. I wonder how that is going to work out for him? I just don't see what you are seeing here I suppose. The Dolphins severely overpaid for FAs last season and are doing so again this season. This is a good thing to you? They are going to screw their cap situations in the very near future with these signings. Albert and Mitchell are good players, sure, but they are paying a very high price. Getting an old, slow, clearly diminished Cortland Finnegan is not a good thing in my opinion. His antics outweigh his skill at this point in his career. Their real issue remains at the QB slot. Tannehill just isn't that good and they are wasting all this money around him. The Pats are still the cream of the crop in the division and are really the only ones that I consider clearly better than the Bills, no need to discuss their moves. For the Bills, we've addressed a huge need with Spikes, got a very good #3 CB, and some added depth where we needed it on the OL. Rivers will also provide some nice depth as well and potentially another starter. I believe you are forgetting the best part of our off season...a year of development from our extremely young team. Players typically grow leaps and bounds from their first to second years in the league and also from second to third and third to fourth. We have a ton of players that fit into theses groups that should be getting better and more productive year after year. The other teams in our division cannot say that. Finally, can we please see how the draft pans out before we proclaim the Bills the worst team in the division, perhaps?
  8. Nice job. I rarely get to page 6 on a thread. I really don't think he'll be around that long though considering his size / speed combo.
  9. Don't see where you get the notion that he can't catch, but OK. Route running needs work for sure though. Here are some interesting numbers on success of WRs drafted based on Size and Speed. As you would expect 6'2"+ and sub 4.50 40s are the most successful WRs in the NFL (as measured by being 5 year starters as a success) especially when drafted 3rd or later (compared to smaller and / or slower guys). The table at the bottom of the article is the most interesting one to me. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Evaluating-wide-receivers-by-size-and-speed.html
  10. That's why I wanted to bring this guy to the table for discussion. Projected as a mid to late rounder as of now. Kaufman runs a 4.5-4.6 and from Eastern Washington. Roberson runs the same and is from Stephen A. Austin, Elliot runs the same as well and is from Florida A&M, and Easley ran a 4.39 from UConn. With the exception of Easley, none of those clowns are even close to as fast as Washington. And, none of them played in the SEC against NFL caliber defenses. You get impact and ready to play now guys in rounds 1-3. You get projects and depth in rounds 4-7.
  11. No doubt. Gained about 50 from playing weight in HS to current so maybe there is some room on his frame for some more still. About 15/20 lbs would be ideal.
  12. The only thing that worries me about Evans is that it seemed to me in the 5 or so A&M games I watched this season (including his monsters vs. Alabama and Auburn) that a lot of his bigger plays were created by Johnny creating extra time to get open with his movement in the pocket / backfield avoiding the rushes. It makes me wonder about his ability to get open in the much smaller window of time of the NFL. I could care less about some of his attitude issues though, shows me that he cares...a lot.
  13. Hands are OK, route running needs some work. A raw player for sure, but a very high ceiling.
  14. With the slew of WR posts, I thought I would add one to the mix that no one is talking about, not even the draft pundits. L'Damian Washington. He's raw, for sure. But his measurables are fantastic and his background is pretty interesting. Check him out, I expect him to climb the boards and be a 3-4th rounder when all is said and done.
  15. I like this list for my viewing of the WRs in the draft. Shows height and weight in a very easy to read format. I wouldn't say any of the really tall WRs have blazing speed though (6'3" and up) but there are definitely some ballers IMO. Keep an eye out for L'Damian Washington of Mizzu to shoot up draft boards with his measurables. http://www.cbssports...ankings/2014/WR
  16. He only played with EJ one season. But that's besides the point. I can't explain why, but I have been seeing this guy like I looked at Alshon Jeffery when he came out, and I hated him...until this season. He's tall, he's big and strong, he has the ability to make some amazing plays coupled with the ability to flat out drop some easy ones. I though Jeffery was going to be a bust, and his first season was certainly not anything special, but then he blew up this year. I think Benjamin may have a similar growing curve and potentially could be a big time big receiver. I'm in on him and wouldn't mind this scenario in the 2nd at all if he's still there or late 1st as a trade down option.
  17. As far as Rule change number 2 goes, I think you're looking at it wrong. Penalties are not only designed to equate to what would have happened but also to discourage you from doing the act at all. It's sort of like legal damages. They can be compensatory and / or punitive. Compensatory are to make the person whole (similar to what you are suggesting here) while punitive ones are meant to punish offenders for their actions in addition to the harm they caused. To me, it's more about discouraging the act than it is about putting the ball where it may or may not have ended up had the hold not have happened. Also, sack losses average more in the range of 5-7 yards. Too bad I can't seem to get the link to work.
  18. Most experts / mocks have him going in the late first round now. I haven't seen him projected as a top 10 pick in well over a month now. It's really gone from him possibly dropping to the Bills to if the Bills draft him it would be a reach.
  19. So in this guys article he says after the Jags Pick: "They can get their guy next year in what should be a deeper crop of trigger men." Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Isn't this year supposed to be the "deep" crop of QBs year? Did Hundley staying really effect the QBs that much? It seems like "next year" QB drafts are always deeper than "this year." It just goes to show you that these dudes really don't know what they are talking about. They just spew the same B.S. out year after year and copy each others mocks. The only year I don't remember them saying this was regarding this years rookie class. The Luck draft always remained more highly regarded, and rightfully so.
  20. There are a quite a bit of good receivers in this draft. Everyone talks of Evans, Watkins and Lee (now Benjamin is rocketing up the boards). With our TE, OLine, and run stopping LB needs, I think WR is better addressed in round 2-4. I think we would also be discussing Penn State's Robinson and Vandy's Matthews as guys to target. Also, I loved LSU's Landry (over Beckham Jr.) this season. He was making clutch plays all year long, but he (as well as Lee) is not as big / tall as I think we need.
  21. Think you guys may be able to remove Eric Fisher as an alternate #1 overall pick for the Texans. That would be an upset pick for sure.
  22. If it were possible for a game to have a negative score, this just may be it.
  23. Yeah, but I'd put money on the fact that you couldn't do those drop backs like he was doing on the sideline after. ACLs provide lateral support and really don't have anything to do with walking/running down a straight line. Once he was shuffling his feet testing out the drop backs and it didn't give, I was pretty confident that it was not an ACL tear.
  24. I'm just curious, besides Cassel (who turned out to be terrible in my opinion), who have the Pats developed and traded? Mallet doesn't look to be trade bait at all but a future replacement for an aging QB. I certainly wouldn't categorize this as "always picking up QBs and developing them."
  25. EJ and RW look to have the potential to be a very, very nice QB/WR combo in the immediate future and I could certainly see RW being our "#1" before the season is over. Also, Kiko does seem to have some great instincts and a nose for making big plays. But on the flip side, it's only 4 weeks so far and legends are not made in 4 weeks or even a season. EJ has some growing pains to go through still and his accuracy and timing with the receivers needs to improve (as it should need to with a rookie QB in his 4th week). But I can say that at this point I couldn't ask for anything more then what we've got from these rookies so far and if you don't agree then I think your expectations are just unrealistic. Also, the rookie staff (HC and OC namely) have some growing pains to go through as well. This weekend they repeated the mistake they made in the Pats game. At the end, they were trying not to lose the game by trying to just run it out and hope for a first down to kill the clock. Instead, I think they need to be trying to win the game and not be afraid to call a pass on first or second down (and this weekend 3 and long and they ran it again???). I feel we were lucky to hold on at the end this week and we all know what happened week 1. Go big or go home...a loser.
