  1. I came on to be upset about a Miller restructure and instead realized that Beane got him to take a pay cut. Sweet Jesus. Today was brutal but the Bills are back in the black and there are still more levers to pull.
  2. Better than Kyle Allen.. it's left handed compliment but not an incorrect one
  3. It's common to spell out players if they need a rest. Also for use in Jumbo packages.
  4. The answer is obvious: the Russ' contact post cut means they are getting hammered on the cap. Wilson alone will be $35 M this year and $50 M next, simply to not have him on the team anymore. Combined with not having a QB they have a massive millstone around their necks until 2026. A prudent thing to do would be to make cap room and ship off vets with expiring contracts for draft picks. The problem with the Bills moving on it is that these players, while good, aren't a perfect fit for our needs and cap situation. Jeudy, while a great player, is more of the role that the Bills have for Shakir. Sutton has a $12 M base salary for the next two years that the Bills would be on the hook for.
  5. He's useful in that he should inflate the market
  6. agree that WR is biggest need. We can get by for a year with Von and Groot and some journeymen. I don't think you can say the same for WR2
  7. I'm not saying they are wrong. I would be happy if Beane takes him at 28 (or moves up into the 20s somehow) In the same token, if 28 rolls around and Mitchell and Franklin and McConkey and Worthy and Devontez Walker and Legette and Coleman are all there, and there is a very clear answer to "who replaces Von Miller?" or "who anchors our secondary for the next five years?" I can see waiting until round 2.
  8. Here's the thing for me: Obviously, I want a WR who could take over for Diggs in a year or two and this seems to be the draft to do it. But maybe Beane is looking at his board and says "Thomas Jr. is the last WR1, the rest are all complementary pieces. If he's gone before I can even get close and an edge rusher is there for the taking I can get a complementary piece almost anywhere in 2nd or using my bevy of picks to get into the top of round 3" I couldn't be mad at that.
  9. I'm still on a maybe. Continuity is still something important. I would much prefer a vet and a high draft pick at safety, but that requires figuring out our WR, DL and CB situation first and Beane is poker face on about those. As he should, it's just maddening for fans in the final week before we really see what the shape of the team looks like.
  10. It's not a pleasant thought but I've been seriously considering the same. Poyer has very obviously lost a step. He and Hyde counted as $15 M total their first year, and with some of the AAV projections I've seen that number seems very doable if we cut Poyer for a third of it.
  11. Hey I would have kept him, but it's a whole lot easier to pick up decent backup guards than WR talent in FA
  12. If that 5th gets used to move up in the 1st or 2nd round to get a receiver this board is in love with, no one is going to care about Bates.
  13. Ahh yes, the "I'm sorry, I know that remote work is just-as-if-not-more productive, costs less overhead and leads to greater employee satisfaction, but without it we cannot micromanage you as inefficiently. Think of how much you miss spending an hour round trip (or more) in your car going back and forth each day"
  14. Extend. Dawkins a good to above average LT on a reasonable contract for his starting position. It's a no brainer. Next
  15. Oh, Beane is doing something. That was a given with Beane. I suspect this year will have more rookies cracking the roster than in previous years, but I fully expect a trade up to happen somewhere. As I am seeing the big boards rise and fall, I am wondering if the Bills wait out and take BPA at 28, then blitz spending to get a WR or DE at the top of round 2.
  16. Ehhh, I would make a small jump for Thomas or Worthy. The others? Tell me how distinctly Legette, Franklin, McCorkle and Mitchell are better or worse than each other? Because it looks like the drop off is right before or after one of those guys. I'm not saying they are *bad* but the first tier looks like players who could outplay Diggs at some point. The others are plug and play #2 but leaves us without a Diggs succession plan.
  17. Wow. I honestly did not see that coming. He was a good 6th man on the line, and the one who I expected to backup or replace Morse. This tells me Morse is staying because it's hard to expect a rookie to come in and be ready day 1. Even the blue chip top 10 OTs often take some time. Torrence was the best starting rookie we've had in years and he absolutely took his lumps, and he was projected as high as back of round 1.
  18. I mean...yes, but not for the money that he's due. If the Broncos are in full fire sale mode and are willing to trade him for peanuts and Beane uses salary conversion and void years it's possible but at this point if they are in a fire sale mode they might just cut him.
  19. So, the next time everyone here is talking about how Von is a bad contract I suspect he'll get a stop somewhere. There are places that are just as QB hungry as Denver, just that the amount of money he was getting was absurd in comparison to level of play. Washington, Pitt, Tenn, NE, Atlanta, Minnesota, LV, and even Seattle all need a QB and the back half of that list is way outside of the pick zone of the top candidates. Someone will take a sniff.
  20. And like that the Chiefs are at $3M in cap space before trying Chris Jones
  21. If he drops that far, Brian Thomas in a heartbeat. After that...I am making some calls to the teams at the top of the 2nd. Because it's looking like a glut with Franklin, McConkey, Worthy, and Adonai Mitchell. While I had had by doubts about McConkey, he was bigger, faster and stronger than Franklin even if I like Franklin's film better (from my very limited watching).
  22. I think the comment was "do right by him" By guess is that they went to him looking for a pay cut because the $5.5 M was a lot for a player who was a gadget two years ago but if his agent dug in it's a no brainer
  23. I am no longer so insistant upon WR in the 1st round. Granted if Thomas Jr slides fantastic you take him there, but at this moment I think there's not a terrible chance that there are 4-5 guys you rank closely as immediate #2 WR starters at the 28th pick and I can envision trading back.
  24. I mean I doubt that we get him, but soaking up other teams cap space helps our odds of a plan B (WR2 doesn't get the long term deal they want, takes a flyer with a contender)
  25. Pretty much. Unfortunately, there is a competitive disadvantage to releasing people early, especially cash strapped as the Bills are. Dumping new players into the marketplace right as legal tampering opens pushes greater supply into the market, meaning that there are more options for other teams to snap up.
