  1. It's not like we broke the bank for them either, they were just evaluated well.
  2. As infuriating as it is to see players I want going, I am having massive sticker shock compared to what Beane is locking up our pending FA for. They're always someone when the dust settles who is productive but isn't on a team for a variety of reasons: cut to make room for another player, on the backside of their career even though they're productive or overplay their hand on the market and take a prove it deal. I WANT the surer thing but if teams want to cap hell themselves in advance I really can't stop it.
  3. Just a reminder that while Beane has misfires more often than not he knows that he's doing
  4. It's hard to make a reasonable offer when the other side insists is unreasonable. If the Browns had any sense at all they'd be taking their cap lumps ASAP and selling off assets because of the millstone that is the Watson deal. Who else do we have?
  5. I can see this is the Bills telling Von to test the open market after Miller wouldn't take a cut. Here's hoping it means that have someone already lined up for a replacement
  6. Keon Coleman is so slow that he might die before he commits any crimes and is remembered as a beloved Hall of Famer. There, are you happy now?
  7. I want a game wrecker in the 1 tech. If the Bills get that I suspect Groot and Oliver look back to potential This deal is going to increase our cap space for this year. If anything I think it makes a FA splash more likely
  8. This seems like the most obvious pickup possible. We need help there, he is likely ring chasing, no comp pick worries we can pursue now
  9. Agreed. Of the five players we went into with looming contracts (Shakir, Bernard, Benford, Groot, Cook) he's the only one left who I think you can get good value on by locking up early. He's not flashy but his analytics are consistently top tier. Meanwhile Cook and Groot are looking for huge paydays and those are cans I am fine with kicking the can down the road on
  10. Exactly this. It actually is likely going to *increase* the cap hit this year but it would mean dropping like a stone in 2026
  11. It's a little more than I'd like but he was incredible in 23 and was still good last year. Considering that he's still on a rookie deal and the amount of guarantees this is probably in effect a 3-4 year (prorated bonus over this year, 2-3 years of $12.5 AAV) so I'm not worried about long term health concerns. Now do Benford. If we get that done, I'm willing to roll the dice on Groot and Cook
  12. I am fine with KC shedding the better members of their O-line. That worked great for them in the super bowl
  13. I'm usually sympathetic to labor but I'm a little surprised. Things haven't exactly been rosy for the XFL, USFL, UFL and arena football. The USFL has managed to get to season 2? The USFL is sometimes the final shot for guys to break into the league and you've gotten a few people who do so every year. I have to think the players make more doing this than what they'd do otherwise. I'd be a lot more hesitant to pull the trigger until you know the USFL can stick around.
  14. My thinking is a long the Family Guy joke: "You can have the 2nd round pick you hit hitting a contract year...or a lower 2nd round pick than you used to draft him!" "A second round pick? James Cook is great but a second round pick could be anything! It could be a James Cook!" Look if we are getting some ludicrous offer or Cook is part of a package for a sure fire player (if it's Chris Jones and the Chiefs are making the money work) give me a call but let's not make them better for a maybe. I'm fine with draft picks but why give them a sure player
  15. I mean great! That usually means the cost this year is mostly the same, and if they are saying up to that means some decent incentives built in. Honestly, he's the most proven passing weapon we have
  16. I don't mind the comparison. I'm ok at the idea of trying to take a prime role here because the supporting cast makes it an ensemble
  17. Now I know you're full of it. There's no such thing as too much!
  18. Until last night my top priority was a Z receiver. But watching Mahomes get pinballed cemented to me the only way to beat him...physically beating him. As an academic exercise, think of every position group. Which of those aren't league average or better? WR, but Hollins and/or Cooper could likely be had reasonably. Secondary? Ingram looked good in limited time and Beane has a supernatural ability to get late round gems. Rapp outperformed expectations, you have Bishop and Lewis. What would fall apart if all assets went to D-line? I'm struggling to think of a catastrophy
  19. Just for a little bit of perspective here as someone in the Philly sports media zone: you would not believe the calls for firings. Howie Roseman was run out of his office and people wouldn't shut up about how how whiffed on defensive late round picks. He has now assembled two SB winning rosters After the Eagles fell apart down the stretch last year fans were out for blood and wanted to fire the entire coaching staff one year after getting to the SB. Instead they hired Kellen Moore (now the Saints HC) and Fangio. Just some perspective considering the things I've heard about McDermott and Beane.
  20. Let me tell you D-line play is going to be scrutinized as hell this offseason
  21. This is October and November KC showing up against a real opponent I just wish they had been that way two weeks ago
  22. I'm actually amazed the Jets made the right call. It's a painful hit but they'll be over it by 2026, and they have a clean slate. I wonder if they are open to trading Garrett Wilson No! He must go to Minnesota! The cycle must be complete!
  23. Watching because I live around Philly and we are bonding over Chiefs and ref hate. FWIW, in a decade plus living here my interactions with Eagles fans have been ok. For the most part I don't get razzed unless I'm joining in on it and people legitimately seem to appreciate Josh Allen's play.
  24. Why the hell would be do that? If anything, we are on the horn to the Saints offering a trade if they wanted to go in another direction. Yes, I want to see more. Yes, he relied upon too many Josh runs for short yardage without having a backup plan. But seriously, while there isn't a perfect stat, the Bills were 2nd in the league in EPA/play at 0.18. For reference, the "historic Ravens offense" was #1 at 0.21, while the Lions were 0.15. The offense was 4th in points per game, and we all know that for a lot of them had the Bills been willing to put the petal to the metal we could have put up more, but there was no need to take those risks. All with one player cracking 800 yards receiving. Cook had a great year, but even then we didn't put so much tread on him that How much of that is Josh? Part of it, I am sure. But what we saw looks like something we could do again, and do better.
