  1. It's embarrassing. It's not the kind of thread I'd associate with a good poster. But that's funny.
  2. This is such a loser thread. You should be embarrassed.
  3. It's only logical if you want to play Dick Jauron style football.
  4. You're right. But you don't see the problem with the bolded?
  5. The allegedly vanilla game plan is hopefully due to protecting Manuel. If they never evolve past what we saw yesterday, then I'd be concerned we are running Jauron's "pop gun" attack. Russell Wilson was protected for more than half the season. I'm willing to believe that's what we saw against NE.
  6. New England would defend a veteran playmaker like Vick the same as a rookie in his first NFL start coming off a knee scope that kept him out for 2 weeks? Spiller would probably have gaudy stats in Philly's offense tonight. Marrone and Hackett have borrowed quite a bit from Kelly. I'm not sure they'd see anything new tonight that they haven't seen. Having said that, I'd hope they're adaptable and continue to evolve the scheme.
  7. Do you think the difference between the Bills and Eagles offensive output in Week 1 has anything to do with the inexperience of a rookie QB that missed 2+ weeks of practice and preseason reps? Because I think what we're seeing tonight is exactly what Marrone and Hackett have in mind.
  8. It looks like the Panthers' record in games in which Cam Newton rushes for under 50 yards is 4-15.
  9. I used to be annoyed by the lack of attention, but it's clear the positive results need to start coming and remain consistent. When Bledsoe was slinging it for a few stretches, the Fletcher-Spikes D was producing, or during the early season 2008 and 2011 fast starts the Bills received a fair amount of positive attention. But those stretches were few and far between. A team like the Jets is fascinating to the national media when they are bad because they have the capacity to blow up in a big and humiliating way. The Bills have not been "humiliatingly bad" over the past 13 years, just mostly mediocre. And that's boring.
  10. Of course, you could replace "hurry up" with any other style of offense and this sentence would still be true. The offensive skill group on this roster is a good fit for what Marrone/Hackett are trying to do, which is of course by design. They made strides yesterday and looked generally competent if unspectacular. It's probably wise to reserve ultimate judgement for another week besides Week 1.
  11. From the linked article in the OP, regarding the Jags owner citing Martin Luther King Jr. as an influence: So let me respectfully challenge Mr. Khan to consider these words from Dr. King: “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.” How is this issue an ethical one? Only if one takes the stance that Tebow's banishment is due to his religious conviction, which is most certainly not the case. I'd wager Chuck Norris wouldn't be commenting on Tebow if he were openly an atheist.
  12. Is it the same kind of grown man that complains on internet message boards? I'll hang up and listen.
  13. Imagine how good Michael Jordan would have been if he were drafted in the 6th round. I'm thinking he'd have won something like 6 NBA Championships.
  14. If Manuel fulfils his potential, Chris Trapasso will no longer be used as a negative meme on TBD.
  15. "EJ Manuel has had many big moments in big games throughout his career. Yet what will define him for years to come was not a long run, a touchdown, or anything on the field. It was a halftime speech."
  16. Later on in King's piece, an interesting nugget about Nix and the Rams GM: "Factoid of the Week That May Interest Only Me II Speaking of Tavon Austin: Buffalo GM Buddy Nix and Rams GM Les Snead orchestrated the trade that that led Austin to the Rams Thursday night, St. Louis acquiring the eighth pick for second- and seventh-rounders and a swap of third-rounders. Snead was born in Eufaula, Ala. (pop.: 13,137) in 1971. The high school football coach at Eufaula High until 1967 was Buddy Nix. “Buddy was a big deal in my hometown,” Snead said. Snead went to Auburn. A good buddy of his, the backup quarterback on the football team, married Nix’s daughter. On Thursday, Nix, the big man in Snead’s town when Snead was but a gleam in his father’s eyes, handed Snead the most dangerous weapon in this draft to compete with the power boys, San Francisco and Seattle, in the NFC West. And Snead handed Nix the pick to draft the player, E.J. Manuel, the Bills hope becomes the successor to Jim Kelly. I wonder if anyone in Eufaula realized that over the weekend."
  17. He likes Alonso, but decries that Arthur Brown was still on the board at the time Alonso was picked. Kiper having Arthur Brown rated higher is one thing, but not taking into consideration that Brown likely doesn't fit Pettine's defense whereas Alonso appears to be engineered in a lab to fit it is why these grades mean little. It's interesting and it adds to the fun of the overall draft experience, but these guys don't really know which players are fits, so it borders on extreme chutzpah when they get all huffy on camera determining "winners" and "losers".
  18. I thought the same thing when I watched the clip. I mean, can they actually see Ohio's tax incentives from where they're sitting?
  19. Adam SchefterVerified account ‏@AdamSchefter 15m ESPN's @FieldYates reports former Tennessee QB Tyler Bray will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, per source. Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 1m RT @Buffalo_Wolf: NOT the Dolphins? ... Not the Dolphins. Tyler Bray is headed to Kansas City to the Chiefs.
  20. That's pretty cool. This feels very different--- more than just posturing.
  21. Pfft. Where's the 2014 3rd rounder?
  22. Bill Barnwell ‏@billbarnwell 1m If you haven't turned on Elway to Marino yet, get there before they start the Jim Kelly segment. Best part of the documentary.
  23. Thank god victorymedia is here to tell us why we should remember the 3rd round last year. Because no one remembers it nor is it ever discussed.
  24. I'd be OK with it so long as the purposes are truly intensive.
  25. One reason I'd like to see them trade back with their 1st round pick is to acquire an additional pick they can use on a QB and still restock other positions of need. Matt Scott in, say, the later half of the 2nd round would be ideal--- but there's no way he'll last past the 3rd let alone into the 5th.
