I agree completely. I do have sympathy for the fans that caught his fall, though.

Who's on first?
-
You mean coaches can't communicate to the QB via radio from the sideline? If so, then it all makes sense.
-
The way it was worded was that Hackett was still calling the plays but the apparatus to send them into EJ was from the booth--- it sounds like it unnecessarily complicates what is already a delicate process but maybe it's not that strange. I'd be interested to hear some clarification from Marrone or Hackett this week.
-
I can't recall which reporter mentioned this on twitter during the game, but apparently the offensive quality control coach was sending in the plays from the booth which is what caused the delays--- the only reason I made a note of this is that the reporter referred to the QC coach as Mike Vrabel. Thinking it was the former Patriot I looked it up and it was a mistake: his name is actually Jason Vrable.

It was actually captured by the broadcast toward the end of the game. I hope all involved are OK. https://vine.co/v/htj9ndMgJte

Balzer's comment isn't that the Packers reached out to Favre... only that Balzer reached out to Bus Cook asking if Favre would consider returning to the Packers. It doesn't appear that the Packers considered Favre in any way.

Ian Rapoport (NFL Network) @RapSheet: Good news on promising #Bills WR Robert Woods, who left Sunday with an ankle injury. I’m told it’s only mildly sprained. Day to day
-
If, prior to the game, you'd predict the Bills would put up more than 400 yards of total offense, including 240+ rushing, keep Charles in check and under 100 total yards, hold the Chiefs O to 3 FGs and no TDs, force 6 punts, and refer to the below stat--- I'd assume the prediction was that the Bills would win 35-9. gregg rosenthal @greggrosenthal 1m Most insane stat of the day: Chiefs didn't touch Jeff Tuel. No sacks, no QB hits. 42 drop backs.

Ya'll may think I'm crazy but I love this team, warts and all
Punch replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's nothing crazy about it at all--- it's fairly evident that the ground has shifted and the Bills are competitive with more than mere smoke and mirrors. There's a solid talent base here and a coaching staff with a clue--- despite all of the rookie growing pains, which were to be expected. I tend to lean optimistic in general (what's the point otherwise?), but over the past 10+ seasons, the optimism felt forced and as though it were flying in the face of logic. To not like the current state of the franchise and where it appears to be heading now feels like an attitude that flies in the face of logic. Hope springs... -
Jonathan Martin AWOL, Incognito suspended
Punch replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand what you're saying, but unfortunately, there are enough impressionistic young men playing football that tend to fall in line behind douches like Incognito, like kids on a playground, that the lockerroom will get out of control pretty quickly. The constant effort needed to dissuade a guy like Richie cannot possibly be worth it when there are Kraig Urbiks with potential out there on other team's practice squads. I'd say at the very least, the fact he's been dumped by every team he's played on is a sure enough sign that his talent isn't deemed irreplaceable so it's just much easier to replace him. -

That's pretty shortsighted. As NoSaint wrote in the Jonathan Martin/AWOL thread: -

I'd heard the same. In fact, apparently Martin told Incognito as much the other day via text--- but then this: @nfldraftscout: Garafolo: "Multiple sources told me Martin's camp informed Dolphins and NFLPA that Incognito sent threatening and racially charged texts" @MikeGarafolo: From @FOXSportsLive - Jonathan Martin's camp alleges threatening/racially charged messages from Richie Incognito: http://t.co/tjgJ4U0FSE -

Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington2m Richie Incognito was advised by Joe Philbin tonight he has been indefinitely suspended by team while NFL investigates, Incognito tells me. -
"Per a league source, Lewis is expected to play on Sunday, despite the missed practice. It remains to be seen whether he’ll practice on Thursday, or whether Jeff Tuel and Matt Flynn will again split reps." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/30/thad-lewis-should-be-good-to-go-on-sunday/

This unfortunate situation coupled with reports this week of Dolphin's offensive players openly questioning the offensive gameplanning and philosophy is a sign the wheels are coming off. It's no wonder Miami is mired in a losing streak. I wouldn't be surprised that if the Dolphins fire the coaching staff and bring in a new group, Lamar Miller becomes the star in 2014 he appeared destined to be this year. -
I guess what I mean is--- he was not considered a particularly safe pick even if he was viewed as a 1st rounder. I know there was plenty of debate on how risky he was versus other prospects, like Orakpo.
-
There were a lot of flags around Maybin, mostly related to his size/build and relative experience. Obviously, more than a few of the big time draft pundits felt he was 1st round material but I don't think it was necessarily universal.

CJ Spiller health and performance thread

Why did it take this long to diagnose it as a high ankle sprain, or did the Bills just not publicly acknowledge it until now? Is it not as severe as most high ankle sprains? Typically a RB should be shut down immediately and the recovery time frame is 4-6 weeks. -

Unbelievable. After all that, the Bills gained about 20 yards in field position and probably a dose of confidence for the D. -

Matt Flynn on flight to Buffalo, (update - now signed)
Punch replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's been confirmed that Flynn is in town and will meet with the Bills on Monday. It's not a question. Not sure, though maybe he had a connecting flight... the Wild played in St. Paul on Saturday night and are in Buffalo for a game against the Sabres on Monday night. Why Flynn shared a flight with the 2 writers out of Minnesota isn't clear, but that's the only connection at the moment. -

Schefter confirms: Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 34m Former Seahawks and Raiders QB Matt Flynn is in Buffalo, there to work out for Bills, via @mikerodak and me. -
That makes close to zero sense for the Bills.
