  1. If that last tweet were true rather than an intentional dramatized mischaracterization, this would have the cold ring of truth. Rather, it's the bloated self importance of an irrelevant chime clanging in the wind. Schopp doesn't "matter" because he's the host of a daily sports radio show and chose to publicly go off the rails over a comment made by a very public figure. Stevie knows what was said because fans tweeted the reaction at him.
  2. And last year's Super Bowl.
  3. Thank god you set us straight. I can't wait to read your next brilliant missive rather than today's most coherent and literate sports writing. How can I subscribe?
  4. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
  5. FFS, get over yourself. You make sloppy posts that are rife with errors and illogic. When anyone calls you on it, you jump to paranoid defense mode. This is your well known and well worn MO. I only disagreed with the details you wrote about Lofton's time in Buffalo, which were wrong. Cris Carter had a HoF worthy career before Randy Moss arrived, so you're also overstating his impact. Below is the original post of yours to which I initially replied (and aside from basic factual errors, mostly agreed with it's basic premise that Carter had more talented WR teammates than did Reed):
  6. And the coup de gras for an interaction with Joe_the_6_pack: after he cannot address his sloppy posts and mischaracterizations, he refers to you as "kid" and further references mysterious "bs". This is why no one likes you. Have another beer.
  7. When he was in Buffalo he was aged 33-36, not exactly "late 30's". He was inarguably a major factor for one of the most potent offenses in NFL history and a pro bowl starter in 1991. You literally said "waived a year after their first Super Bowl" which is obviously not what you're now claiming. I innocently thought it worth correcting. I also said it was a brief period but it was the closest Reed came to having a premier WR play opposite him. I have no idea what you're struggling against. I'm not even disagreeing with you. The funny part is that the first sentence in my initial reply to you was that I generally agree with your Moss point ("generally" because Carter was likely a Hall of Famer before Moss arrived--- Carter's best seasons were not with Moss, although those last 4 years in Minnesota received a boost from Randy's presence). Take a chill pill, for crying out loud.
  8. This entire post is brilliant--- particularly the above. BRAVO
  9. No one is comparing Moss' production to Lofton's, aside from you. You said Lofton was "aged" and washed up, then "waived" after the 1st Super Bowl. That is incorrect and Lofton's success as a deep threat from 1990-92 was crucial to the K-Gun and also Andre Reed. I'm not sure how that is not obvious during the Bills Super Bowl era (an admittedly small sample of Reed's career). Carter's numbers were spectacular before Randy Moss arrived in 1998 (2 seasons of 120+ catches). There's no reason to denigrate Carter's career and exaggerate Reed's--- they are both Hall worthy and each had different advantages/disadvantages. As I've already said, IMHO Reed is better.
  10. I clearly agreed with the Moss point--- although it should be noted that Moss and Carter only played together for 4 seasons (just like Reed/Lofton). But let's not pretend that Lofton was washed up after one year, either, which is what you said. He was a crucial component in the K-Gun and Reed benefited greatly from his presence. Reed was better, period. His stats are great for the era. Carter's are better because he benefited from several seasons in a pass happy offense. It's the kind of BS that sports writers crow about and further evidence that they should not be selecting athletes to be represented in the Hall of Fame.
  11. Yes, Carter had good situations in Minnesota--- Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Brad Johnson and Daunte Culpepper were a very good group of QBs. But it pales in comparison to Reed having Jim Kelly for 10 years. The same is true of Thurman vs. the Vikings RB group over that period. Consistency and chemistry for 10 years with HoF players is better. I don't know WTF you mean by "the worst argument". I still think Reed is better by far, it's just a caveat to be fair.
  12. Writers love stats and hype. That's Carter's only advantage. Cj Spiller @CJSPILLER Dang the writers must really dislike buffalo bc @Andre_Reed83 should have been a HOF by now.#IJS
  13. Carter's stat accumulation from 1994-2000 is impeccable and much better than any stretch in Reed's career--- but Reed is the better WR, IMHO. Sapp is not a HoF, and certainly not a 1st ballot HoF. Pro football writers embarrass again.
  14. Of course--- I'm hoping for the results to be leaked. IIRC, they were last year prior to the broadcast announcement.
  15. According to Gil Brandt, the vote is in. There shouldn't be a delay in hearing the results. @Gil_Brandt Ballots for final 5 have just been handed in. Should get an announcement on time. #HOF
  16. Agreed. That was neither clever nor particularly memorable.
  17. Was I arguing the value of a 1,000 yard season in today's NFL or merely pointing out that he had 3 consecutive rather than 2? I'll hang up and listen.
  18. Has everyone commenting listened to the interview? He starts the interview by saying he's agitated to be at the Super Bowl but not as a participant. He's tired of the Bills being on the outside of the playoffs and would like to change that. When I first heard the discussion this afternoon on WGR, I was irritated. After actually listening to the whole interview, his whole point was that he realized he could work much harder--- he was being self deprecating and trying to be funny. Jim Rome ends the interview by praising Stevie for not having anything to promote except Buffalo Bills football, which is exactly what Stevie said. Much ado about nothing.
  19. Correction: back to back TO BACK--- 3 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.
  20. Chidi Ahanotu > Barry Rose
  21. I'd say mediocre is below average. 3 consecutive 7-9 seasons is textbook mediocrity. Having said that, I think I was merely being too kind in defining the past 2 HC tenures--- I have no enthusiasm to celebrate them as even mediocre. It has been a dark and boring age of disappoinment.
  22. Why do you keep repeating this meme? It is not a "thing" amongst Bills fans. The "Happy Birthday Chan" thread from a few weeks ago was filled with sarcastic slams on him. Gailey is not beloved. Jauron is not hated. They are viewed in an identical light: mediocre.
  23. Just stop. No one is saying this except you.
  24. This is true, Chan was aggressive the first 2 years and he had a personality. It's hard to get hot and bothered about either, but I'd rather have Chan as my OC than Jauron as DC--- but really, I'd rather have neither.
