  1. I apologize to all Bills fans everywhere. This meltdown is entirely my fault. I drafted the Bills as my DST in fantasy football this year. :wallbash:
  2. Not to mention the fact that, despite all the griping about it being in Orchard Park and not downtown, it's location provides a fair amount of open land for expansion and additions (assuming that land could be purchased). Downtown is a bit more geographically challenged. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a new stadium built up in Niagara County or along the 990 somewhere. It would make it closer for people coming from Toronto and Rochester and it would give UB an opportunity to host some big opponents occasionally.
  3. This is why I wish there was some GM out there who actually tried the Billy Bean thing in the NFL - using players based primarily on their stats, not their "intangibles." I mean, after the career Flutie had, there are still people who wouldn't give him a second look due to his size. How about just looking at the stats?
  4. I just never understood why Jones was so highly rated. I mean, it's not like he's bad, but he doesn't have a "quality" that makes him stick out. Stevie is clearly #1. Graham has serious speed. Nelson and Chandler are the big targets (who also consistently catch the ball). Beyond that, the only ones you can say something truly distinct about are Roosevelt (hands like glue), Martin (ST, but possibly redundant if Potter kicks), and maybe Hagan, though I haven't quite figured out what it is that sets Hagan apart (but I do believe there is something there, I just can't pin it down). Of course, there is no way Jones is going anywhere, but, if it were me, I'd keep Stevie, TJ, Nelson, Roosevelt, and either Jones or Hagan. I'd try to get Aiken onto the PS. It totally makes me sound like a homer, but I really would be disappointed if Roosevelt doesn't make it. I hate the argument that he's small and slow. A lot of guys are small and slow as many posters have pointed out. But Fitz summed it up in that article pretty well. Roosevelt's always there and he always catches it! He's reliable! In fact, he's really what I'd call a true possession receiver. Why cut that?
  5. People keep bringing up Vince's intelligence but part of me wonders if VY doesn't have some kind of learning disability. Personally, I hate it when people mistake symptoms of a learning disability for stupidity. Not sayin' VY is a genius and not sayin' he should be on this team. Just sayin' that you shouldn't judge him without knowing more. (And supposedly he scored a 16 on the Wonderlic, not a 6 as widely reported.)
  6. Yeah, but we never cheated. Belicheat's a jerk. Same can't be said for Marv.
  7. Actually, if you read the article, his explanation of why he did it sounds pretty genuine to me - his son was at a midnight showing of the movie the same night and it freaked him out. If you're a parent, you'll understand. And he specifically said he made it public as a challenge to others to step up. I was seriously impressed with his perspective. He's got a heck of a lot more empathy for every day people than some of the politicians in the country.
  8. Yeah but I think that has to do with some of the players not being used in the right way. I love Lindy, but I don't think he always gets the best out of his players. Chan, on the other hand, seems to have shown he can design a system that exploits players' strengths. He's still got some proving to do, but I like where this is going.
  9. Love the part around 2:45 or so where a huge hole opens up in the line and he pops into it and is like, "Whoa, a quarterback! Where'd that come from?" Seriously, things I got from this: 1. He's fast. The first sack where he gets Sanchez is pretty impressive. 2. He doesn't give up. 3. Tebow has no sense of what's going on around him when he's in the pocket.
  10. I was really rooting for Naaman, but it seems clear that he's pretty far down on the chart. It's too bad. He was a great story.
  11. I loved Kenneth Davis! Great back. Could've started for some teams. Glad to see he's doing well!
  12. Sweet car. (Hate to be a buzzkill, but he should wear his seatbelt. A seatbelt saved my life once.)
  13. In the Glory Years, I seem to recall everyone wanting lots of December games because the Bills knew how to play in that kind of weather. Have we gotten that soft? Believe me, if I had the money, I'd be a season ticket holder and I'd be there for every single game, rain, snow, or shine.
  14. Dude, in the Glory Years it held over 80,000. They reduced the number to add luxury boxes sometime in the late 90s or early 00s.
  15. I don't know his personal record (since I don't know if he missed any Jets games during his career), but during his 11 year tenure with the Bills, the Bills were 16-6 against the Jets (that's a .727 winning percentage). The two teams have only met in the playoffs once (1981).
  16. My condolences on your loss. Hang in there.
  17. That's awesome. Marcel's gonna be good this year. I know letting Florence go was a good football move, but I liked him.
  18. God, I miss those days. 1987-1993 were some seriously awesome years. I still have trouble believing that Reed isn't in the Hall yet. The guy was incredible over the middle. All these Hall voters just look at the pure numbers instead of really looking at how people played the game.
  19. I have a friend who is a die-hard Pats* fan. He read some book that claimed that the Giants gameplan was to let Thurman run like crazy because they figured it was their only chance of staying in the game.
  20. I suspect that the scheduling is primarily done by a computer. They probably hand-pick the prime-time games and then let the computer do its thing.
  21. I think the optimistic thing here is that Merriman's not being relied on. We now have enough other talent that, if they all remain reasonably healthy (expect a few games lost here and there), they should be pretty good - and possibly even scary. Love the reference to that old Dennis Hopper commercial.
