Unfiltered With Sammy Watkins
HardyBoy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good for him, I really like Watkins! That being said, Yolo, I think we'd be surprised by many players don't care about the playoffs, hate football, play just for the money, and view the skills they were born with as a curse. Sammy is not one of those players, that's for sure! -

Would Tebow be a better back up QB than EJ?
HardyBoy replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tebow is not completing this throw in his wildest dreams: http://m.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Buffalo-Bills-tight-end-Chris-Gragg-27-yard-reception/5f53c899-75f7-4f85-bc50-11c365675c71 -
Toxic Differential Update: Thru Week 13
HardyBoy replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can we add three and out percentage to the metric? Ratio of plays behind schedule to on schedule as well. That should take into account game changing plays for and against, as well as consistency/efficiency. -
Ha "girls," priceless... No it's not all about personal satisfaction, it's about entering into fair mutually equal transactions. Obviously these women signed up for something where they felt the personal satisfaction they would get would compensate them for their time, and once they got in there they realized it wasn't even close and they were being taken advantage of.
-
They signed up to stand on the sidelines during games I would imagine...is that all they were doing? And, they did get compensated, so it's not a volunteer job, so comparing it to a volunteer job is what is not apples to apples. Billion dollar team taking advantage of people and you blame the people...let me guess, they were asking for it going out dressed that way?

Jones isn't that type of person anymore. -

Jones turned his life around...he gave a really good interview on the Dan Lebatard Show in October...actually feel pretty bad for the guy right now, and it's funny Hughes wears 55 also. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13830959/adam-jones-cincinnati-bengals-credits-coach-marvin-lewis-helping-get-hole -

Jones turned his life around too big time. That was brutally rough , but the hit on AB was worth 30 yards, that was pretty bad. -

Herm Edwards Rant Toward Mccoy and Murray
HardyBoy replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A) they shouldn't have to, do you shut off social media on your free time so you can focus on your job? B) this is nothing new in our society, shown by the words of Elton John: Even when you died Oh the press still hounded you All the papers had to say Was that Marilyn was found in the nude That was how long ago? C) This is newer to sports though, and I think we can point to Tiger Woods as the tipping point, although the coverage of TO by espn, putting some of their best journalists (funny they used to have a ton of those) on TO watch was a very jarring shift to me at least. That was staged by the agent too, probably with the promise of future exclusive info. I've cut the cord though so haven't had espn in my life basically for the last four years. Grantland (rip), Dan Le Batard Show (I've been in South Florida for the last 4 years and have been listening quite regularly well before he went to espn), and well written in depth articles that come across my Twitter feed is how I do sports now. Really sad to see how espn devolved into what it is now. Cold Pizza compared to First Take enough said. -

I don't know, if I see something I don't like I will typically say something. If he raised what is a valid concern and something that could lead to espns eventual downfall (manufacturing news, and being basically a gossip, hot take rag) and then was told to go f himself essentially, I fully support what he did. In some situations quitting is the most appropriate course of action, but other times more subversive means to bring about change, or to start a conversation, are necessary. What if they told him right before they started filming, 'we don't care what you think, don't forget that espn makes the people, not the other way around, we pay you to read the teleprompter, not to have opinions.' On top of that they are having massive layoffs and he is probably seeing talented disruptive leaders being let go, while kiss asses and followers keep their jobs. -

They have production meetings where they choose the topics that will be discussed. Those choices are typically made by the show's producers, not the talent. Producers get their marching orders from the executives, so no he doesn't get to pick what he talks about. Actually similar to coach/gm relationship. GM picks the players, and coach chooses how to use them. Sounds like Edwards is getting sick of his GM (producer) forcing players (topics) on him that don't match his scheme (desired discussion topics). Think he might even be thinking about it that way, because he said pretty much exactly that right before he really blew up. -

What I took from that is his underlying frustration is the huge amount of time spent discussing and moralizing on what players say, instead of breaking down games. Throw in deflategate, Hardy, Rice, TO, etc I think he just had enough. I think his anger at shady is more that if players would just not talk about that stuff, the media wouldn't have anything like that to talk about, and they would talk about the games. He was about to walk off stage in protest, and I'm sorry but no way dude is getting that worked up about what one player said to the media. This is a much deeper issue for him, definitely wasn't what he signed up to discuss and hopefully this leads to some changes in how espn does things (it won't, but would be nice). -

I think that might be going too far, because he spoofs himself as a race baiting blowhard all the time. He is no Sully though, who is of the 'current/past' generation, that's for sure! -

If you don't already you should listen to Lebatard. This is one of the main tenants of everything he does on his radio show. Entire show is a spoof on sports radio. -

CTE Discovered in Frank Gifford's Brain

You can make a ton more money playing baseball though. Could football's key to survival be that it isn't played all year long, like baseball and basketball, so the cost of developing the players is more heavily the responsibility of the school districts than the families. Elite go to elite camps over the summer, sure, but I'm sure you get scholarships for that. -

CTE Discovered in Frank Gifford's Brain

Absolutely, but what about their moms? What if the general perception shifts and football isn't seen as an appropriate suburban and urban sport, and is relegated to both really densely populated areas with real low per capita income, and really rural areas, where cost of living is low so, a little goes a long way. What if Lebron played football? What if TO played basketball? Shoot, what if Hogan played lacrosse? Pegula should of brought a basketball team back to Buffalo or Rochester before investing that much in a sport that has substantial risk (especially at that price). Happy he did of course. A 19 year old is definitely going to feel invincible, but they are more going to feel guided by their friends to play a more glamorous sport. Also, don't discount a kid's morality...they are hitting the kids who will later have head injuries, and they are hurting future loved ones. Thinking lacrosse has a chance to get big actually. Played for a long time, and the sport has surprisingly few head injuries from my experience and is a ton of fun, with really good college scholarship opportunities. -
CTE Discovered in Frank Gifford's Brain

If I told you you could live till you were 90, but the last 10 of those years were in a near vegetative state, the last twenty in severe pain where any kind of movement hurts, and the last fifty (since you were forty) you are a complete jerk to everyone around you. Literally having crazy intense mood swings over truly nothing, where your family has no idea if you will straight up murder them, because it's that bad and they watch the news and others with CTE have done that, and even more have killed themselves. Would you sign up for that at 19 fully knowing the future? Would you sign your future family up for that? Seriously, would you? -
That should have been a late hit on Tyrod, and that's where hurt his shoulder too.

Report: NFL considers "over-the-top" Yahoo TNF deal

The Wiz, what I'm trying to say is if you cut the super bowl audience down to 10% the advertisers aren't paying that amount for the ads. Basically, if they show a super bowl ad in the forest, does anyone see it? The answer is no, there is nothing to show because it doesn't get made.
