  1. Chan was brought in to stabilize the franchise. Him and Nix seem to have a plan. the Oline is progressing nicely. I think they are a year and player away from being a great unit. This year is not a playoff year, but more a 8-10 win campaign. If the team plays with the heart it did this past year, and there is a few more talented players added, then i think this is achievable. 2012 is when you hope you can start to really make a run, but the Bills are still missing the QB piece, which is huge!
  2. If you were going to make a change at DCord, you would have. You dont bring a guy in as one thing and then change him to another before a single game has been played. Wannstedt definetly gives another strong defensive mind to the staff. I like his knowledge and hope he can work well with Edwards. Sometimes it does not have to be 'all or nothing'.
  3. Does this change Lucks mind? Now what if Stanford hires a head coach that decides he wants to run a different offense? Luck has to learn a new system? Any thoughts? or Does it not change a thing for Luck?
  4. Isn't that true about any qb? Not trying to be a smartass. Mallet had his chance to prove he was a gamer lastnight. He failed. If you noticed after he had his rahrah speech on the side line, the team never got another point. Just saying. I know he is trying to be a leader, but to me, you either have it or you dont.
  5. I saw this too. No way they take a CB. If they do then Bills fans can revisit Buddys' interview where he stated he watches the same game as everyone else. If the Bills dont have a shot at Luck(which they shouldn't), then they have to go front 7 on D. CB is not a concern when you do not have a pass rush. If the Bills had any semblance of a rush, these corners/dbs would be awesome. The QB from Mizzou was also weird. Not sure about that one. Kind of seemed like an 'I told you about him first' thing from McShay.
  6. I remember seeing a scout a few days after the 2009 draft. He told me then Byrd would have the biggest immediate impact for the Bills. Boy was he right. He hesitated on saying Byrd was a great pick. When i asked about Woods and Levitre he liked both. Said Levitre probably would have been there a little later. But did not criticise the pick.Said both should be solid players. The only pick he really seemed to think was a big reach was Maybin. While he agreed with everything as far as speed went. He fet as if he would not be able to utilize that alone at the Pro Level. And questioned whether he could learn other techniques due to his size. I have also spkoe to some guys i know that work on a dtd basis with the players. And Maybin is not the most savy football player. They did not say he was dumb, but that it is hard for him to learn new things.- Sounds like a nice way of saying slowing to me. Anyways Maybin and Hardy are two busts from the most recent years. If this team is going to build a strong foundation, they can not miss in the first 4 rounds.
  7. Sorry, but being down here in SEC country i have watched him a lot. Nice piece, but what you expect. he knows what his big knock is. he is trying to grow up, but when the bullets are flying, your true colors come out. It could take years for the maturation process to be complete. The Bills dont have that kind of time. Pick a qb that can step in and start like Flaco, Ryan, Freeman, Sanchez, or Stafford. Or pick a stud D front seven guy. But Mallet to me has the makings of another guy with all the potential, and no true leadership qualities. Fitz has shown this year how much more important that is. Edwards was a far more talented qb, but had no real natural born leadership qualities.
  8. you finally see some direction in the franchise. Something that has been lacking since Butler left. I do not believe this coaching/gm regime can take the Bills to the championship level. but they can get the franchise back to legitimacy. It is a process. God knows the next decade is due to be a better then the last.
  9. I have hoped and thought that Gailey would restore some order to the franchise. he is by no means a championship coach. While at tech, his big knock was that he belonged in the pros. he is a good guy, a smart football mind and while not a sexy hire, he has maybe stabilized the franchise. The one positive i see is that he and nix are working together. If they go out and draft heavy D front 7, then we know we have some direction. This team has heart. A comeback win like this past weekend proves that. No doubt. the bengals are still a pro team. They quit on lewis, chans boys rallied. that tells you he has their heads and hearts. That is what any leader needs to be succesful. Lets just hope they stay focused and win a few more games. Build on it for next season. beat the steelers? nah. but lets see if they compete and take them to the wire.
  10. You described Andree Reed there basically. Not great size, speed or athleticism. But some guys are just gamers. Now is Stevie going to be the next Reed, who knows. but his numbers this year make an optimist Billieve!
  11. Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that Galla's also opened a new location at 1155 Mt Vernon Rd Sandy Springs Ga 30338. We will be showing the games here too. We are huge long time Bills fan! we show the games at both our locations. (4849 Peachtree rd Chamblee Ga 30341 is our other location), We would like to invite you guys to come down. Dr dankenstein, thank you for the kind words about the food. We try hard to bring the best style of pizza to the south. As well as wings and wecks! Take care guys, Go BILLS!!!!
  12. I dont agree totally about the Bills O line. they are starting to play a lot better. Now the D front seven you have Kyle Williams and Poz. After that nothing much but back ups and guys on the decline of their career.
  13. Yes, But you got the ball back at your one with just over a minute left. Very Big difference between that and say at the 30 yd line with around a minute and half.
  14. When Chan challenged the Roscoe catch with just over 2 mins, he reminded me of old Dick. First of all it was not even close. Second of all you waste your second time out. The Bills could have punted the ball away. Had two timeouts and the two minute warning. If they held the Bears(like they did) the Bills would of had the ball probably more around their 30 with some where around 1:30. Much better chance of driving to get the tieing field goal. Anyone else feel this way?
  15. I disagree. Haveing a new coach and new system and management in place is when you need to start winning. The Falcons went out and drafted Ryan in the same offseason they hired Mike Smith and Dimitrof was brought in. If the Bills could put together 4-5 wins in the last half of the season it makes the players buy into what the coach is preaching. Maybe even rise up and beat a NE or NY in one of those. Helps with confidence. Besides 4-5 wins you are going to probably be picking in the top 5. You would be able to get a great player in that position. The best maybe not, but just picking first does not mean you get the best player. It also may allow you more options to trade back some, if that is the approach you want to take. Nobody want to trade up to the first or second pick. As the system stands now, teams dont want to be on the hook for that salary.
  16. Heaps two touchdowns were directly on the shoulders of the safeties. And the flea flicker was all Whitner biting. That play hardly ever works to that degree. He was wide open by a god 7-10 yds. I dont dislike Whitner, but he is not a good safety. He is more or less a reserve in my opinion. If he was not such a leader, you would probably have seen him cut by now.
  17. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying i do not want a Bradford or Matt Ryan(3rd pick of rd1). I just ment worry about the draft after you play the 16th game. Then you really see what you need, and what is available.
  18. Ok, I have seen this on here week after week. About how losing the game is better then winning because the Bills are not going to the playoffs. Now these posters are the same ones who rip management for poor drafts. So does this honestly make any sense? How has haveing the top pick or in the top 5 for years been for Detroit? Because you pick first gaurantees nothing. Yesterday, Stevie Johnson(7th rd) had the best day of any player on the field. Ok maybe Fitz, but he again was a later round pick. Sorry but winning and losing is a culture. You expect it. Other teams look at you differently. You can have a mental edge if you are known for being a winner. This team is filled with a bunch of young guys. Guys who were barely alive back in the glory days of this franchise. They need to start makeing their own winning tradition. The Ravens had a very up and down campaign in 1999, but finished strong. I read that a lot of guys on the Ravens used that as motivation and belief for the 2000 Super Bowl team. Any coach will tell you that a team has to start believing they can and deserve to win, before they will. So sorry to you 'fans' who are happy you might get the top pick. You stand apart from me. oh and what happens if said player gets hurt on the first play of preseason? Then what? Hope for another terrible season?
  19. IF, and that is big IF, this team could put a whole game together, then yes they could string together a few wins. Be careful with putting a lot of faith in Fitz, he is a back up. He will look like a starter a lot of times, but then make some really bad decisions. Also the D front 7 is very bad. No way of sugar coating it. I too am optimistic. Just think if they could run the ball like they did against N.E and pass like they did yesterday against Balt. The Bills would have a shot against anyone. Being consistent is what they need to work on, and mental mistakes. Two things all young teams struggle with. And do not discount how important it is to win a few games this year. teach some of these younger guys what it feels like. Do not get use to loosing! Forget draft positioning. Look at yesterday. The best performances the Bills have had in years came from a couple of late round picks (Fitz and Johnson).
  20. when you are on a bad team it is harder to make an impact. it is called a supporting cast. If you put Spiller on a team with a very good qb and oline, you would be seeing a much different player, imho.
  21. Way to early to compare Spiller to Johnson. First of all i think Johnson went into a better situation. Spiller is involved with the rebuilding of a team. Not to mention an offensive line that is very young and learning to come together. Spiller did miss some holes yesterday. i can not defend him on that. It was like an all or nothing approach. I agree with one of the posters, it seemed like a coach got in his head. He maybe got told to stop going east and west, instead go north and south. Then he tried to pound it up the middle with out really looking for a cut back lane. He will get there. The kid has the talent. He is not a Reggie Bush type of player. To me he is more a Barry Sander style...with more size. He can stop on a dime. He gets you off balance and then runs threw you. Take a leason from Stevie Johnson...it may take a little time.
  22. After the draft i said he could develope into a good reciever given the numbers he put up in his senior season at Kentucky. Season Year GP GS Rec Yds Avg TDs FL --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- '06-'07 13 0 12 159 13.3 1 --- '07-'08 13 13 60 1041 17.4 13 You should never undervalue the type of competition a college kid goes against. If you put up good numbers in the SEC, then chances are you can develope into a much more legit player then say the MAC or Big East. No slap on those confrences, but the SEC has the best talent bar none. Yes he was a one year wonder. The Bills took a developemental player in the 7th round. The correct approach. Now i know they screwed the pooch on countless others. If Johnson can sustain that level of play, the Bills could be building something. Think about it. Johnson and Evans at wide outs. You got a few other that are looking promising for the third spot. Then you got Spiller at RB. He too will develope. You saw yesterday what a good qb can do. I am not sure Fitz is that guy. I think he is the definition of a 'hot and cold' qb. But when you have a qb makeing good decisions it turns out the Bills have a few options at reciever.
  23. All about the combine for him now. If he shows up ready to work out, he will still go in the top 10. The ball is still in his court.
  24. You have to break down both the Lynch and Peters moves before you criticize them. Lynch was a numbers move. And also a look at his off field troubles. If he gets in one more altercation or incident off field he will prob miss atleast half a season or more. Plus he also has gotten banged up numerous times. Freddy plas hard and is a leader. Spiller is going to be the starter of the future. Or be used like Bush in N.O. I love the Peters move. I was listening to the post game Falcons broadcast here in Atlanta. Jeff Van Note does it with a local radio guy. Now if you dont know who he is, Van Note was the Falcon center for 18 years and played in multiple pro bowls. They started talking about the Eagles, the Falcons next opponent. Mike Vick was relly the topic, but Van Note said the Eagles dont have a good Oline. Van Note stated that Jason Peters is the most overrated LT in the game. Now that is comming from an old oline man, who does not have national coverage, and who knows a thing or two about line play. He is not just spitting back out what Peter King says. The Peters move was a good one. Hopefully Woods goes on to play in a few pro bowls and then even stat guys will see it was the Bills who got it right.
  25. A few weeks back there was a post about Jim Kelly on a radio show out west. He said that this season is going to test us as Bills fans. I agree. We can not leave our team. My wife like many of yours (or maybe your husbands), always asks why i can't like another team? I tell her it is like why do you like blue not yellow or why you like dogs not cats. Its just bred into you. Now i know we have an owner who has made very bad decisions. Heck since he hired Polian, i can not really think of one good one. But we as fans have to support our team. We need to show the league that we love our team. Not going to a game is not the answer. Not watching your team is not the answer. You have to stick in there during these tough times. This team will win again. And when they do, dont you want to be able to really celebrate it? I think Chan and Buddy can put this team back on the right course. I do not think Chan can win a Super Bowl or even make a deep run in the playoffs. But i think he can get this orginization back to respectability with Buddys help. Thats when you can hire a good coach. No great young coach was comming here last off season. We have to see what Buddy and Chan do in the off season. They are getting to evaluate all the talent and see what they have going forward. Practice and preseason are one thing, but when the bullets are flying you find out what you got. They tried with Trent, if nothing else it was a good precedent for other players. the rest of the league saw what Chan and Buddy did. They gave him a shot and when it wasn't working out they let him go. Instead of buring him on the bench. He was able to find another team that might let him see the field. Players respect that. And they are not blind, they saw Trent not playing well. So we are going to be tested. You can have some faith in the new Coaches or not. it is up to you. Me? I have no choice. i love the Bills and always will. And i am not a blind loyalist. But i can not root for another team. And i love football!
