  1. The NFL is constantly changing. I don't think this is always the case anymore. When teams are able to find starters deeper in the draft , a team can forgo overpaying.
  2. This smacks of passive aggressiveness.I don't know John from Adam's house cat, but I have read enough of his posts to know he understands football. John is an optimist about Bills players. Honestly, shouldn't we all be as Bills fans? What joy is taken from wanting a player to not be good ? Is it so a poster can say ' I know something about football'? I have been guilty of this in the past. As for Shaq, it is far to early to tell. Beasley in Atl had a less than stellar rookie season. The coaching staff moved his position for his second season and he led the league in sacks. Players do get better and develop. Coaching helps with this a ton. Look at our own Lorax! Positive thinking is really something we need more of. Any of you claiming to emphatically know anything about Lawson are just speculating with hopes of being able to say 'see I told you'. i would rather be able to watch one of my teams players turn out to be good. This is entertainment, what not watch it for the happy ending? We are due that.
  3. Correct, and we do not have the same talent on paper in the defensive backfield as we did in 2014. IF this group plays up to near those standards, I think we need to recognize the coaching.
  4. Look, I'm not saying the Bills played the 2007 Pats offense, I am saying McDermott knows how to coach the backend of the D. Frazier does as well. They won't look great every game, but I expect in game adjustments like we have not seen in a long time.
  5. I wonder if that has anything to do with coaching?
  6. I think many of the level headed fans feel the same way John. New coach , new GM, the feel is everyone is unified in the approach . Turnover on the roster has us interested to see the product on the field. All this said I think the Bills are building something that will take some time. In sports though I have seen that time line speed up or never arrive. I also don't know how much we are going to learn after today. Opening day and football is back and that's all that matters. Go Bills!
  7. Yep, I don't think Michael's was hating on Buffalo. He has struck me as one of the best in the business for a reason.
  8. I have a friend who this exact same thing happened to. Gambling is a serious addiction just like all the rest. My friend lost his family and ended up In federal prison for 3 years. While I have never listened to this guy on the radio or know anything about him, I bet he is in a very bad place now. Try showing some compassion. We all make mistakes.
  9. I think some guys are just wanting to show they understand coverage more than they really care about Gilmore. I get it.
  10. Gilmore is on the Pats. Shouldn't every Bills fan want him to give up touchdown passes? Shouldn't we as Bills fans want touch down passes to occur while Golmore is one the field or off the field? Move on people.
  11. Yep, that's how I feel about him right now. Hopefully he can develop footwork so he doesn't appear lost on an island with the pass rusher. His body language in some of the clips by the OP(thank you for those) make him look tentative and as if he is forcing himself. The one clip where his drop foot is kicking back and touching is text book practice rep. It appears Like many players up to this point physical ability has carried them. At the NFL level he will need to improve technique. It can be done.
  12. what makes you say that?
  13. I am not going to claim to be an expert on coverages. I played Oline into college and cover 2 vs cover 1 vs cover 3 etc always confused me. I can say that I watch a good bit of college and pro football. It appears Gilmore is the victim of a break down in communication of coverage more than the average DB. I really don't get why this happened while he was in Buffalo and now in his first game w NE it has occurred. Gilmore is long and fast and has everything you want in a top end CB. BB broke the bank because he sees the window closing. I don't believe Thursday is the nail in the coffin for the Pats dynasty. The Pats won't go down without a fight. When the slide does happen let's hope it's a fast one that opens the door to every other team.
  14. I think once you are able to get some sleep, things will seem more manageable and some perspective will come into focus. A football forum isn't where I go for my news on life or death matters.
  15. Collinsworth's response was classic 'they're gonna circle the wagons on you'. It felt like a tip of the hat to Boomer, and trying to get Michaels back in line.
  16. Very strong mauler type. He looks like he is still developing as a pass blocker. His footwork on setting and engaging passrushers needs to improve. He will be used in sub packages for short yardage. Let's hope he can get better with coaching and playing time on he pass blocking.
  17. Whoa. I don't think anyone in their right mind would put up a stat showing a 21 out of 32 ranking and say 'see he is elite'.
  18. The fact that so many of you dislike what they are doing gives me hope. The Bills are not going to be good this year most likely. Three years. Let's see where they are in 2020. After hearing where and how these two guys started in the League, they are going to figure it out. Pegs has to be patient. They will make mistakes but they are smart and humble and will learn from them. These two men have been successful and will be successful in these roles. I hope it's with the Bills.
  19. Because McD knows that TT will get done what McD needs to happen .
  20. Interesting take, I never thought of it in those terms. Whay approach do you like to see you GM take for talent acquisition? As for MCDermot and Beane, why not let them try? Look they have acquired draft picks for the next draft to help them build. They have traded and removed or released players that they felt were not in the long term plan. They made none of these moves to save money for the owner but to give themselves ability to spend where needed when needed. This is a three year process . This is how it was done 15-20 years ago to really fix teams. The coach and GM are not dumb. They know the Bills don't have talent to beat the greatest coach and QB combo in the history of the game. I think this is going to be a tough year to watch . I also think this is the beginning of something good.
  21. You skipped a lot of letters to connect those dots OP. The coach and GM are going all in on fixing an issue and trying to get a team out of playoff hell. Who cares if they stink this year, the Bills have stunk for 17 years really. Cutting or trading the backup RB isn't going to be the move that brings home the Lombardi Trophy.
  22. Jim Ritcher. Besides being a great guard for many years he was a class guy. I had the privilege of growing up around the Bills of the late 70's and 80's. Jimmy always was a good guy to me and my family. He was a workout fiend as well. Tough as nails.
  23. how many times has this worked out? Trading for a back up QB
  24. I feel for Caldwell but he made his bed with Bortles and Marrone. Doubt Dave makes it another off season.
