Week 5, Cheats v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!

They do something smarter. They form entities that are not taxed at those rates and channel as much money into those as they can. Perfectly legal. That's how the entire Warren Buffet marginal rate vs his secretary discussion came about. The point is that it is a disincentive to work if marginal brackets exceed fairly well defined levels. Capital finds efficiency, and confiscatory rates cause it to move either into other instruments or off shore.

A lot of talk about Maye. Warner broke down some film of him if you want to have a look and haven't really seen the kid play this year.

I do understand common sense. And trolling. Good riddance indeed. -
Justin Herbert dating singer Madison Beer??

I think @boyst would claim otherwise. Just a hunch. She's hot. Looks like Megan Fox. I also bet you'd find most NFL players have pretty attractive significant others. -

I'd argue it's relatively unlikely they are considering trading for him. I base that on the fact that they still have a ton of time left to re-structure. They are indeed keeping their options open there. IMO they're loving having three guys who can really play at TE. Gives them chess pieces, and allows them to run three TE formations, which they've already done quite a bit, with great success so far. -
Thats pretty tough, like someone pointed out in another thread; they escaped last season with little to no injuries to their key players. Seems like itβs coming full force. Their season might be down the pan if they drop the next 2 games as the talk is Lamar might not be available for both. Definitley out this weekend.

Yup. But he's smaller than those guys. Players get hurt. Littler RBs used more tend to get hurt at higher rates and wear down faster. Travis Henry? There's a blast from the past. You mean Derrick, right? Derrick has been extremely healthy over his long career, missing significant time in one year of his career entering his tenth year. Derrick Henry missed almost no time his first five years. Bucky Irving has not been so lucky, and his size likely is part of the reason for that. Irving had 207 carries last year, exactly the same amount Cook had. And only about forty more snaps than Cook had as well. I'm hoping they can ramp their use of Cook back down more towards what it was last year. But I do agree that Davis hasn't looked as good so far this year. They may feel forced to use Cook a lot based on the state of the RB room rather than what they would like if things looked better there. -
I maintain my position that the Bills biggest problem on defense is missed tackles. I remember McDs first few years and the reason bend but don't break worked so well was the guys swarmed the ball fast and made the tackle.

I don't know why Brady wouldn't run the ball and make NE prove they can stop it. Like I said elsewhere, Carolina rang up 129 yds rushing, from 3 backs, without any long runs. They just got piled into a hole in the first half by special teams miscues and had to get away from it. The Dolphins are like 31st for attempts and 27th for yards, pretty bad run game. The Steelers are 23 for attempts, 31st for yards, bad run game. The Raiders are middle of the pack, 15th for yards - I don't know, maybe NE stifled them or maybe they weren't trying to run much - racked up 362 yds passing in a close loss.

Sounds like if we don't get Milano/Oliver back this week that we will probably get them back next week.

Uh, huh. And who was the QB and the HC during those wins? It's kind of funny you mention McDaniels as "tied for Andy Reid as the most prolific OC in the game" when in fact, Andy Reid was never an OC in the NFL! He was tight ends coach/QB coach in GB when he was hired as HC in Philly. Yet Reid is credited as the offensive mind that crafted and refined the Philly offense, and the KC offense, as HC. Many would say the same about Belichick, who was famous as a micro-manager of his assistants. I don't know, so I don't mind giving McDaniels some credit for the Patriots offense, which was strong when he left for Denver/Stl and strong when he came back. But it's only fair to point out his mixed record as an offensive architect and QB developer with other teams. That play was funny AF and poignant, too. It clearly took a lot out of Eason to do it, but it's a shame it's not a movie or still running somewhere. Maybe not enough football fans who want to attend plays?

Leave it to you to pull out one man show tidbits

No, he wasn't. Grogan was with NE for 15 years - 1975 to 1990, started his first 6 years then remained as a backup. Eason started in NE from 1984 to 1986 Fun backstory: I don't know this kind of stuff generally, but I had the chance to see a one-man play called "Runt of the Litter" by former NFL safety Bo Eason, Tony's younger brother, which was loosely based on his experiences growing up then going to college and making it to the pro's, as the less innately gifted, harder working "runt". So I got interested and researched them a bit.

Considering looking at last year's play calls to this year's play calls I think he's only called about 35% of his offense I think he's got a lot left -

Through 3 episodes now, and I'm really liking it! "Task" on HBO is a good watch as well. -
It's been my feeling that the Bills D last year was somewhere between its points ranking (11th and its yards ranking (17th). Mid-tier, not as good as 2023 when they were 4th/9th. This is consistent with EPA per play and DVOA that you reference. I've heard others speak well of DVOA. But not bottom of the league or bottom-third overall.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW β At the One-Quarter Mark
Thurman#1 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great stuff, Shaw. It really is different from the old days when teams had more time to get ready for the early weeks of the season. It really does seem that these days the team has to come to understand it's identity during those first 4 - 7 weeks or so. And that you just don't know what you're getting before then, even if you think you do.
