I appreciate @Gugny's attempt to bring some statistical context to it but the records of the teams after appearing on Hard Knocks are irrelevant because the context is what the expectations for that team were. The quick and dirty (and arguably best) way to measure the impact of appearing on the show would be to know what the Vegas over/under for wins was for that team compared to their final record. Also btw, in 14 pages and counting, no one has come remotely close to providing conclusive data that appearing on the show has a generally adverse effect on the subject teams' season. Zero upside? I suppose anything short of a Super Bowl victory will be enough for people agreeing with you to say "I told you so." However Vegas has the Bills wins over/under at 11.5 for the upcoming season. To me if they exceed that win total, there was no adverse effects from appearing on the show. Thank you very much. I'm glad someone else sees it the same way.

I don't think Beane voluntarily put a bullseye on himself. The WGR thing was pretty much a steam of consciousness thing where he was kind of all over the place torn between talking sh!t about how smart he is(Josh Allen 2018 draft) and making excuses why he can't pay a WR and then dropping the "I signed Joshua Palmer" flex at the end. But yeah, the questions about the WR position will be addressed in Hard Knocks. It would be one thing if it were questions about the safety position that Beane was yelling at local media about...........but putting some extra focus on WR also gives HBO an excuse to keep more focus on QB1.

Posts like that should narrow the divide. 🙄 Did you see what all three said? They don’t like the man, they wish he would shut up, but for the most part, they like his policies and what’s he’s done more than they dislike the persona. I will say I couldn’t disagree with them more on the politics, can’t even imagine thinking that way; but if we ever have a chance of the country not being at each others’ throats constantly, those are the things we should discuss. I’m not jumping ship. And there are certainly some on here on the right that are nothing but trolls (I’m being nice tonight, maybe just a small attempt at lessening the vitriol here, so I won’t name him but you know who I mean. Uses an up arrow so he can pretend he has the world on ignore; as if that’s some badge of honor. And another who literally only talks hate, never adding to the conversation.) But these three gave reasonable answers to my post. You have to agree there. Or maybe you don’t and let’s just keep calling each other names in perpetuity.

I think they just finally ran out of excuses and the NFL forced it on them. They've dodged the first 30 or so of these reality shows. The training camp ones, the in-season, off-season and the Netflix QB and WR docs. Maybe surprisingly exempting them from an international game this year was a concession? But either way I think they would likely have avoided it if the league gave them a choice.
