MaGee is gone. Whitner is on his way out. McKelvin is a question mark. He might even be a return specialist; I mean we just don't know.

If Jauron is here, he will take a db in round 1 just as sure as s--t, unless his power is stripped. And, don't be surprised to see one in round 2 as well. Look at who (Brown) and what (a 2010 1st round pick) he passed on for an injured Byrd.

Jauron is a living nightmare.

Just like he was sure as sh*t to take a DB in the first round this year like everyone expected? Everyone complained that we needed linemen on both sides of the ball. DJ picked up what he thought was the best DE in the draft (time will tell), possibly the best C/G in the draft, and possibly the 2nd best G in the draft after being converted from T. Byrd might be a ball hawk and if/when he turns out like Ed Reed we will all be saying what a great pickup he was at the time. Point being in the first 4 picks he only drafted 1 DB and that might be because hes projected as the 2nd best S in the draft.

Don't you guys know that Jauron is the head coach, and not the guy in charge of drafting players?

the Pats are a great well run organization in a great place to live that players want to go to. Players join the bills when no one else will have them (TO, Stroud, Florence).. good to great players go where they want to go.. (eg. Pia T. taking less $$ to go to the Bears, Crowell taking $1m just to get the h_ll out) and f-ing b-lo isn't on anyone's list... the Bills operate with one leg and one arm tied behind their backs.. assuming you still live in WNY just be grateful you have a team in a city that that is about as far from being a prototypical NFL city as is possible. The bills as presently constituted have no shot. I just hope they will be fun to watch while losing 10 games this year. Give me no huddle , give me Vick. At least entertain me while we wait patiently for Ralph's demise.....

Stroud was TRADED to us and hates the city so much he accepted an extension offer.

Pia T. HIMSELF said it was a tough decision to say no to the Bills. He liked his visit and the staff. Chicago offers him closer proximity to his family as well.

I'm sure Crowell will be an All Pro this year. But he left Buffalo because Tampa made him a BETTER offer. And the Bills STILL had concerns about his knee which wasn't 100% at the time. Plus the Bills had a good idea of his character after he screwed the entire team with his selfish decision to wait until just before the season opener to announce he was having knee surgery. Simple fact is the Bills didn't want him back THAT badly.

I'm glad the prospect of an elderly man passing away gives you hope. Why don't you hire a hit man to do the job and save yourself some grief.

GO BILLS!!!

Everyone on this board should hope that Ralph lives to be 110. The day he kicks the clock is ticking on the BUFFALO bills. They will likely have a year or two left before the big move, to Toronto, or LA, or Oklahoma City, or wherever.

Long live King Ralph.

Please tell me that all of you arent just noticing this? I have been begging for DEs for at least FIVE years . I have prayed that guys the Bills would trade up for guys like Suggs('03), Merrimen('05), M. WIlliams ('06 -wishful thinking I know, but he was a big suprise to go #1), and Harvey('08). I have cursed my TV when they pass on guys like Tuck('05), Kiwanuka('06), Brown('09), and Ngata ('09 - DT, DE whats the dif, we need help in both places). The Bills have been ignoring this obvious problem for almost the entire DECADE. One pretty decent DE (Schobel) is not enough to make the playoffs--clearly. Now that Schobel is old and slow, we need two new starters, AND backups.

This team could have Harvey, Maybin, and Brown in just the last two drafts. But instead our DB obsessed FO has McKelvin, Maybin, and Byrd. We could have drafted guys like Kiwanuka*, Tuck, and Ngata in the past without needing to trade (*McCargo trade selection). When you completely ignore the position for the better half of a decade you will end up in this situation....

That would have been a magical selection, you know, drafting a player that was already drafted 3 spots ahead of us and all.

This is why it blew my mind when the Bills were on the clock at 43 and they kept showing E. Brown. Then the Bills went ahead and got a DB. Carolina was happy because after we picked Bryd they traded next years 1st to grab Brown. I bet they thought we were gona take Brown as well. If we would have grabed Orakapo 1st instead of Maybin. Then Brown after Wood we would be set with those 2 for the next 10 years. But Dick and co screwed that one up as they do many games. Sad but kinda funny nothing ever changes.

Even funnier was that after the Nelson pick the next 3 were DBs. I thought we had plenty already on the roster. But who needs a front 7? We were obviosly set there. And I realize N. Harris is making the transition to LB.

I agree. But, according to Jauron's thought process, good DB's & Safeties create turnovers on their own, they don't come from DE's, DT's & LB's getting good pressure on the QB.

Man, you guys, this is the 800 lbs gorilla in the room that people outside of this board don't talk about.

"Oh, the line has issues"

"Is T.O. going to cause problems."

"I don't know if Edwards is a true starter in this league."

???????????

Uh, no, talking heads, how about, "Is it my imagination or are the Bills' DEs getting eaten alive?"

Nice try...but I'm not one of the doom & gloom posters that you mention. I'm glad TO is on our team & I look forward to Edwards having a good year.

IMO, our pass-rush has been a problem for years. It became painfully obvious last season. IMO, Schobel is not woth the $8.7M a year he is getting. In 2007, he had 6.5 sacks, so the FO said the reason the DE's weren't getting many sacks was due to our DT's, so they traded for Stroud and draft Ellis in the 3rd round. Last season, we had a total of 24 sacks, which ranked 28th in the league. Schobel had 1 sack in the 5 games he played in. The FO gives him a pass due to his injury. So, since we have the 4th worst pass rush in the league, the only thing the FO does to improve it is draft Maybin in the first round. So, one player is suppose to turn around our pass rush problem? If Schobel can't turn things around, then he should be cut loose after the season. On any other team in the NFL, Kelsay would not be a starter. If we could get a better DE than Denney, I would cut him loose as well. Ellison should not be starting, we need a much better LB than him. Also, IMO we need another stud DT next to Stroud. But instead, the Bills FO drafts 4 players in the secondary we our pass defense was ranked at 13th. So tell me genious, the Bills address our 28th ranked pass rush by drafting one player and address our 13th ranked pass defense by drafting 4 players, tell me how that makes any sense?!

Dude you are an idiot. Did you even read the first part of the post, where I clearly state that I was praying the Bills would TRADE UP to acquire Harvey, among others?

First of all, don't call me an idiot. I refuse to be lumped into any category that you're already in.

Second, yes I did. Then you went on to say "the Bills could have had him." That is not true. Sure, the Bills could "have" Peyton Manning if they wanted as well, you wanna get on them for not doing it? He wasn't there when we picked, plain and simple.

Oh, and they could have got a 1st round pick in 2010 for the Byrd selection.

Link? Where has it been reported that the Bills were offered a 2010 first rounder? They weren't.

Just because a team traded with another team lower than us doesn't mean they offered us the same deal or even talked with us. But keep on spinning your usual worthless drivel.

Wow. You have a way of convincing yourself you are a God dont you. Yesterday you convinced yourself that Trent was sacked vrs Tenn and the Bills ran all these 5 wide sets and even invented your own defensive front. Today you want to tell me I cannot be mad that the Bills didnt make a play for Derrick Harvey.

Was Derrick Harvey in the 2008 draft? Was the 8th overall pick used to select Derrick Harvey traded to the Jaguars? Therefore, at pick number 8, all 32 NFL teams had a legit shot to draft him. Just offer more than the Jags, and he is yours! (The Jaguars traded their 1st, two 3rd, and a 4th rounder) Therefore, I have a legitimate complaint that the Bills did not acquire him.

My reasoning: We didnt need a corner. Resign Greer and we are better off at corner than with McKelvin. We now can trade our first, which was MUCH higher than Balts. We no longer need Ellis at DE, because his pick has been traded away for Harvey. Again, we dont need corners, so Reggie Corners pick is gone. To replace him we dont cut Will James or whoever. That right there may be enough to beat out Jax and get that pick from Balt. Who knows, but dont act like we didnt have to ability to do it.

I wasn't aware Derrick Harvey was a great player.

He is not, but its been one year. Even if he doesn't end up being a great player I still thought he would be great at the time and I wouldn't deny wanting him on the Bills. How good he is/was/will be was not the argument.

It seems rather silly to be bitching about the Bills not trading up for someone when he is not a great player.

Lets face it....if this team fails this year we are going to see a LOT of changes......starting with coaching staff.

I am not convinced DJ lasts the year if Ralph is serious when he says he expects to win.

I would love to go to a 3-4. Yes i know we would need to overhaul the "talent" on that side of the ball..but really how talented are we on D right now?

We are saying all this because Maybin is not in camp......if Byrd ends up being a playmaking safety this will all be forgotten.......it is going to take a while to rebiuld these lines.

Its hard for any of our defensive backfield to make plays when the QB can have a cocktail between snapping the ball and havign to throw it.

You clearly have trouble with what the point of someone's argument is. Was my point that Trent Edwards got sacked? No, it doesn't matter who the damn QB was, the point was that it was Wood's man. Did I even mention anything about being mad the Bills didn't make a play for Harvey? Not at all, my point was that he wasn't there when we picked. You have a serious problem grasping arguments.
