BillsVet Posted August 9, 2009 Share Posted August 9, 2009 I've had my differences with Bills management over the past few years, particularly Ralph. Perhaps I'm caught up in the emotion of the moment, but Ralph did an awesome job tonight. He is a credit to the NFL, to Buffalo, and to all the causes he has quietly supported over the years. And of course, he's a veteran. He was funny, spoke well, and hopefully when I'm 90 I'll look as good as he does. After all, how many people won professional football teams for 50 years? I met Ace Parker, collegiate All-American running back for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the late 1930's, and he was like Ralph is today... in 1996. He is STILL alive, born in 1912!!! I have been extremely fortunate to meet him personally twice, once during the NFL meeting in 1996, and the other while leaving the Bills/Jets game in 1999 in Buffalo. True...but he wasn't scripted like someone can be on a teleprompter. He ad-libbed at the right times, and referred to those notes. And by golly, he was entertaining with those stories. Hence my longterm signature line that Ralph is not the anti Christ. He has kept the team in Buffalo as the city fell apart. He never once looked at a relocation deal. Ralph has been and will be until his death one of the greatest heroes in Buffalo history. Things are warm and fuzzy now for him on this board but when the glow wears off keep in mind all of the things he's done for the city and the team. Think before calling him cheap, a guy who cares more about money than winning and stupid. If they were true he'd be talking about the LA Bills today. 'Nuff said.
