How To Get What We Want

A Detroit fan emailed me today and asked, "Would the Bills trade their #11 to us for our #20 and our RD2 pick (#33)?

I'd do that in a heartbeat. I used DraftTek's Online Draft Simulator to make the trade and Grab Pettigrew.

Detroit likes it because they were after Curry and an O-Line guy in RD1.

(if you'd rather grab someone else, try it--directions are onsite):

Any way you can snag a guard, tight end, and defensive end in the top 45 picks is obviously a complete success. I have a feeling that the Bills may have to trade down to get this done as the talent at pick number 11 is looking like it might not be worth it.

I must underscore that I didn't go to Detroit, Detroit came to us, stated what they wanted (the best LB and a Top 5 LT, if Andre Smith qualifies any more), and I agreed. He said to talk to Brandon and convince him to pull this trade LOL.

First off, let me just say that I love the trade and the pics we'd get. Especially if the people picked before 11 are as shown. However, at 20 I would have to take Maybin. With the second, I take Alex Mack, who is also still there. And the 3rd pick is used on Ayers, who should still be there according to the value chart. Then, with the 4th, I take Travis Beckum. Go ahead and take the other DT with the final pick.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hate the first scenario, but I like this other option better.

If Detroit called today and offered the 20 and 33 for our #11, Russ better ink that deal before the Lions can think twice.

If they use the Pick Value Chart, they would realize they could even get the #9 pick instead of our #11. It is possible that he's already checked with GBay and SanFran and they don't want to do it.

On second thought...is anyone else sick and tired of these second to third round DE's who show little marginal talent and progress slowly or not at all but remain on our roster for what feels like decades?

Hey Astro, you've got me thinking. Isn't it more likely that the Lions go safe at 1 and take Curry or Monroe, and then do the deal with us to get Sanchez or Moreno? Oh this would be SWEET.... This draft is all about the second round. Great value relative to contract price.

I hope all you people excited at the prospect of the trade realize that the friend who e-mailed Astrobot is not Martin Mayhew & Mayhew & the Lions may not be thinking the same as one of their fans is. Also, if Stafford ever fell to pick 8, I'd be shocked. The 1st QB in the draft hasn't been 8th or below since the 2000 draft when Chad Pennington was the 1st QB at pick 18.

Yeah our 11th for Detroits 20 and 33 then trade Peters for Philly's 21, 28 and their 3rd so we have - 20, 21, 28, 33, 42, 75, 85,

The Detroit deal works. But, trust me, Philly is not so desperate for a LT that they would give up two first round picks and a third round pick. If we were foolish enough to get rid of Peters, then, maybe, Philly gives us a 1st and 3rd. No way they would give up 3 of their first 4 picks in this year's draft.
