Deeply Concerned for Our Country

How are the McCain/Palin rallies suggesting racist feelings? Last time I checked, the terrorist talked about the most in this election is white.

The thing about this election I am most tired of is the implication that opposing Obama means you are racist.

McCain and Palin are attempting to tap into the same sentiments that helped foster the militia mentality in the 90's, racism being only a small part of it and for a few, but not all. The rabid hatred fostered out of paranoid fear and distrust of anyone "not like us" is driving their campaign. Pro- versus Anti-American parts of the country, anti-science, anti-tax, anti-immigrant, anti-UN, God-Guns-And-Country, Uber-nationalism...this is the kind of over-the-top rhetoric that drives the terminally stupid to hoard guns in corrugated shacks and turn their hounds loose on census takers. McCain and Palin know full well the type of people who are susceptible to their gutter politics, and prodding these goofs with lies and baiting them with fear into a rage to get them to the polls is the goal. What will these hayseeds do after November 4th, armed to the teeth, driven to insanity and believing America will be overrun with Islamo-fascists and homosexuals is the big question.

The short answer is yes. He has proposed a few plans (health care, taxes, foreign relations, withdraw from Iraq) that I truly object to.

As for this terrorist kick, no, but my point is that there is way too much unknown about these dealings and associations that would enable me to be comfortable voting for him to be our president. Did you read the part in the original post about Aiham Alsammarae? What about his campaign's initial lies regarding how it was spending money with Acorn? Don't forget about Rezko. There is clear underhandedness there.

the list you gave are issues. Of course there is nothing wrong with disagreeing on taxes or health plans. I don't know why you would be scared for America. Were you scared when Clinton was in office? But on anything one could be scared of, that means you would have to believe he was a terrorist sympathizer based on zero evidence, except statements to the contrary.

You're trying awfully hard to be offended on a message board. My statement implies what it does, but you missed the point if you think that it was all people who dislike bush are brainwashed. Instead, it was all people who irrationally dislike bush may lead to some negative overall implications on our government.

Actually, you sure as sh-- sounded like you were equating not supporting Bush with being brainwashed by the "liberal elite media." You were basically saying that anyone opposing Bush can't make any decisions on their own.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." -- Winston Churchill

Where oh where are the Churchills, Franklins, Jeffersons? In the private sector I guess. A few of them are going to have to bite the bullet as a service to their country and get into politics for a few years. Turn the tide of aholeness that has steered the country to the left and certain mediocrity, at best. Very depressing as the constant push to make the US look like Europe and Canada is unrelenting.

Well, all I know is MY taxes will be lower under Obama's plan. So will MOST people's, but I don't really care about most people. Therfore Obama gets my vote. I completely understand if you are in the top 5% of earners, you would vote McCain. You've gotta do you. If I made over $250,000 per, I'd vote Mccain too. But I don't, and I don't care if he wants a "huge" tax increase on folks who do, because they could certainly give a crap if my taxes are higher. That's just how it goes. If my taxes were going up, damn straight I'd care if someone got more back that didn't even pay income taxes. Most people don't make $250,000 + per annum, so Obama should win. Sorry you don't like that. McCain also wants to tax my health insurance as income. So McCain sucks IMHO. Giveaways to oil companies and pharmaceuticals is "socialism" too. It's funny how the most ardent capitalists like it when there is no competition. Your arguments don't wash. I guess it's only "socialism" if it benefits the middle and lower classes. the fictitious "joe the plumber" would actually do better under Obama. Go figure. More tired right wing rhetoric. The GOP is on the way out.

I'm deeply concerned by the title of this thread. I wish I could discern what ANY of this means for the direction of our country or the policies BO publically endorses.

What do you think will ACTUALLY happen?* We're already LOSING two conventional wars (not counting the Wars on Drugs, Poverty, etc), our banks are already UNDER SOCIALIST CONTROL, unemployment's running rampant, nobody can afford to power their cars/homes, the world hates our guts and now BLAMES us for all their problems, and 72% of Americans dissaprove of our President's ability to do his job.

HOW MUCH WORSE COULD IT POSSIBLY GET?

Frankly, your causes for alarm don't give me ANY indication of worse things to come. So I'll restate: I'm deeply concerned by the title of this thread.

*Please topic starter: answer this question.

Ummm sorry but I have a good paying job with very good health insurance. I'm not hurting, but I do not make over $250,000 per year. What does income need to be to qualify as a "job" in Wacka land?

You actually believe that? Start preparing for a underground economy. Guard your wallet. Uncle Sam will becoming for a lot more when the Dems start pushing all they want to through. See Canada from when Pierre Trudeau got his cradle to grave policies under way. Taxed to death ever since.

It a thing called the internet. Look up the economy circa 1980. It was ancient history (before you were born). You probably thought the Bills teams of this decade were the worst of all time too. What are you, two years out of college?

Being in college myself, I don't understand why people make comments like that without understanding some important historical references. To claim that it can't possible get any worse is honestly the precise cop-out that many of the democrats hide behind to hoax you into getting them into office.

Theres little difference between "it can't get any worse," and "its the end of the US as we know it."

I'm not sure I'm following you. Are you saying that it's the end of the US as we know it and Obama will be your knight in shinning armour?

Well instead of explaining how the qualities of Barrack Obama (as detailed in the first post of this thread) would in actually culminate into the toppling of America as we know it (as suggested in the first post of this thread, and by the thread's title), you've instead decided to attack my credibility. Bravo.

Dante actually claim closest to addressing my actual point by informing me that the tax increases on just 5% of America would drain our country to death, but this you'd have to explain, because it sounds pretty idiotic to me.

Wacka (as is often the case on PPP) decided to address my age first, then boo-hoo about the financial situation of the 80's. Though the 80's ended when I was five, I am certain that the 80's- with few exceptions -were not analogous to the world we live in today. Believe it or not, I do have a firm grasp on the financial, political, military, and international climate of periods of time that occurred BEFORE I WAS BORN! With increases in communication and technology, and with post-Cold War resurgences of international economies (most notably China's), DON'T TELL ME THIS HAS ALL HAPPENED BEFORE!

And Murra- an extra special slow clap to you! Since your enrollment in college obviously qualifies you as a political and economic historian, I'd be interested to know which time period YOU'RE alluding to. I'd love to know when in, US History, we've had a financial situation (ON TOP OF THE SH*T HEAP THAT IS WORLD AFFAIRS IN 2008) so dire that it required nationalization of the GD banking system. Please, tell me.

Otherwise yes, I intentionally it sound like we're in a sh*t storm just to make Barrack look better.
