Doubt if there are any around with McCains ministers or they would be out there by now. What I would really like to hear are stories told by his old navy buddies about the early days in the Navy , and some of the shore leaves stories I.ll bet there was some heavy duty parties in keeping with Navy tradition of course

They can say all they want but here is a guy 23 years in the Navy 5 1/2 years in a prison camp and tortured., two marriages at least 5 children 26 years in the Senate and now at 72 he still has much stamina.

Yeh, my Dadstill grumbles about those hot headed fly boys back then. He served in the late 50s as a Navy frog man and explosives ordinance disposal. He still calls them arrogant rock heads, must have had a run-in I suppose. I am sure before the prison camp, there were some pretty good stories about McCain.

They were all that way to an extent back then. State Senator (VA) Toddy Puller used to tell stories about her husband Lou and Senator Bob Kerry (NE). Recovering back at Bethesda Naval Hospital, they harassed all the nurses, shot model airplanes out the windows and when that didn't get enough attention, they put lighter fluid on them and lit them on fire before sending them skyward.

P.S. Lou, the son of Chesty Puller, lost his legs in Vietnam. He wrote a Pullitzer prize winning book called Fortunate Son. After recovery as best he could from his wounds he obtained his law degree and was a Pentagon lawyer for years until his wounds and personal demons caught up with him and he took his own life. Sorry about the downer. He was an incredible guy, got to sit down with him a couple of times on his wife's first campaign. Also, his son Lou, Jr. looks just like the Marine photo of Chesty!

I must say in all my days which are many , I never thought this country would accept communism. The ones that would celebrate including the media are in for a rude awakening.

The choice is simple do you want more govt. (Obama) or do you want less govt.(McCain)

Dude... During the "golden age" of American growth post WWII (1950's-60's)... Taxes were higher...

Do you really wan to turn the clock back pre-1929? Well, that is the way you are headed with your choices.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Things are easy compared to other times in history... You don't know how hard it can be before it is too late.

[/quoteI guess I dont quite understand the direction you are headed. More govt or less?

I grew up on the 50's ,people were productive ,now all they do is B word and gimme what the next guy has , instead of getting off thier butts and working for it.

Funny enough... they do.

They don't want freedom, liberty, small gov't, and God (unless their God permits baby murder and homosexuality).

I didn't realize freedom and liberty went hand in hand with imposing religion upon citizens

If Obama wants to raise taxes on the richest Americans and give checks to people that don't pay taxes, it's called massive welfare and socialism. But if McCain wants to tax every citizen's employee health care coverage and give every citizen a $5000 check to offset expenses, it's a great plan for all Americans!

As usual, McCain and Palin and the Republicans don't actually listen to what someone says, then take a snippet, and twist it into something else. Then make a huge deal about it. The "spread the wealth" comment was about capitalism and the fluidity of the economy, NOT taking rich people's money and giving it to poor people.

THE ACTUAL QUOTE WAS: "If you've got a plumbing business, you're going to be better off if you've got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you. Right now, everybody's so pinched that business is bad for everybody. And I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." Meaning, when middle class and lower class people have money they spend it on things they need like plumbing, the people that get that money make more and in turn spend it, and the economy works. That is what he actually said. At that point they werent even talking about taxes, they were talking about business.

Not to mention that, of course, Obama's plan is not to raise taxes on the rich to unprecedented levels and turn the country into a socialist nation, but to RETURN the taxes on the wealthy to the percentage during the Clinton administration. You remember that, right? When the economy was good and we had a surplus?

well, yeah, but I think they really do listen to it, and then twist it around.

it's just funny that Obama is a socialist, but McCain can give checks to everyone and it's great.

And Palin's windfall tax on the oil companies in Alaska which she redistributed in $1000+ checks to every Alaskan citizen. We all remember that, right? It was one of her big selling points on being a reformer.

Just so you know scribo Pat Tillman would have voted for Obama.

Just so you know, you don't know who he would have supported. I know there are reports he opposed Bush's reelection, but Bush isn't running this year. Besides, I am not basing my vote on what anyone else thinks. You are , of course, free to continue speculating about what an American hero you never met would do, but I won't be part of that conversation.

The issue I am trying to highlight here is that Democrats on the whole did a terrible job of vetting their presidential candidate this year. Democrats have long been duped by smooth talkers who are better at rhetoric than at action. Honestly, I don't like Hillary, but she was a much more qualified and capable candidate.

Now, Democrats are refusing to acknowledge their blunder and are going to vote for the Democrat simply because he is a Democrat. The office of the President is way too important to fill in such a manner.

Anyone who really cares about our nation's future must reexamine the two candidates without considering which party they represent. Instead, look at each person for who they are, where they've been and where they are actually capable of going.

Have you considered that Obama has been vetted and maybe your Obama conspiracy theories and "associations" are all bullsh--?

Yes, I've considered that very carefully, and as I showed in the original post on this thread, it is clear that Obama indeed favors socialism and has associated himself with terrible people on a somewhat regular basis leading up to his journey to Washington.
