A Willis Trade

Who would be a suitable team that we could trade Willis to, for decent value, that we wouldn't have to face that often and it wouldn't give him the opportunity to come back and bite us in the arse all that often?

I would say the New York Giants. They are going to lose Tiki Barber and i think that they are a team where Willis could be the star that he has always thought he is. The publicity factor would be something that he would not want to pass up and i think that New York would love to have a big name like him in their back field.

We could also probably get a decent second round or third round pick based on their position in the draft and would not be asking them to give up too much. If anything, the New York media would help push this through because of how over hyped McGahee truly is. I can hear it now; Sports radio shows in New York saying "pull the trigger and get Willis McGahee here".

Just a thought, who do you think would be a suitable trade partner?

shut up already, it won't happen.

This is my first post on the matter, and it was meant to dicuss the possibility of a trade. Not to draw out all of those who continually wish to polish McGahee's ego while at the same time jerking him off at their keyboard.

You better believe that if someone makes an offer, Marv will pull the trigger. We have Antwain Smith on this team again. Can't even get 33 yards in a game? What a joke.

For the last time the New York Gaints have BRANDON JACOBS 6-4 265LBS he has a 4.4ypc and 9 td to tiki 5. Just watch the games or play fantasy football and you would know this

Brandon Jacobs is not an everydown back. Most giants fans are terribly aware of that. The giants probably know that as well. I wouldnt be suprised if they try to get Michael Turner another rb or draft one in free agency. Jacobs excells in short yardage situations but he is not a guy to handle the load.

If you were to watch football like you suggested i do, you would notice that a lot of teams are switching to a format of running back by committee, where they like to have a couple guys who can run the ball, not just one work horse who carries the load. You know, what we were supposed to have when we had both Willis McGahee and Travis Henry?

Willis sucks, thats the word around here

So who is going to want to give up anything for him

The previous posts coming up with Willis trade options say he sucks, but then think a team is going to give us a first day pick for him.

Willis is a "name" who has had a couple 1000 + yard seasons. The guys in the front office selling tickets would consider him just for that. Add to that the old "he played for Buffalo, he'll do better here" excuse, and it I can see us getting a 2nd round pick for McGahee. If he goes somewhere he wants to be and is motivated to play well, he might even be worth it.

Brian Westbrook isn't an everydown type back either. He shouldnt be a rb who gets the ball 25-30 carries a game. He's not a goalline back. Nor is he good in short yardage. He's a fine receiver and good between the 20's. Brandon Jacobs on the other hand is 6'4 almost 250lbs on the complete opposite spectrum. He's a one dimensional straight ahead runner who will take an absolute beating and wear down fast.

Personally I'm of the belief there are very few if any rbs who are everydown type guys. The best way to go about it is having 2 rb's with different skill sets so you can avoid paying out the big contracts and build up your line allowing for increased production. Teams like the pats/Saints/Bears/Giants/Cowboys etc all realize that it's a trend that will continue.

Emmitt Smith quiety laughs to himself as he is realizing that his all time rush record will never be broken with running back by committee trends.

Using your logic, the Chiefs should unload Larry Johnson. He only gained 32 yards with a 2.5 yard rushing average against the worst rushing defense in the league.

What a joke.

The chiefs should unload larry johnson he's coming off a 416 carry season his trade value will never be higher and he can probably expect a significant dropoff in production.

Hey, if McGahee sucks so bad why would you be concerned about facing him at all? You should actually try to trade him within the division so you could kick his a$$ twice a year. Or at least the AFC so you could have somewhat frequent meetings.

I disagree. Jacobs has the best feet I've seen on a big man since Jerome Bettis. He can be an everydown back in this league and I think the Giants intend to give him the opportunity to do just that.

Did you know he averaged 4.4 yrds/carry and 13.5yrds/catch this year? Those are not short yardage specialist numbers and his play on the field is even more suggestive of his all-around ability imo.

agreed. that said, having seen a lot of him, he has a hard time controlling his emotions and has some fumbling problems that'll be hard to correct given his running style (i.e., carrying three guys on him who are punching the ball).

Jacobs got less and less productive as the season wore on. While I agree he moves well for a man his size. What worries me is as the season wears on can he continually stay strong without wearing down due to his size.

7YPC in September. 4.3 in October. 3.9 in November and 3.5 in December is paticularly alarming. As far as his yard per catch. He had 11 receptions that's not a lot to go on. He showed some ability to run after the catch with 43 of his 149 yards coming on one reception. Albeit against dallas who has made even fullbacks look like all pro players. I'm sure he'll get a chance to prove he's the guy, but I still say they'll bring in another more versatile rb.
