I hated that call too, until i saw the replay and Palmer completely blowing his blocking assignment. That should have been an easy 1st down. I don’t see what Palmer provides to this team.

Take the ball out of Josh’s hands and instead relying on a block from Palmer.  Bad plan.  You have Josh ***** Allen as QB and that’s the best play in a high leverage situation.  Bills ***** up that drive, and gave Drake a chance to comeback.  Brady calls piss poor plays on 3rd and short consistently all year

He has been inconsistent this entire season, hasn’t developed a steady downfield passing game, doesn’t know how to scheme open his WRs. And he can be way too predictable sometimes.

But at the same time the Bills scored 28 unanswered points against the top team in the AFC. James Cook is a legitimate super star. And Allen statistically is having another MVP worthy season. The offense itself seems much more physical than previous seasons where it was more of a finesse offense under Daboll & Dorsey.

What do you think ? Obviously we need an entire season to really evaluate everything, but where do you stand at the moment?

I share your concerns for many of the same reasons.

Brady puts up a lot of points.  On the other hand, with Josh under center, we should have a better downfield passing game even with our current wideouts.

My solution would be to add a good passing game coordinator or consultant to the staff next year to help scheme a better passing game.  And give Brady better weapons for Josh, of course.

Brady is so predictable.  If Cook has a good run on first down, he always gets a call on second down.

Texans games he called the same stupid mesh plays he calls all year.  Mesh works ok in the right situation, but take a long time to develop.  When Texans are getting to Josh in under 2 seconds, throw the mesh plays out of the window, and draw up smarter plays like it’s your job.  Which it is, and you are obviously over your head

Just look at the names on those Raiders and Titans depth charts though.... sheeesh. I think you can argue Palmer would be the #1 on those teams. But the Bills receivers are terrible. A has been (Cooks), a complimentary slot receiver (Shakir), a career #4 (Palmer), a draft bust (Coleman) and a player cut by Jacksonville (Gabe).

I think that pretty much sums it up Gunner.  And don't forget Shavers, Samuel and Moore.  Samuel has been injured pretty much his entire tenure w the Bills.  And I don't think we have a clue how to use either Shavers or Moore.  Neither is very good by any metric.  But I think we have seen glimpses of Shavers making plays.  And he blocks well.  And Moore put up some solid numbers on two bad teams for 4 years before signing w us.

The WR situation is a big time cluster.  Hopefully it gets sorted out big time this offseason.  We need to bring in two studs to pair w Shakir.  And figure out the rest from there.

I mean they’re the top rushing team in the league and in the top 15 passing offense.  He’s doing that with the worst receiver room in the league.  So that’s all super impressive.  But at the same time- they are a bit too unimaginative in terms of self-scouting and changing their tendencies.  That third down screen to Johnson broke me.

That third down screen was a beauty play - but Palmer did NOT block his man. Palmer was a whif on that play. Otherwise it went for the first down and more. Watch it again. (The little things...)Was a good call. Execution sucked.

we are 10-4. Go Bills!

Oh I saw it at the time and was screaming at Palmer through the TV.  But you don't call that play with Palmer blocking.  And frankly you don't sit Gabe Davis in a game where you need blocking by the WRs.  Brady has direct input into that, and while Keon is a decent blocker (and blocked well yesterday), he can't get off press at all, which the Pats specialize in.  Keon should've sat yesterday, Gabe should've been active, and if you're gonna call that play you call it when Gabe or Gilliam or a TE is the one responsible for that block.

Our second last series where we went 3-and-out and punted with roughly 2:20 left in game.

I get that. Or Shavers. He can block!

Palmer looked like he didn't even try. For real. Ty was winding up to get a big gain! I liked the play call.

OK, no worries. He was for sure clear for the first but we will never know. We won! On to Brownsville.

There were like 3 defenders swarming to the ball to my eye on that play.

it was doomed from the start.

I know everyone hates the play but I think play over play, it has value. It’s also basically a running play.

Despite this, the Bills are top 5 in 3rd down percentage. And are #2 in the last 3 games.

That’s all on Josh.  Put Trubinski in and we would be bottom 5.  All credit to running game belongs to Cook and Kromer.  Kromer must be extended!  Sayanora Brady- take your simple minded schemes elsewhere

His situational play calling is what drives me nuts, 3rd and short in particular. It seems difficult for him to get into a rhythm early in a game.

It seems the only time he gets dialed in is when his back is against the wall and he has to turn Josh loose.

That should be our offensive!  He gets pad so much for a reason. It all should run through Josh!

It zero value in a high leverage situation.  That’s when you show off some of your best play designs
