Teams have all year to plan for the draft and near 2 months to gauge interest in trades once the draft position is finalized. Eh, first round is the money round and sometimes you want a little time to make some phone calls and check on handshake trade deals with teams depending on how the board falls after the first couple of picks come off the board. I think 5 minutes is too tight, especially in the first round where the moves you make are the most impactful, either good or bad. 1 Quote
Brand J Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Pretty sure at one point it was 15 mins in the first round and 10 in the second which was ridiculous. Quote
Saint Doug Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Considering every team has “draft boards”, the time they should have to select a pick should be about the same amount of time it takes to consummate a trade. I actually think the Bills do much, much better with their late round picks because they have less time to think they are outsmarting everyone else. Quote
Fleezoid Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Just do what Mel Kiper suggests. The 1st round would be done in less than an hour. 1 Quote

Just don't let Mel talk. 😁 Drop the teams to two minutes per selection, so when some horse's ass of an owner, coach, or GM rambles on too long about their team's great tradition and pride, they get the 'Family Feud' buzzer, and they go to the end of the round. * Quote

Agree, frankly I want the 1st round to last as long as possible, I enjoy the draft night. Plus, the time is not for teams to debate who they are taking (they have a board they already know!), it's to make trades. I'm fine with it even being 15 minutes. 1 Quote

Coincidentally, that's about the amount of time Spiller would spend running east, west, and south after he took the handoff. Net gain: -2 yards. 🙁 Quote
KingBoots8 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have a feeling this isn’t going to cut the event time down. Just more time for ad breaks and analysis. They’ll probably make a halftime show at the rate of viewership the draft draws in Quote
