1. John McClane goes to visit his wife (separated) for Christmas.

2. His wife Holly is with her company's Christmas party. 

3. It starts with Christmas music and end with Christmas music. 

4. And......

Also, The Long Kiss Goodnight. Geena Davis plays Mrs. Claus in it.

A no vote here, maybe because I get so dreamy eyed every time I watch it. Ain’t never been a better, grittier portrayal of the unsuspecting everyman hero character.

As I tell my wife, if Home Alone is a Christmas movie so is Die Hard.

Absolutely. Die Hard features several redemption arcs, a common theme in many Christmas movies. It was also among the first action films I can remember to use a holiday setting as a central plot device.

 

In my opinion, Die Hard feels more like a Christmas movie than Die Hard 2. I’ve always found the second film somewhat derivative.  For me, Die Hard with a Vengeance stands out as the strongest entry in the series.

Underrated action film 👍

I’d also cast a vote for the original Lethal Weapon … from an early scene in a Christmas tree lot, to the climax where Gary Busey has his final showdown with Riggs, there’s plenty of Christmas themes throughout, though not on the level of DH1

Die Hard 2 was such a disappointment but then they came back and totally redeemed themselves with Die Hard with a Vengeance
