Doesn't Slay want a shot at a ring? Apparently he'd rather pout. I think different players are motivated by different things I guess I don't find it particularly surprising that a 34yr vet w no prior relationship w the Bills might opt to retire instead of reporting 2 Quote
benderbender Posted Saturday at 07:51 PM Posted Saturday at 07:51 PM Any truth to the rumor that a team was going to claim Slay in response to the Eagles breaking the unwritten rule of claiming injured Willie Lampkin off of waivers from the Rams in August? Quote
skibum Posted Saturday at 08:44 PM Posted Saturday at 08:44 PM I just want him to get on the field, so that when he makes a play I can yell, "SLAYERRRR!!!" Quote

It is HIS RIGHT to want to play for someone or not want to play for someone. He KNEW another team COULD claim him and he made the choice to GAMBLE on getting through waivers and get a chance to sign back to Philly, or see another team claim him where he was more interested in retiring than starting over some where. All he did was ask Pitt for his release so he could SEE if he got through waivers. When he didn't, the interest just wasnt there to go play here. That is also his right to choose to play or retire when he learns where his rights end up. Rosenhaus tampered when he worked behind the scenes and had assurances from Philly that they would put in a claim. Yes, Slay can say what he wants, we just don't have to believe him. And what Slay said was laughably stupid. Why do you think Slay said such stupid things? Hint, he was caught by surprise by the turn of events and didn't have a script from Rosenhaus. 1 1 Quote

Geez how ironic... the Eagles claimed Willie Lampkin to block him from going to the Rams. This isn't a freaking Sunday night Yahtzee game. It's a high-stakes multi-billion dollar industry. Let the other teams play nice guy with "unwritten rules." AGAIN, if Beane doesn't block Philly from getting Slay and he intercepts Josh in 14 days, Beane gets CRUCIFIED by the same people who are criticizing him for violating some sort of "code of honor" that's counter to the actual rule. Jesus. 1 1 1 Quote

It's tampering when Rosenhaus talked with Philly to know that they would be putting in a claim and then asked for the release for Slay. Quote

Yet how did that work out? If you dont think this goes on every single day with every agent, player, and team then you should buy these magic beans I have for sale. Better than 🍄's You sound like some guy whose is butt hurt from asking some girl out in a bar who said no and now is out to convince everyone in the bar that she is a trashy slut Quote

Clearly it didn't work out the way Slay/Rosenhaus planned. And the Bills became collateral damage of the failed tampering of Slay/Rosenhaus/Philly. But tampering is not supposed to be done and now that most people (outside of the extremely naive) can see it, a penalty should be given. You sound like one of those kids that takes the short bus to school, unable to comprehend what happened. Then when it is spelled out for you, claim "oh, it's no big deal" or "happens every day" when everyone can see you still don't understand. Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Its strange we are still talking about this guy. Sad thing is he could have helped us yesterday Quote

He asked to be released hoping he would clear waivers and sign where ever he wants. Or if someone claimed him it would only by Philly. He took that chance KNOWING someone can claim him where he won’t want to play. Bills made the claim knowing he is 34, already had a ring, and doesn’t need money - meaning there is the risk he could just choose to retire. End of story. He doesn’t want to play here, get over it.
