  1. 1. What will Sean haters do if the Bills win the Super Bowl?

    • Happily eat crow. Many servings. Won't say another bad word about him. All I needed was one SB win in my lifetime. He can stay here forever.

    • Be just as happy as everyone else. But still hold the belief that his philosophy and decision making has prevented Josh from winning more rings.

this is such a false equivalency but it's in this thread so frankly unsurprising

last yr in our elimination game we averaged 5.5 yards/play and scored 29 on offense. our regular season averages were 6.0yards/play and 30 ppg. so maybe a bit underwhelming. our defense meanwhile allowed 5.5 yards/play to the Chiefs who had averaged 5.1 yards/play in the regular and 32 points when they had averaged 22.6 during the regular season

the yr prior in our elimination game the offense averaged 4.7ypp and scored 24. our regular season averages were 5.7 and 26.5, respectively. our defense somehow managed to allow an astronomical 7.7pards/play to the Chiefs offense who had averaged 5.5 in the regular season and gave up 27 points when the Chiefs had averaged 22.

If KC isn't in the playoffs does this change the equation?

I read the bills defense in PPG allowed and yds allowed is above average since the merger if you don't count KC in the McDermott/ Allen era

sure and if you don't count any of the games the defense would be perfect

I mean if KC isn't in the tournament I think it 100% matters.

Sean mcvay is the only equivalent to Reid imo

do you really? you think just tossing out the Chiefs results is some kind of valid argument?

how about we also toss games vs skylar thompson/mac jones/bo nix?

Trade him to the Giants.

But yeah, in all seriousness, if he somehow wins this whole thing, he gets that lifetime pass that a lot of fans have given him for ending the drought.

I'd still trade him to the Giants though.

Kincaid is not a wide receiver, that's excluded.

But you are right - I had forgotten the 3rd he traded for Cooper in season.

That puts him 31st. Just above the Buccs.

Of course you’re not going to count Kincaid because you want a stat that makes Beane look bad.

To see how useless this stat is we need look no further than it has the Bucs- with M Evans, C Godwin, and E Ebuka at the bottom.  When healthy probably one of the top three WR rooms in the league.

I agree with your overall point that the WR’s should be better and Beane needs to upgrade.  I think he will.  And I hope Beane doesn’t try and do it through the draft but instead FA (or a Diggs like combo) to get a proven commodity.

THIS year, the defense isn't good. It wasn't good last year either. But over his reign their have had top regular season defenses. It is simply not true to say he has never had top defenses.

Were most of those good years when Frazier was here?

For this thread and the poop skits one floating around, aren’t they just really pretty silly?

If this is an auto-correct typo that changed "apologists" to "poop skits" I'm gonna go change the title of that other thread to "McD Poop Skits..."

I cant agree with the premise of this qualifying as a top defense.  If you had a 'top defense' and the defense was the cause of your playoff exit (not the offense), then you never had a top defense.

Amplify this across multiple years - the defense being responsible for basically 80-100% of your exit's... then you have an even better sample size.

'It could be worse' is not the same as having a top defense.

Okay, he has had a top regular season defense. That the defense hasn't performed at the top level in our playoff exits is undeniable.

Kincaid is excluded because he is not a wide receiver. Not because I want to make Beane look bad. He is not a wide receiver. And the weakness on the Bills, the biggest weakness on the Bills is the receivers.... particularly deep and on the boundary... and so we don't make teams defend the entire field and they creep up and in and congest the middle of the field.

And isn't the Buccs exactly the point.... they are the ONLY team to have spent fewer day 1 and 2 draft resources on wide receiver in the EIGHT drafts that Brandon Beane has been the Bills GM...... but they ALREADY had Mike Evans (drafted in 2014) and Chris Godwin (drafted in 2017) on their roster. The Bills didn't have that. They had Diggs four of those years. Who is the next best receiver they have had in that eight year run? John Brown? Gabe Davis? Cole Beasley in the slot? All decent enough players in their own right but not reasons to deprioritise the position.

All of the top years were when Leslie Frazier was here, yep. He is the most underrated coach (by the fanbase) that has worked for the Bills during my fandom.

Have you looked at the starting QB’s we have faced in the wild card? These aren’t even playoff caliber teams. Meaningless. Mac Jones, Mason Rudolph, Skyler Thompson, Bo Nix….who cares how we did vs borderline playoff teams starting back ups in home games

I have my doubts he will upgrade the WR room much. At least not in a significant way. It's all due to focusing on culture and fit over talent. They seem very against talent if it comes with a diva attitude

I think he will.  Beane can feel the mood.  He has already distanced himself from the radio disaster by saying he was trying for Waddle - normally he doesn't talk about failed trade attempts.

I don't trust the drafting process for the next good WR.  I want him to get a proven vet.  And I hope he soesn't try and cheap out - the A Cooper over D Adams.  It is a little tricky now though because I don't think they want a 10 target prima donna.

Yep, Leslie had back-to-back #1 and #2 ranked D's and the fans were calling for his head.
