He stalled and went way left. It was almost a full hesitation . Allen still goes to his left every time and hesitates a little, which is dumb. He also stands too tall. These things need to be corrected. the bills also need to show a fake tush push play. Like the Bledsoe/mcgahee fake, or a jump pass, something, anything, to keep defenses honest. A WR flexed out to the wide side of the field, covered one on one, and able to get open on a slant would also be an option (if we had competent WRs) find a 2nd or 3rd and 1, where we are in a 4 down situation, and run the fake. If it fails, run the push. 2 Quote

The Bills ran the play 3 times, and it would have worked all three times, if not for a formation penalty on one of the attempts. I never understood why the Bills shied away from using the play this year, but I am glad they came to their senses and reintroduced it to the Offensive game plan. Thoughts?? No idea either...and anyone trying to bring up the "injury" issue is a non-starter since not a single injury happened during the play by any team running it in 2024. It's like they tried to get too cute for their own good and cost themselves in critical situations in 2 losses that didn't have to be losses without making brain-dead decisions in key situations. 1 Quote
boater Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I was just happy to see a tush push go to the left. Seems they all went to the right last year and defenses were anticipating that. Quote

JP51 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I was the KC game in the playoffs that called this into question... but geez, if Brady had any creativity he would have rolled Allen sent a TE something when they were obviously selling out for it... it doesnt have to be everytime.. but it is effective... Royale with Cheese Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago When the defense lines up tight, just toss it to Cook. Cook is too agile and quick to be stopped for a loss. He's going to get a few feet at least. Quote

Dumbest adjustment we made all off-season was convincing ourselves the Chiefs broke the Tush Push just cause they stopped it a few times in the playoffs (including one they didn’t technically “stop” in the first place) If anything, make a small adjustment to the most effective short yardage play you’ve ever had as opposed to removing it entirely we will never hear an answer but I’d be wildly curious about how it fell out of the playbook and was reintroduced. I can’t imagine that leaves/returns without McD at least involved in one of not both conversations Quote

I never understood why the Bills shied away from using the play this year, but I am glad they came to their senses and reintroduced it to the Offensive game plan. Thoughts?? Lets be clear - what the Bills are running is not the tush push. There happens to be someone pushing on Josh's tush, but that is the least significant part of the "tush push" and its main contribution to the play is in name only. The Eagles don't run anything remotely close to this less effective and bastardized version we run that literally contributed to us not making the SB last year. What the real secret to the "tush push" is begins and ends with the OL. They go straight to the ground and under the defense while a strong legged QB gets low right behind and goes straight up the gap on the snap. The low leverage by the OL is so effective that teams have even tried lining up a NT perpendicular to the LOS as a wall against it (and it still didn't work). What we do is a QB sneak where everyone stands up and blocks like any other play. Then Josh doesn't even hit the gap, he side steps into a different gap between the LT and Guard, and that delay is why it also doesn't work at nearly the same success rate along with the OL doesn't have the blocking leverage advantage like they do when they go low. All we run a highly predictable (always to the same spot) QB Sneak that is way easier to stop than what Philly runs and then we have some 180 pound RB also pushing Josh and calling it a "tush push". If you took away the pushing of the tush from Philly, they could still run the same play at almost the same absurd success rate, the pushing of the tush is the least significant part of it. And why do we run such a dumb version - most likely because Bills were highly vocal against it and wanted it banned. Which is dumb IMHO when you got Josh Allen to run it. Take the advantage and shut up about it. Our version is so bad that we have failed and then had to reattempt by having Josh literally put the ball in harms way by going over the top and extending it out over the DL where it can very easily get knocked away for a turnover. And that has already happened this year to another team attempting to go over the top recently. Why we are so stupid and stubborn in down and short when we should be at a near 100% conversion rate with Josh Allen is just absurd. Quote
