Functional defense

Receivers that catch the ball at a high percentage on a Regular basis

better play calling by the OC, combined with sharper execution by the players

just my humble opinion,  some say I don’t have a humble opinion…., 😁🍸🚬

The more things change the more they stay the same.  IMHO the 3 biggest areas of need are the same as they were in the off-season. 1) WR, 2) CB, 3) S

1) The WR group of Palmer, Coleman, Shakir, Moore, Samuel and Shavers aren’t get the job done.  They just aren’t creating separation and aren’t getting deep.  We need a legit deep threat to stretch the field and have no one on the roster that can do it.

2) CB - Benford is a given, but White is terrible and Hairston is just beginning to work his way back to the field and as a rookie has zero NFL experience.  We need a legit starter to play opposite of Benford sooner than later.

3) Safety - Bishop is improving, but Rapp should be a backup and Poyer isn’t the answer.  We need someone to pair with Bishop.

I doubt Beane is capable of filling all these needs at the deadline, but if this is the season to go all in, maybe he can fix two of the 3. My choices would be a WR and a CB.

WR x2, DB'S x3

 So would DE.

Hoecht becoming eligible not an upgrade? seems like he's a bit of a swiss army knife piece. e.g. Lorax 2.0

Safety, WR, CB & LB are all in need of major improvement.  I’m very disappointed, but not surprised that nothing has happened during our bye week.

Beane & McDermott are lacking a sense of urgency in changing anything, despite serious concerns from the fanbase & media.  Let’s hope they actually have a plan for improvement and some tricks up their sleeves.

Are Wilkerson and Cain still on the practice squad?  Obviously they are not studs.  But both are better than Keon right now.  Sit the boys ass down for a few games, so he can learn his craft.  He looks like he has no idea what he is doing on the field.  That the Bills drafted a guy as raw as Keon with so little separation skills early in the second round, when WR was such an important need at the time is mind numbing.

Who is our WR's coach anyways?  What is that guy even doing?

Adam Henry. Recently completed his doctorate degree in educational leadership from Fayetteville State University.

Good news is he has options if he gets canned.

Olave or Shaheed for WR.

If New Orleans wants a 1st rounder, just give it to them. Hopefully they go for a 2nd though.

No receiver upgrade coming out of the deadline s a fireable offense.

I'd give our 1st for olave, because its hopefully a late or god willing the last pick. And a talent that olave was coming into the draft would never make it to the end of the 1st. Its a gamble because his injury history. But the talent is clearly there and he hasn't had quality QB play yet. Josh Allen is 29, its time to do another diggs type of trade.

After last night’s game it looks like our most pressing need is boundary's WR followed by safety.

With Palmer hurt and Coleman being only marginal, we still have no one who can get open down the field.  It’s a big problem.  Maybe Davis helps some eventually, but we help now and long-term.  Maybe Shaheed or Olave are part of the solution.

At safety, Poyer is starting.  That should say it all.  Bishop is developing nicely, but with Rapp gone for the year, Hamlin on IR and the depth behind Poyer is a rookie Hancock and a journeyman in Franklin, there has to be some help out there.

I mean that was an elite OC/DC game we just had against KC. Can’t get any better.

I don’t think we can fix this roster though.  Unless we can get olave im not sure Shaheed is worth the draft capital, because the defensive injuries are much more significant in keeping this team out of the SB.

For the defense, I don’t know that there’s any thing more than replacement level starters you can get at this point. Jeffrey Simmons isn’t coming here. At safety I’d like to see what we got with Jordan Hancock otherwise I’d rather not trade for a safety, and would rather spend a day 2 or 1 pick on a guy.

Now I would trade for a nickel corner.

Said this in the post game thread, but this roster is flawed enough and unlucky enough with injuries that I’m just gonna enjoy what they can give us, and not worry about the SB.

Beane has gone through an overhaul of the offensive line, DLine and secondary while the plane is in the air.

They need to replace Joey Bosa, Matt Milano & Taron Johnson, and find a boxier safety to support Cole, and you have about 3-4 years of a core set up.

Offensively, I think you need two more WRs, unless Keon can show he can bust out of this sophomore slump, to push him down to the 4th WR. Palmer is fine as that 2nd option honestly. But we really need someone who can win routes everywhere. I just don’t know how you do that without a top 15 pick though or a really big cap investment
