I see an around the league thread but nothing specific listing out rooting interests for each matchup (mods, feel free to merge if needed).

Ok. Set me straight on any of the below:

  • Cinci/Pitt (Cinci won): struggled with this one. On one hand a Pittsburgh win would've created a bigger hole for Baltimore. On the other, a loss keeps them at pace with the Bills early on in the season for playoff seeding. That said, if Flacco can rip off a bunch of wins and turn it back to Burrow, I don't love that come playoff time (also, Cleveland has to be the dumbest team in North American Sports). Still not sure what to think after this one, but always enjoy seeing Rodgers lose (and look pissed off doing it to boot).
  • Rams/Jags: Rams
  • Saints/Bears: don't care (unless a NO loss leads to increased willingness to trade us a receiver)
  • Pats/Titans: Titans
  • Panthers/Jets: honestly, does it matter? But go Panthers.
  • Raiders/Chiefs: do I need to even say it?
  • Dolphins/Browns: again, does it really even matter? But go Browns (even though they are a criminally stupid and morally bankrupt organization)
  • Eagles/Vikes: I live in Philly so on one hand its good if the Birds win for my general quality of life. On the other hand, popcorn is ready to go if the Eagles drop 3 straight.
  • Giants/Broncos: Broncos actually - want to maintain as much pressure as possible on KC in that division
  • Colts/Chargers: see above. Would also be good for Indy to get a second L for playoff seeding
  • Packers/Cardinals: Pack I guess? But again, popcorn is ready if Green Bay manages to lose another winnable game
  • Commanders/Cowboys: screw Jerry and the horse he rode in on
  • Falcons/Niners: Niners because I'm spiteful and small man
  • Bucs/Lions: Lions
  • Texans/Seahawks: Seahawks. Although Houston doesn't appear to be a threat this year, enjoying Stroud's continued struggles after proclaiming himself a top 5 QB over Allen

Actually we should be rooting for the Jags as they hold a H2H tiebreaker with Chiefs and therefore they have a chance to keep them out of the playoffs.

Fair point. Unfortunately, I don't see Jacksonville Barbie leading them out of a 3 TD hole.

We want the Saints, Falcons, Jets, Dolphins & Bucs to win to improve our strength of schedule & victory, if we are concerned about tiebreakers. If we don't care about tiebreakers, who gives a ***** about any of these games, just win out.

Fair point. I wouldn't normally have considered strength of schedule this early, but the way the AFC seems to be pretty muddied up already with most contenders having 2-3 losses, SOS could turn out to be a huge factor come end of season.

Is it a board rule that we must have an irrational fear of the Bengals?

Yes. Burrow, Chase and Higgins and even Chase Brown would absolutely destroy our D unless something drastically improves (this seems unlikely).

Exhibit A: TNF vs. Pitt with Flacco in.

Yes. And that was exacerbated this week because everyone here watched them for the first time this year in the one game when they exploded offensively. As for me? I have an irrational HATRED of the Bengals ever since they drafted that cigar-chomping smug a-hole. This used to be a nice place to live. Now everyone walks around with those "better get those refunds" t-shirts.

To be honest, I wish Josh Allen had some of that swagger. Burrow's attitude, when presented with a tough stretch of games by the media, is "They Gotta Play Us," meaning "I don't care about them, we're the problem for them."  I like that better than "the next one is the most important one."

I don’t know if it’s fear as much as “give me a choice between playing the Jags or Colts or Texans or Patriots or Broncos or Chargers or Steelers vs. a healthy Bengals” in the playoffs and the Bengals would be my last choice. Ravens and Chiefs would be the other 2 on the list.

Definitely not rooting for the jags. This point of season and how things look it’s always NFC over AFC.

(written when the Jags are safely down 3 scores)

Hahaha oh this was no prediction or anything of that nature. Just catching up and noticing posts above hoping for jags win. Until bills secure playoffs or late in season it’s always NFC over AFC for rooting interest
