I watch a lot of college ball since I moved to the south a few years ago (college is king here; and I get it now), but I dont know well enough at all to even guesstimate.

 

IMO, if we made a change, Im not into a re-tread, and I'm not into an old and passed by guy for sure (Cowher, Gruden, no thanks).  Id swoop down into college ranks and pluck a guy from there!!  Its risky, but better to me than the safer boring route I already covered.

College football is pretty incredible!! Living in the south, you get the passion.

 

There are some names floated that I don’t think are realistic (Deion, BB, Ryan Day and Sark). Those guys either don’t appeal or have too high profile of a job already. I think Matt Campbell (Iowa State) is the likeliest to make the jump. Lincoln Riley (USC) would probably be the next option. Curt Cignetti (Indiana) feels like an option too.

Honestly, at this point I'd even take a chance with Belichick because:

 

1. He wouldn't be any worse than McD and he's an actual defensive-minded coach.

2. He has a gigantic chip on his shoulder and is desperate to prove he can win without Brady.

Some of those superbowls were won on the back of their defenses.   People seem to forget that.  How did Brady play when they beat the Rams?  Average.   

 

I don't get why people are defensive about McDermott.  If we keep him and never get a sb with Josh he should be hated.  He's a defensive coach whose defenses suck when it counts.  Oh the culture!  Bs.   It's all Josh.  We win despite Sean McDermott.

Agree. If he doesn’t make it this year it should be time. 
 

The only thing I’ve ever held against McD was the 13 seconds debacle. If that doesn’t turn it into a SB appearance then I’ll revert to people being right that he should have gone then with or without Frazier. 
 

Sad because he’s built a winning culture and a standard of expectations for a Lombardi. Sure Josh is a significant part of that but it’s like they say; it takes a village.

What if Harbaugh (Ravens) becomes available? He has been with the Ravens a long time. He has been a good coach in this league, but this year is looking like a disaster for them, even though injuries are a big part of it. I wonder if he and the organization part ways if they don't make the playoffs.

I want no part of retreads. I don’t care what they accomplished. He’s been a disaster. Just keep McDermott of your plan is BB, Gruden, Tomlin, Harbaugh, McCarthy, etc… If you move on, you move on to what’s next not what was 15 years ago. That’s like hiring Marv as the GM.

As OC? Sure, he could be dynamic with Josh. I don’t like him as HC but think he’d get a lot out of this offense despite his inability as a leader. He doesn’t need to be a leader here though. Josh does that. 
 

What I want in the next HC, fresh ideas and an attacking mentality. I want swagger. I want to try to blow teams out. I want to attack on defense. Blitz, jump routes, and just play down hill. You’ll get beat over the top from time to time but if you make a few plays so be it. Get a handful of stops a game and you’d never lose.
 

On offense I want the gas pedal down. Play with tempo. Throw it all over the yard and use the dynamic running game to complement it (not the other way around). I want them to go on 4th all the time (McD is pretty good about this). I want an offense that tries to score every play (and thinks that they will). I want them to be hard to play against like a team that plays full court press the whole game -60 minutes of hell.

 

I don’t need a conservative organizer. That’s already been established by McD. I want someone that will look across the field at Mahomes and Reid and think “keep up.” That’s just a totally different mentality than “let’s outlast them.” 
 

Curt Cignetti is a guy that has that arrogance and swagger I’m looking for. He’s older than I would want but that’s the mentality I’d be looking for.

Julian Edelman claims that Josh McDaniel's has McDermott's number.

 

I don't know how factual that is, but if McDermott does not at least take the Bills to the Superbowl this season he has to go IMO. Otherwise you run the risk of wasting Allen's career like Mike Tomlin did with Big Ben. Pittsburgh wont fire Tomlin either and look where it has got them.

Ben has won two Super Bowls. That doesn't sound like a wasted career to me. McDermott is making Allen this generation's version of Marino/Rivers.
