JP51 Posted Monday at 02:34 PM Posted Monday at 02:34 PM Ok who are your 3 up and down UP Cameron Johnson - Gutsy for this guy to come out in a knee brace and hold for the FG.. respect to him Cook - I hearby formally apologize for being torn about if we should sign him... I was wrong... this kid makes up for very average WR core and is a threat to break it at anytime.. can you imagine if we were a down field team with a deep threat what this kid might do Walker - he showed flashes in the prior 3 games... he seem to do that more consistently, fingers crossed... I could see how this kid with some experience could become a menace.. Down Rousseau - No more Groot for me until he shows up... he did make 1 tackle... but he seems all but invisible... I get bone bruise, I get setting the edge.. but for what we resigned him for we need way more... way more... he has always been streaky, but to be invisible especially on a Defense that has key injuries and is borderline really bad this guy needs to be a leader... I have not seen this to date Team Tackling - be better... do this against teams looking to make the playoffs it will be the difference in games... highly disappointing, prevents us from getting off the field in 3rd and long... If I am honest the defense in general seems unfocused and honestly lackadaisical ... there is no fired up thing LT "lets go out there like a bunch a crazed dogs" No leader getting frustrated or in peoples faces... concerning to me... hope we get better... but with Babich I really have little hope of that... Officiating - Is it me or literally did they seem like they had an agenda, I dont like to blame officiating but to me this game was a fail... maybe I am over reacting, but that is what I saw. 2 Quote

Officiating - Is it me or literally did they seem like they had an agenda, I dont like to blame officiating but to me this game was a fail... maybe I am over reacting, but that is what I saw. 1) I don't think any fans are satisfied with their favorite team's tackling. You just don't notice it on other teams. When we watch other games, offensive guys from both teams make plays. When we watch the Bills, any play by the other team is the result of missed tackles, bad scheme, and horrible coaching. Sometimes the other guys make plays too. All that being said, the Bills need to stop letting teams score on their first scripted drive. The difference between the Jets games and the last two games is that we let the inferior team score early, keeping them in the game. 2) You're not wrong on the officiating. A team with 38 rushing attempts, some of them QB scrambles after he held the ball forever, had 1 offensive holding call. They did have an agenda. What we saw was a bunch of refs keeping a weaker team in the game. Another point: The modern NFL rules dictate that the other team, no matter how bad, is probably going to score some points. It reminds me of when I used to be more active on Sabres forums. A player like Crosby would score an amazing goal, and the forum would spend all their time trying to find whch defender missed their assignment. Sometimes the other guys make plays. And the salary cap dictates that even really bad NFL teams have some star players. In 2012, the Lions had Calvin Johnson, who had almost 2,000 receiving yards, and Matthew Stafford, who had almost 5,000 passing yards. They went 4-12. All teams have stars 2 Quote

The YAC-meister DOWN Punt team -- Getting punters killed two weeks in a row Benford -- Where has he been on coverage? Walking Tall Posted Monday at 03:28 PM Posted Monday at 03:28 PM Up: Dalton Kincaid- just came up clutch and is emerging as a real weapon. Cole Bishop- very athletic and showing growth in a rapid manner. Jackson Hawes- again, showing strength as a run blocker and seems to make a crucial catch every game. Down- the invisible men, Greg Rousseau and Dawson Knox. A lot of money tied up with these two to not be receiving more impactful plays. Ryan Vandermark- get well soon, Spencer. Bobby Babich- if Joey Bosa isn’t able to keep containment, put AJ Epenesa out there more and save Bosa for absolute passing situations. 1 1 Quote
NewEra Posted Monday at 03:29 PM Posted Monday at 03:29 PM (edited) Up- Cook- tier 1 RB who’s now getting underpaid Bishop- slowly becoming more comfortable out there. I’m hoping that he will be a good starter come playoffs. Run Blocking- beast even without Brown Down- Rousseau- he made 2 nice plays, but still Dorian Williams- give me Shaq over Williams. Looked like he might be a player last year. Not so much this year. Pass blocking- missing Brown obviously hurt, but the saints DL gave us fits rushing the passer. Honorable mention- UP Keon- getting better and better at gearing down for dig routes. Had his man beat on the int. Great play by the S. He’s getting some separation. Shakir- business as usual. The yac king continues to show why he is just that Walker- still boom or bust on a play to play basis. When he Booms, it’s usually a big play. shaq- considering Milano and TB are both made of glass, I’m happy he’s a bill. He’s decisive Hawes- was a beast in the run game again. We should be throwing him 1-3 passes every game to keep Ds honest DOWN- Javon Solomon- I was a fan of him and thought he had a chance to become a contributor. I’m currently unsure why. Seems like the worst player on the field every time he’s out there. Should be cut and signed to PS when the others return. Landon Jackson- can’t beat out Javon Solomon for snaps. Mixed- Bosa- he looked tired out there and I think that hurt his run d yesterday. Hopefully we can limit his snaps soon. Still made some nice plays Tre- I thought the first hold was tricky tack nonsense and didn’t get a good look at the 2nd hold. Made a couple plays out there in the 2nd half. I’m looking forward to us having Max or Strong out there. Edited Monday at 03:36 PM by NewEra Quote

I did think about getting Bishop in there... Hawes again was a revelation, Kincaid excellent TD... wondering why Brady isnt game planning him more... I like the take on Vandermark and Rousseau, Babich to me is the Kevyn Adams of his job... 1 Quote

Also, open-field tackles are nearly impossible RBs and WRs are strong enough to run through solo arm tackles from the waist down. So yeah, that's the new NFL. 1 Quote

This is the way of McDermotts defense and has been for a long time. 1st drive, we play base, vanilla defense and then slowly adjust. But it leads to a gimme on the first drive alot of times (good teams and bad). It's frustrating watching it over and over each week, but in the long haul, it seems to work pretty often, too. 1 Quote

What i think we're seeing is the NFL shifting from being a traditional sports league to a form of entertainment that exists to satiate fantasy players and gamblers. It's unfortunate, but there is just a lot of stuff that is now normal that is not good for competitive integrity (international games, 17-game season where certain teams get an extra home game, etc). Yesterday was a good example of that. One of the most penalized teams in football getting 1/5th of their season average of penalties while the team tied for fewest penalties getting more than double their average really suggests that the crew was told to keep that game competitive, for whatever reason. I mean, they were ignoring obvious holds by New Orleans and calling multiple penalties on Buffalo's long-snapper. 2 Quote

Game planning wise, I really think the plan is to keep mixing it up so teams can’t focus on taking away certain aspects of our offense that we lean on. Kincaid, Shakir and Keon are the stars of the passing game, but by not leaning on them every game, it makes opposing dcs pick their poison. It’s hard to focus on stopping them when we can beat them in every other way. It can be frustrating, as it was yesterday watching Kincaid not get his first target until mid 4th qtr, but i think it can be effective long term with this roster. OT- Kincaid first target was frustrating. He had the db pinned on the inside and had a few yards to the sideline. There was absolutely room to get him the ball if the pass was thrown to the sideline. Considering he have so many big targets, I think we should put an emphasis on throwing to the sideline where the receiver can put his body between the defender into and the line. Josh just needs to put the ball there. 1 Quote
