Why not?

The reason why not is that you're right that he's historically played a lot of snaps, but also historically he's been injured a lot. There's a good chance that there is a relationship between those two facts. They want to limit his snaps this year. And it's a great idea.

Thurman has the logical answer. I'll also add he's older now. Look t Joey's brother in San Fran this year!

I noticed after Bills last field goal to go up by 2 scores with 22 seconds left, the Bills came on D with their top unit and Bosa played all 3 snaps and I cringed when Bosa made a diving tackling attempt. I guess the 13 seconds has a long lasting effect on McDermott and Babich. Or maybe they overheard Tyreek Hill telling Tua & teammates about his 13 second story.

Solomon needs way more snaps, and the saints game is perfect for it!

I don’t know how we can knock Solomon for lack of production when he only got 9 snaps (and I am guessing some of those plays were probably runs too).

I believe McDermott is breaking them in. The concentration was on the D Line. It’s like a horse race. Sprint to the first turn for positioning. Keep near the pace on the backstretch, and make your big move as soon as your horse answers the call. All out to the finish line.

Bills had this three week mini season scripted. The next chunk of the season culminates with the full bye week. Then a preseason game against Carolina, then Chiefs.. ending with the Thursday nighter Nov 20th against the Texans, a team that for whatever reason sorta has our number it feels like. Nice mini bye, and it’s Mack daddy go time with Steelers, Bengals, Pats. Eagles. Two byes because you’re resting starters week 18 and the wild card round. And you’re playing with your hair on fire for the last two games ever at Rich Stadium. Well maybe not McDermott. The hair.

And if they trip and fall, shoot em in the head.

I got a feeling Soloman may get dumped when Hoecht comes back from suspension and maybe re-added to PS.

I’m with you here but idk how they make the numbers work unless they find someone else to take Solomon’s reps on teams. He is covering kickoffs and punts, and Landon Jackson will not do that. So if this were to happen, they’ll either need to dress 5 DEs or someone else will be absorbing ST snaps and idk who that’d be

I'm curious why you think Landon Jackson won't play special teams?

you may be right, but I hope not.

one of the “good problems” with having a really good team is we end up losing late-round diamonds in the rough because they never get a chance to play and develop.

People are dying to pay big bucks to guys like Hendrickson and Crosby, who were developmental later round picks who only developed because they got to play. It took Hendrickson until his 4th year to really breakout.

He can still develop on the PS look at Shavers as a primary example.

The chance of him being picked up into an active roster is reasonably high though. He can contribute right away in playing ST.

Bosa's high snap counts are concerning but this team just doesn't have much at DE with Jackson not being able to contribute much just yet and Hoecht suspended. I think they do have to find a way to play Bosa less snaps even if it means AJE playing 10-15 moire snaps and Solomon playing 5-10 more snaps. AJE is a capable rotation player he should be pushing 50% of snaps at the moment. Solomon I get it he's a bit limited but he's got to soak in 25% or so of snaps.

Hopefully this "mini-bye" helps Bosa and Groot and they get Landon Jackson on the field after a few more weeks to practice and work on his game. Kind of concerned about Tre's snap counts too he's older with a big injury history. Overall they got away with one here hopefully this game is garbage time for the last quarter and the Bills just blowout the Saints like they did the Jets.

When we get Hoecht and Big Ed back, this DL could be really good

Why? Right now we have the second worst pressure rate in the NFL on base defense. Hard not to get better, but really good?

Yet our PFF D line rankings are:  Edge - Bosa 5th, Groot 18th [Of 116].  Interior DL - Ed has the NFL's top grade for the Baltimore game, Daquan is 4th [of 119]. If Oliver is anywhere near 100% when he comes back, we have a stud starting DL.

PFF rankings are for both run defense and pass defense. To be really good, don’t we need to be good at both? Plus we have played two 0-3 teams to get those rankings. I hope I am wrong, I want to believe that we will improve and get really good on defense, that’s why I want to hear some good things about the team D.

No way he clears. He will be snatched up.

Then whom do you propose we cut? AJE? As much hate as he gets he still shown to be a better pro than Soloman thus far in their careers.

Someone here said the Colts do not count because their opponents have a 1-8 record. Guess what, the Bills opponents so far is 1-8. After next week, people will point out the Bills are 4-0 because their opponents are 2-14.

I am not saying you are wrong. I would prefer cutting from another position group.

We will need them.   A team that can't stop the run cannot win the superbowl.  Our defense without Bosa right now is pretty blah.   I feel like Hairston will inject some pop into the backfield and Hoecht will be fun to watch his impact too.

Its my opinion that if Bosa isn't healthy we are looking at a Chiefs upset in our house. , even everyone seems to know his snap count is too high but Babich doesn't feel good keeping him out as much as he'd like.

I would never apologize for who we play, but is it not easier, or more likely to get better stats vs a 0-3 team than a 3-0 team? To me the line in the NFL between good and really good is slim. It just seems like defensively we struggle to get to really good on a consistent basis. I hope getting big Ed back and Heoct(sp?) back helps us get more consistent to hopefully the really good level.

I'd like Jackson to get a jersey instead of Solomon these next few weeks. Let's see what he can do with those snaps.

I think they're asking him to earn it more than anything else.  Solomon has the 3rd highest ST snap count on the team FWIW.
