There were many outstanding plays down the stretch in Q4 that lead to victory, but let's not forget the fact the Bills got the ball back with just 25 seconds on the clock. Josh makes two great passes to get them in position to kick the FG with 1 second on the clock. 

 

We clearly don't win without those 3 points.

And the only reason they had those :30 to work with was McDermotts aggressive use of timeouts when the Ravens still had the ball on the previous possession. I don't think most coaches would have had the stones to do that on first and second down outside the 10 yrd line with nearly 2:00 left in the half.

I said the same thing post game but they more i think- is there any doubt we wouldn't have gotten a TD on that final drive? 

You can argue Baltimore would've played different w and 18 point vs a 15 point lead but if everything worked out the same,  we still win but nonetheless that was huge at the time

Or they go for the TD at the end instead of sitting on the ball and kicking

Glenn messed this same situation up for the Jets. Could have had 40 seconds more in the first half he had been more aggressive

Bush league tactic by Ravens to leave the field before actual confirmation that time expired had happened.

Yeah, as they were heading in for halftime I was thinking that was pretty big for them to get there there. Kept them in the game and they were able to go into halftime on a bit of a higher note.

 

On another note, I thought it was over after the missed two point try (the one where Keon got mugged) and I thought, how poetic, the scriptwriters got into their bag for this one, the Ravens will win their revenge game the same way they lost the divisional game, a dropped two point try. But it was not to be. Old Man Prater to the rescue. 

 

Genuinely one of the greatest regular season games I've ever had the privilege of watching.

It was a great drive to get the FG in the first half,  but they may still have won without it.  If the rest of the game had played out the same,  they would have had four shots at the end zone from inside the 10 on the final drive.

I don't think McDermott before 2023 would either.   He's really evolved as a head coach and trusts his players more than ever.

McD obv watched some youtube videos about clock management this offseason

If no end of 1st half FG, they almost certainly would have left more time on the clock for Bal, if we go ahead and assume they get the TD there-(can't sit on the ball in that situation).   Who knows if our D would've been able to come up with another stop? So yes, great clock management and execution by our ST (with a new coach-hopefully a harbinger of more good things to come from ST/ (except for almost getting blocked!, execution of game ending FG was almost perfect as well)) was really important there).  (Sorry for all of the parenthetical clauses.)

A weaker arm doesn't put enough velocity on the ball to leave time on the clock. Literal split-second later and the Bills lose those 3 points.
