I was waived/injured once.

Sorry. Actually just injured. My memory just ain’t what it used to be.

Honestly, that is too bad for Prather. He had a slightly better chance than most of us to make that team, so maybe a chance to latch on somewhere else is good for him.

Given that he's not reported as injured, I'd guess that one target, zero catches last night and his NFL dream slipping away (at least this year) is the reason for the tears.

He was waived/injured.  So it seems pretty likely he got injured and knew he was likely to be waived/injured.  He'll likely go unclaimed and be brought back on IR, possibly get an injury settlement, but it's a huge barrier to him making a team this year

Saw that as well. I was confused

Me too.

I was more confused than the wind at the new stadium.

I get feeling depressed. But one would think a seventh round pick would manage his expectations.

There was a group of fans behind the bench hating on him because he was drafted instead of Shaun Dolac.

It got to be too much.

That’s pretty lame to heckle a seventh round draft pick.

I was just kidding.

Agreed.  Heckle Beane!  Although usually the executive types have jackbooted security officers around them.

Tough break for the kid. If he is on the injured reserve list he must have cleared waivers, which makes sense. So he should go back on the team’s injured/reserve list. He cannot be designated to return to the roster this year but he would be eligible for the Bill’s practice squad once healthy and removed from the list. Or they may agree to a settlement and cut bait. He would then become an UFA.

If they decide to keep him, the only change to his situation  is that he cannot be promoted to the active roster this year, say late in the season in the event of injury to starters. He was almost certainly headed to the PS anyway. Some observers said pre-draft that he should not have declared since he had another year of eligibility. The thinking was that he would have been better served to access the transfer portal again and join a more prominent college program than Maryland’s.

It’s a shame. The kid has traits.

He was probably crying like the rest of us at the horrible lack of depth on this team

Insane take.  We are one of the deeper teams in the NFL.  Can our FULL 2nd team, compete with another's #1 team (young, talented team, led by one of the hottest coordinators turned HC, in Ben Johnson) ?  No they can't.  All reports were we beat dat ass in joint practice, and we were not going to that pre-season game to put a single thing on tape.  BJ & the Bears, were in the opposite position.

Am I ecstatic about that game? No.  There are concerns, as all teams have.  A pre-season game, at the end of a tough few days of joint practices, does not mean we lack depth.

This is a pure doomer post trolling at worst, or insanely naive at best.

This was his entire life leading up to this point. 7th round picks work just as hard as 1st rounders, some even harder. He’s gotta gut it out on the practice squad

I'm sure it's disappointing, but the dream isn't over for the kid.  If the Bills liked him enough to draft him, there's a decent chance he might get a chance on the PS next season.
