Toledo Bill Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Spencer Brown brought some long-lacking toughness to our team. Josh Allen certainly brings it. McD's teams, though tend to be outmuscled by tougher teams. Last night (I know it was preseason!) was just another example of a lack of toughness and heart. I continue to wait for a "smack in the mouth" performance and wonder. Again... preseason... second and third string... but the killer attitude (especially for players trying to make the roster) really seems to be lacking. I am not overreacting to a meaningless preseason game but have always questioned if our leadership can get the most out of the players. 2 4 1 3 Quote
Gregg Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Week one will be a great test. The Ravens are about as physical a football team as there is in the league. 4 7 1 Quote

zow2 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 McDermott gets a lot of motivational mileage out of losses like this. Being a preseason game is very good, as opposed to a regular season drubbing. Some people here blow off this loss as meaningless preseason nonsense. But McDermott is seething mad and disappointed in some aspects of his team. He was holding back in his presser after the game but you could feel it. 3 Quote
dorquemada Posted August 18 Posted August 18 His defenses have always lacked the killer instinct, and can't seem to make the big plays in the biggest games. Being bailed out constantly by the Offense has become the hallmark of the McD defense. Agreed that the Baltimore game is going to tell us a great deal about the season. 1 3 1 1 Quote

Nailed it - I can't believe they only forced 3 turnovers against the Ravens in the Divisional Rounds. Including two by Lamar Jackson who only had 9 the entire regular season! 1 3 1 2 Quote

Walking Tall Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I have no idea how we will bounce back from that 5-12 season we had last season. 1 4 Quote

Whatever fits your narrative, I guess. 3 1 Quote

Doc Brown Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Love preseason panic. It's mostly the same team we had last year. We out physicalled the most physical team in the NFL in the playoffs last year despite having less talent. It was BACK UPS. I obviously wish they showed more fight and I'm sure we'll see a different sense of urgency next week. Keep in mind though we lost to this team 33-6 last year. In fact, we've had more double digit losses in the preseason games the last four years than the regular season/playoffs. Relax. 2 1 Quote

Making a wild card isn't that difficult, it just eluded us for 17 years. They aren't a good team. Quote
