Does unspent cap accrue to following years?  I think GMKA is planning to go berserk when McDavid is a free agent in 2033.

It accrues to Terry Pegula's yacht. Otherwise, no.

Not to my knowledge. I just hope he doesn't get in front of the cameras and say, "Well, we wanted to make trades and sign FAs, but it takes two to tango." It's time to get a GM that can make things happen.

They cant sign anyone.  The organization is viewed as a toxic and perpetual failure.  It is impossible to argue otherwise.

This is way deeper and darker than the Bills' drought ever was.

This reminds me of my Isles in the 90's when they had those stupid looking fishstick jerseys. They sucked as they were out of the playoff race before Thanksgiving every year. Nobody was going to their games as many nights they had crowds of around 5K. When the Rangers came to the Coliseum the crowd was 80-20 favoring the Rangers. The Isles were a minor league clown show. While the Isles are not an elite level team today, they at least got back to being competitive. The Sabres can do the same, but they need the right leadership. Terry definitely isn't the answer. If I were Terry I would look at teams like Florida, Tampa, Colorado, Vegas, Dallas, Carolina as examples and hire the next GM from there. All of those teams are competitive and are considered top teams in the league.

They actually did a lot...on defense. Kind of like the Bills did. If you can't get more scoring, you get better at not giving up goals.

They got better at Defense, because we traded JJ.  We still have a hole in our top 6.  We got tougher, thankfully.

Yeah, we'll see. Toughness is a team mentality sort of thing. You don't have tough players, you have a tough team. Either the guys who want to play that way will drag the shrinking violets into it or they will become violets themselves as they realize that the other sacks of crap don't have their backs or give half a darn. This team is a gutless sack of crap until well proven otherwise.

The hole is not at large as you think it is. But I'm not surprised that everyone has their panties in a wad. It's all you see and hear in the media.

Going by 2024 numbers, Buffalo scored 269 goals which puts them 9th in league scoring. JJ scored 27 of those goals.

If Buffalo gets 13 goals from all the new players added, that includes Norris, in 2025, they with have 257 goals, which would rank at #12 last year. That isn't a big drop.

But now what is all the defensive improvements lower your goals against by 20 goals? Your +/- actually improves.

If they get more than 50 games out of Norris I'll be surprised and it remains to be seen if the new defenders are actually better or just different.

Right now we have Hughes and Benson in our top 6.  I like both, but not sure either belongs in top 6.  Counting on a full season from Norris is asking a lot.  Tage, Tuch, Kulich, belong in top 6, they could use upgrades at linemates

Putting a ton of faith in kesselring?

And if you add Norris, you have to factor in losing cozens as well, but that isn't how hockey works.  You cant just add and subtract aggregate goals.  If that were the case, the rangers would have won most cups between 1996 and 2004.

If kesselring can make power look like a 1oa pick, we are in business.  If Norris can stay healthy and be a #1 center.  If their special teams can improve under that SUNY coach in waiting they are grooming.  Goaltending needs to come from somewhere.

I have little faith these guys can figure it out.  Its been sooooo long with so many of them.  I cant assume kesselring will look any better than what they have had.  Connor Clifton was supposed to stabilize the D and also "be hard to play against".

Other than Levi making the nhl club and becoming a vezina finalist, I don't see any way the Sabres can finish better than 6th in the division.
