We need a GM and coach combo like we have at the Bills. Change the losing “culture”. They should bring in Lou Lamoriello as President. He knows the league as far as hiring GM's and HCs. He did get the Isles turned around from the Garth Snow days. He hired Barry Trotz and the team went to back-to-back ECF's. They just got beat by a better Lightning team. I don't think he should be the GM anymore and handle the day-to-day duties but as President he can bring in the right people for the FO. He certainly knows more about hockey than Terry. Lou is a hockey man. Terry thinks he is a hockey man. Big difference. 1 1 Quote

Brendan Shanahan was willing to come here as team president if he had autonomy. I’d rather go down that route than hire Lou but I don’t think that’s an option either for similar reasons. I don’t think Terry wants a team president at all. Maybe at some point he becomes desperate enough to try it but I’m not sure if/when that day will come. Quote

As much as it was heralded that he was a Sabres fan back in the day, and the thought was he was going to pour his heart and soul into the team was just bunk. I feel he is an NFL owner first and a NHL owner way after that. Quote

May Day 10 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Pegula just wants to get his kicks being president of the sabres. He bought them because he was a bored rich guy. Not a fan He will not cede control until he is dead. He is too stubborn and selfish. He stopped engaging the fans many years ago and won't even be seen there. Doesn't care as long as he gets to play with his toy. His family will sell the sabres when he dies. They will be worth $1 billion right now to an out of town interest. No binding lease, no building. T&C Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/rasmus-dahlin-forced-to-step-away-due-to-serious-medical-issue Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin has been through a horrific ordeal over the course of the past several months, with that ordeal now culminating in the Sabres captain taking a leave of absence from his team. On Friday, the Sabres officially announced that Dahlin would be stepping away from the team to be with fiancee Carolina Matovac as she continues to recover from a shocking medical issue that nearly claimed her life earlier this summer. Back in September Dahlin informed the world that Matovac had suffered a massive heart failure while the pair were enjoying time off during the summer month., The experience was no doubt an incredibly traumatic one for Dahlin who saw receive his fiancee receive CPR, sometimes for hours at a time, just to keep her alive and on life support for weeks before she received a life saving transplant. That Dahlin would want to be close to his loved one at such a difficult time makes all the sense in the world, with Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff expressing his admiration for how well Dahlin has handled the incredible hardships that have come his way as of late. "Rasmus will be taking a temporary leave of absence to deal with a personal matter back in Sweden," said Ruff on Friday. "I will say this, he said everything is ok, and through this he's got full support by our team." 1 Quote

He’d be the best coach the Sabres have had in a long time. It would definitely be a dream hire for me at this moment in time. I wouldn’t call Shanahan or Jarmo “dream hires”, but of the available current options they both seem like the best we could do. Jarmo is already in the organization so Pegula may have some comfort there. Shanahan has reportedly even let the Sabres know he’d be interested in a team president job. I read that DeBoer would be open to Buffalo as well and that he’s dying to get back behind a bench. It would definitely bring instant credibility to the organization. Unfortunately, I don’t see it as very likely. I could maybe see Jarmo getting the GM job but I don’t see Pegula hiring a team president and I don’t see him paying the money it would take to hire DeBoer. Quote
