He is a mini camp invite like Buffalo Joe was last year He threw at the UB pro day and met with the Bills there. I could see him competing with Buechele for the PS spot. He is attending Packers mini camp now and apparently doing quite well, so who knows if they sign him before our mini camp even begins. 2 Quote
boyst Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago What's the exchange rate on the Heisman vs Hec Crighton? Is it more than Canadian dollar vs freedom dollar? 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago In terms of traits, it looks like Elgersma beats out Buechele. Buechele has more familiarity with Buffalo's system and some preseason experience, but Elger would not be expected to step in and play in the regular season for a few years at least, so that's not really an issue. If Trubisky or White had to step in and start more than a few games this season, it would sink the team's playoff chances to say nothing of either Buechele or Elgersma. Quote

Well first he would need to be signed to a UDFA contract. We didn't sign him, he's just coming in for a tryout during Mini-Camp. And we're not the only one's trying him out or even his first tryout. He was just in the Packers Rookie mini-camp. There's a chance they could sign him before we even have a chance to look at him. If the Packers don't sign him and we like what we see and we sign him, he'd need to beat out Shane Buechele. And we'd probably need to have cut Mitch Trubisky and be rolling with Mike White as our Backup. Or else he'll need to beat Shane Buechele *and* Mike White - as it's pretty likely that if Trubisky's here, Mike White would be the favorite to be our PS QB, unless he left for a better opportunity elsewhere. It's also likely that they'd have to have liked him enough right from Mini-Camp to outright cut Buechele, as it's unlikely they'd bring 5 QB's to camp. And after all that, he'd have to prefer to be an NFL Practice Squad QB over a potential CFL starter. As he was just Drafted with a Top 20 Pick in the CFL Draft. Long story short, it's probably unlikely (though not impossible) and a long list of "if's" for that to happen; - If the Packers don't sign him - If we sign him from Mini-Camp - If Trubisky is cut or White leaves - If he beats Buechele - If he passes on the CFL for a PS spot Edited 4 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 Quote

Buffalo716 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think it's pretty insane that somebody is comparing him to Baker Mayfield and Ryan Fitzpatrick One a former first overall pick, Heisman winner and good quarterback... The second a 17-year NFL veteran.. who has over 30,000 passing yards and 200 touchdowns This guy got drafted in the second round of the CFL... If he was Baker Mayfield he would have been the first pick overall A lot of his deep balls were blown coverage too , NFL tight coverage downfield will definitely be a wakeup call Quote

If he were a Mayfield like prospect, he'd not only be Drafted 1st in the CFL Draft - he'd have been Drafted in the first in the NFL Draft. I will say though, a 2nd Round Pick in the CFL Draft isn't like being Drafted in the 2nd in the NFL. There's only 9 teams in the CFL. You have to get beyond the halfway point of Round 4 in the CFL before you eclipse Pick 32. Quote

Absolutely I agree.. second round pick in the CFL is still great for that kid But if he was Baker Mayfield talent level I don't think he would make it past the first overall pick in the CFL as you said 1 Quote

The Cincinnati Kid Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Why do we want him? Potential? He isn’t getting playing time in Buffalo. By the time Josh retires this guy will be in his 30s. I just don’t see the point… Thread has Drought Vibes, sorry OP. It just does. 1 Quote

No one is expecting this guy to even make the 53 (the title says practice squad). The drought era vibes would be if fans thought this guy was gonna come in an save the franchise. Quote
Dave_Bills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He’s a great story. Rare that a “prospect” played 15 minutes from me Quote
