If the QB gets the ball out in 2 seconds the DL is almost irrelevant, you can’t get to him that fast. The DB’s need to be able to take away those quick hitters instead of giving them an 8-10 yard cushion. THAT is a problem for us. Notice how Hairston is known for his quick burst on the ball. It’s not one or the other, you need pressure and coverage. 2 Quote

They both put tremendous pass rush pressure on Mahomes by rushing only 4 guys. Hopefully the offseason moves by Beane will pay off. Yep. And Beane double dipped at DE the following draft. I liked the strategy, but I definitely wasn't feeling the Basham pick. I was all for a defense heavy draft this year. I actually love it. 1 Quote

Turk71 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago The defense is the problem so the Bills focused on the D this draft. The problem with that is the Bills have been mostly focused on the defense in the draft and free agency every year McBeane have been here.... and it's still the problem. 1 Quote
colin Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I think the margin is super slim, but sadly we've just been on the (barely) short side of it. Basham, Elam, and AJ were top 50-60 picks that were total busts or at best barley ok, and we gave a monster contract to von who hasn't been an even above average player for us in a single playoff game, and gave big extensions to Milano, Knox, and diggs who got hurt or just fell off and become malcontents. That's 7 players who were expected to start and play well, 5 on d, who just didn't perform. Milano came back but is no longer at his all pro level, and last year we had Elam, a washed Douglas (is he in a team now?), TJ on his worst form, raw bishop and flipping clone (I forget his name) at safety. We need this draft (and our top 3 picks from last draft who have basically sucked so far) to ball out and look like the KC 2022 draft for us. The rest of the team is in place Quote
Billzgobowlin Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think part of that is the flow of the game. Chiefs against us is probably pretty similar. Defense needs to be there when we need it and it hasn't been. I find it interesting that as soon as a defensive player leaves us they don't excel anywhere else, that should play into the lack of depth and quality. I am interested to see how much our line improves because of this draft. Quote

It would be hard for the Bills not to be at least minimally improved on the D-line if you look at the 2 free agent signings and the 3 draftees. Also going from weakness to strength is CB where the Bills signed Dane and Tre and drafted 3 solid prospects. On the other hand they minimally addressed Safety and totally ignored LB. Still, I expect the Bills D to be substantially improved in 2025. Quote
BringBackFlutie Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago I mean, just thinking about it without looking at statistics? In 4 playoff games against the Chiefs we have basically only stopped them an average of twice per game, usually in the 3rd and 4th quarters to act like we're "giving our O a chance to win it for us." Also the first playoff game against them we opened up with a stop and I don't think we stopped them again. ...oh and I dunno about Philly. I don’t watch garbage television. Sounds right tho considering the score. Quote
