Then on to the Wonderful World of Disney amd Mutual of Omaha's Wlld Kingdo...then Sunday nite Sabre home games with Gil and the French Connection...over and over...year after year... Can’t mention Curt Gowdy calling those games without also mentioning Al DeRogatis as his color man.
Beast
Though I have no proof, I always felt Michael Conrad wore 00 in the original Longest Yard in honor of Otto.

I just watched a game from early in the ‘88 season when they called these two out of retirement. A bunch of the regular announcers were covering the Olympics in Seoul and NBC had a patchwork lineup for several weeks

His trademark 2 bar face mask with the bull ring over his nose and his ‘double ott’ number couldn’t be missed or mistaken. RIP Jim. Thank you for the memories! Dan Patrick said it best , he looked like a football player. He said the Otto never missed a game but had 20 concussions, unreal.
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
I remember LeCharles Bentley asking Otto if he'd allow him to wear his 00, since the NFL had retired the number when Otto retired. It didn't go so well for LeCharles... IIRC Otto was blazing pissed about some scrub asking for his number
