I hereby award you another TIBERIUS for this gem. Kudos!

Yeah, the F16’s or whatever jet was used probably just pricked it with a pin. Good thinking!!

They’re not as far behind us as Russia, of course, but as someone who loves his country I can happily say we have the finest military this planet has ever seen.

Oh, it's a big deal.  The Admin has admitted it believes it was a spy balloon and as a result shot it down.  Again that it got as far as it did is the biggest issue and points to extreme incompetence.

It’s a big deal to basement dwelling MAGA types still seething over the low unemployment numbers.

The leaders reviewed the threat profile of the Chinese stratospheric balloon and possible response options, and ultimately decided not to recommend taking it out kinetically, because of the risk to safety and security of people on the ground from the possible debris field. Pentagon leaders presented the options to President Joe Biden on Wednesday.

“Currently we assess that this balloon has limited additive value from an intelligence collection perspective over and above what the PRC can do through other means,” the senior defense official said. “Nevertheless we are taking all necessary steps to protect against foreign intelligence collection of sensitive information.” The official said the balloon does not pose a threat to civil aviation because of its altitude.

The military and executive branch assessed that the threat to civilian life was greater than the diplomatic and security benefits of shooting it down.

CHINESE SPY BALLOON, SHOT DOWN.

“Joe Biden did the right thing. After pretty much running through all of the options first, of course.

After spending the last 48 hours or so stonewalling and then dithering over what clearly appears to be a spy ballon from China, Biden ordered a strike on the craft — after it had completely transversed the US.”

Except the Pentagon said he wanted to shoot it down Wednesday and military officials said no.

Yeah I would much rather have a President that launches a ballistic missile if his Diet Coke is late.

I didn’t think there could be anyone of simpler mind than Tiberius. I was horribly wrong.

Let’s imagine that China, having shown the US to be unwilling to protect its airspace, now decides to send a jet every now and then. Shall the US let them? Why or why not?

Jets = threat

Balloons = no threat

They tried to get him to make a decision but the stutter wouldn't let him get it out...

The Pentagon told him no, they could not shoot it down on Wednesday.

Come on.

A combatant would be engaged immediately.

Anyway, I think the thing should have been shot down as soon as it entered US airspace, unless there was some intel benefit to watching it, and tapping its upload for whatever data it was transmitting.

In addition, doing the "kinetic" kill not only means the balloon and its payload, but also the remnants of a very small missile, or bullets or whatever else was used to puncture it.

All that aside, this thing flew over areas that a small plane could fly over at a couple thousand feet.

Not exactly a threat to security.

That is what happened, congratulations.

Now realize that President Biden is their commander,

so any delay is still on his shoulders.

That's how it works.

Who gains more benefit from the intel side?  If China decides to take another stab at the balloon run, maybe multiple balloons, what should the US do? Shoot them down as you suggest? Why then, but not now?

And he has quite a record in foreign matters if you listen to this Obama cabinet member. Great job! America has never looked stronger!
