With this current era of Bills football can we finally lay the 90s Era to Rest? Are you ok with it?

That’s what I was going to say…. Why?

that’s apart of the Bills….

Though I honestly think this team has a more solid 22 and a deeper roster as well. Much deeper.

Do a man for man comparison man for man and it’s the new team that wins…

Especially in the weapons department…. Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed…. We had a good backup RB then too but that’s where the talent really ends…. Of course, the new team happens to be almost completely injured right now…. 😭

Dude, Cornelius Bennett, James Lofton, Don Beebe, Kelso and Jones, Darryl Talley, Metzelaars. All better than their current counterparts.

Cart before the horse? If you think having a team that has been just pretty good for 2-3 years can be discussed in the same breath as a dynasty of 4 straight AFC championships then I don't know what to tell you. This current team doesn't hold a candle to those teams. If it all ended today and Poyer and then the next guy and next guy all wanted more $ and left and we never even made a super bowl I don't think anyone would ever remember we were good for a couple of seasons in the early 2020's and we would just be the same old Bills. Let's win something first and then we can talk

The current team hasn't done a thing by comparison.........and the current roster doesn't stack up against the rest of the league like those early 90's teams did.    It can't.   Free agency has made it impossible to build and maintain dynastic rosters.

But I'm not sure that fans have been clinging to those 90's teams as much as you think they have..........a lot of the nostalgia/merchandise you are seeing is basically just the fact that for marketing purposes the 2020's are going to be all about 90's nostalgia.......just like the 2010's were about 80's nostalgia and the 1980's were about 50's nostalgia etc..    It's just coinciding with the fact that the team is competitive again.    Also interesting to note that in the early 1990's the country was going to war and going thru a terrible recession and now the country has gone thru a pandemic and is struggling economically once again.

The variety of retrospective threads during our uncommon experience (relatively) of rooting for a true contender can all, probably, be summed up by the same answer: We need to win a Lombardi. Nothing else will do.

Once again I'm not saying this team is on that level of the Super Bowl teams.  Those are still my all-time favorite years in Bills history by far.  My point is after that era being a Bills fan we were pretty much just stuck living in that era and celebrating those teams for the next two decades because we had nothing else.  I feel like now that we have turned the corner and become a perennial playoff team who has made an AFC championship game, has a franchise QB, favorites to win the SB that we will no longer have to resort to 90s Nostalgia to feel good about being a Bills fan.  I just think a new era is underway and we no longer have to live in the past.  Even if this current group doesn't win a Super Bowl either I'm not sure if fans will return to that state of "living in the past" with the 90s team again.  Part of it is just time moves on and it's hard to keep celebrating the same thing over and over 30 years straight.

It was my opinion that last years team may have been the best team in franchise history (not going back to the AFL days). Based on watching them play, the dominant victories, the point differential, the league rankings on both sides of the ball. They really should have been in the Super Bowl and that alone would have them in that conversation with the 90's teams.

And note, I'm not talking dynasty here, but singular season. The 2021 Bills singular season vs. any of singular 4 seasons of the 90's dynasty team.

That said, I don't see why the 90's teams have to die out from our memory.

I think most missed the OP's point in this thread.

It's like when Andre Reed made the hall of fame back in 2013/2014 ish that I think that recharged the fanbase to a certain degree for a while seeing him being honored like that.  Versus today say Steve Tasker finally gets let in the Hall of Fame, it'd be like all right cool but it's not something the fanbase would dwell on

Oh I agree, as of now the 1990 Bills team is still the best Bills team I've seen in my lifetime....the AFL Championship teams were way before my time.  I wasn't trying to say I think this current Bills team is better than the Super Bowl teams yet.

I don't think the nostalgia of the '90's SB teams will go away until the current iteration does something - win a SB, or appear in a couple of SB's......
