You blew right past your sweet spot. Too high now. You’re going to need to eat a snack or wait 20 minutes.

firstly, let’s establish Cleveland is IN Ohio. Not a good or topic.

secondly, cost of living is regional even within states.

Also congrats on the business you certainly ooze entrepreneur mentality 😂

Lastly Florida has better tax policy, weather,  is better for business, socialists seem to be out of favor there- Pretty easy dots to connect why those who can be mobile choose to go there.

I wasn’t joking when I said NJ was cheaper than Florida. It really is now. I was priced out of my comfort zone in Florida 10 years ago.  We’ve had this conversation before.

Florida is full!

Bay Harbor Island is where you want to go if you must go to Florida. Don’t settle for Orlando. Go somewhere nice.

The problem is blue staters voting blue and ***** up their states, and then when they can't take it anymore, moving to FL and voting blue and ***** that state up.

That’s because the states lack basic services and have low wages.

Where do you live?

Your problem in Jersey is property taxes are in- ***** -sane

Like New Haven or Hartford?

Ya, you’d be smart to never leave there. You won’t make nearly what you make now in Florida.

Hartford.

And yup, have a great job.  If that changes, I'll head down to FL and work part-time in a surgery center down there.

That’s where my goats come in. With goats it’s only like 5k a year. NC is more than that.

If you’re close to NYC, taxes can be 10k year, but by me I think it’s around 7k. It depends where you are.

I used to live in Manchester. Our political consultancy firm was out of there. I hated it at the time. It was so cold!

Don’t leave there. You’ll be sorry.

nah man. I think 5K in NC in a really good suburb in NC is for a 5000sqft house. Jersey is charging 20k/yr in Newark for total dumps. Your data is off. Jersey property taxes are the worst I’ve seen as percentage of property value. Worse than Buffalo which is pretty bad. It’s part of the corrupt local government death cycle.

No. You’re looking at the wrong numbers. The taxes down by Newark and the Oranges are that high because they give you the house for free. It’s a program to get people to move there and fix the area up. You just pay the property tax.

Wow! The way you describe it, It’s indentured servitude .  Forcing people to commit to 2k a month in property tax for awful school districts and dumps they have to fix? I bet it’s one of those fake do gooder programs that really turns out to lead to oppressive unintended consequences.

How jacked up is that state. I’d think being able to leach off of NYC and Philly and a shore would be  a strategic advantage. But it’s like the crappiest run state in the union. I’m surprised those that actually didn’t die from the covid wave didn’t evacuate like it’s a Biden retreat from Afghanistan…  and try to get out…. Maybe…

I live in Morris county which is right where the green meets the red in the northern part. Property taxes aren’t anywhere near 20k, but they might be 12k. Those would be pretty large homes on 1.5 acres. Probably 3k square feet with 2 car garage and deck.

Omg. You need a million dollar home here for a12k/yr property tax here and our schools are tops in the country. What are you paying for?? You don’t even have kids in school and you’re paying 12k/yr in property tax? 😂 😂

12k of property tax in a more reasonable state…. Btw top notch schools.

But you’re talking about an extra 5k in property taxes to live somewhere nice and you make almost double here. That’s what I’m telling you guys.

Chasing cheap living and property taxes in the south ended 15 years ago. Florida filled up, then everyone went to Tennessee, then Georgia, then NC.

You’re not getting a deal down there, not even in Knoxville Tennessee. Those days are long gone.

Georgia still seems to be the best bang for your buck, as far as the house you get for the money.

I can’t believe  you pay a thousand dollars a month to fund schools you don’t use in a fringe Amish Jersey outside the dump mahwah town for a 900 sqft ranch with well water.

The smart money is leaving or already did. Get ready for stagnant property values and increasing tax rates.  Hope your goat cheese is picked up by a good chef.

You’re being tricked. We have a low gas tax, no tax on food, clothing, etc. That’s money you’re spending down there each day that doesn’t come in a quarterly TAX bill. You’re getting raped in Maryland. You just don’t see it.

poor schools, small house, 50 miles from civilization, 2 hours with traffic, outdated kitchen and bathrooms,  0 walkability score and almost 15k in taxes?  That should be a 400k house. It won’t sell any time soon

Wow… suckers wanted

Gas? I’ve filled up my car 12 times in 2 years and it’s not very fuel efficient. And I don’t need someone to pump it for me btw. That’s stupid and lazy.

but maybe your right Florida has a better tax policy. Maybe Ron is running an even better m show.

In a normal market that house would probably be 400k. That’s what we’re waiting for.

2 hour commute to where? NYC? That’s too far away from the city to commute. That’s like 15 minutes west of me. In the morning that would take you an hour to get to the city. 1.5 hours to go to White Plains.

You’re not touching anything anywhere close to that nice and that lot in Florida for under 700k now. You can’t even get 1 acre lots in Florida for under 1 million, unless it’s in the sticks. Who wants to live in Ocala?

Our gas is 2.89 right now.

Walkability? Where the hell you walking to? We have some of the nicest parks around here, skiing, canoeing, tubing, hiking, biking, train right to the city, etc.

You mean like pushing a baby stroller around the neighborhood?

Well good luck to you though it’s still crazy for you to pay over a grand a month in property tax for a 400k house. I think inflation is not going to help you in the waiting game personally.

I know Florida market is blowing up because there is so much demand. Everyone is fleeing to the free state it seems.

It’s blowing up everywhere. They’re selling sheds for 300k here. Houses are listed for 3 days and they’re gone.

if you want cheaper taxes then you have to go out where I grew up. Check this place out. 6.5 acres, which means baby goat tax break. Full basement too.

10 acres dude.

Hope school. Right next to my old house. Big bucks over there. Look at the demographics. They would probably start your wife out around 75k if she got her licensing straight. It would obviously go up substantially each year in the union. Full pension. 10 very entitled kids per classroom. Ah!!!! I bet she’d like that. Does she have 30 kids per class there? Wanna be the soccer coach? OK, that’s 4 grand extra in pay. *****, you wouldn’t even need to work.

It’s a dream place to raise kids. It’s an area where you would never lock your doors. Red county. Bring your shotgun because everyone hunts turkeys before Thanksgiving!

I can see why your parents moved to Florida. They were wise.

your home area has super high taxes, pretty expensive for fixer upper homes way way out in the boonies and 4 out of 10 schools. What the heck is a regional school anyway? Does everyone call water wuh-ter? is this area where they filmed green acres?

It would be hard to find a place with houses that expensive, remotely located and schools that bad here, maybe West Virginia…

75k?? Maybe 20+ years ago that would have sounded ok

Lol. No, it’s actually where they filmed the first Jason movie. The camp is nearby. The Appalachian trail is up there. It’s by the Delaware water gap, which is basically one of the wonders of the world. Camelback and Shawnee for skiing. Mt. Airy Casino resort is nearby in the Poconos.

You’re pretty picky for a guy that grew up in the town from Hillbilly Elegy. Jeez!

Here, go take a walk in these woods. Don’t get killed by a black bear!

Walkability he says. Lol. Clown. You asked for walkability and I gave you one of the best park systems in the country and the Appalachian trail. You can’t get a better walkability score than that!

We have the better schools and it’s not close.

See now you get my point about Née Jersey. All the best thing you cited about it are in Pennsylvania. That’s no surprise since New Jersey is such a corrupt poorly run state. I bet you wish Christie was back over this *****-show you have now. I know the late night hosts miss fat shaming him (another one of those odd things that’s ok if the right political party is involved)

Maybe everything you distain about Florida is because you confuse it with  Cuba… ?

I was just in the Poconos the other day. Great hiking, rafting, but the towns themselves are really gross. I definitely wouldn’t live in Pennsylvania. You’d be making a big mistake if you did that. Your salary would be lower also.

True every hiking magazine has Jersey rated a top 50 hiking state. Isn’t the Jersey part a sidewalk next to I80? I bet that’s scenic.

There’s a bunch of scenic overlooks that you can pull off of going west on 80. The Gap is really cool.

You mean DeSantis working in Christie’s cabinet? Ron Don Jr. is definitely not going to be president. He clowned himself.

I think it’s the boring and ugly architecture that bothers me the most.

I think it's probably clear to everyone now that this seasonal endemic virus is about to hit the north......thus the Beltway media hysteria about vaccines....

No matter what....you do exactly what Florida did.  The unvaccinated are not your problem as you say so everyday here wishing them death.  Avoid the panic and hysteria and live your lives mandate free .........good luck with that in these deep blue ***t holes

Well, most of us figured it out. We’re avoiding it until it becomes a weaker seasonal strain. It will rip through red counties and R voters in blue counties and kill the unvaccinated.

Delta isn’t going to hit here like Florida. Not a chance. You guys won Delta for sure.

I cannot fathom why you think this wave is going to spare northern states. The vax rates between say PA (55%) and FL (53%) are not that different.

Maryland (62) and NY (60) are higher. As we've gone along, it seems like countries that land in the 70% range fully vaccinated are doing well. Ireland is at 90%--go Irish.
