ACLU Sues Tennessee For *Checks Notes* Making it Illegal for Prostitutes to Knowingly Spread HIV

Remember when the ACLU wasn't bats**t insane? It's been a hot minute ...

It's as if someone said the ACLU couldn't get any crazier and they took that as a challenge. Case in point:

My Brother in Law is a good dude and in college started working volunteer hours for the ACLU and gave money when he started his real job. About 10 years ago after he told me all the good they did I showed him all the crap they now represented and he stopped giving them any money. He is amazed that such a noble principle could be misused this way. I have always been more cynical so I am not.

2 things

1. great article:  https://thehill.com/opinion/congress-blog/4281108-the-deep-inequity-of-the-anti-college-movement/

2.  the band last night had a black transvestite lead singer.  he was ok.  why does every damn band have Mustang Sally in their sets?  anyway, the light in the mens room wasn't on i guess for ambiance.  I told the women who runs the center and said i'll just go in the ladies.  She said "no" and escorted me downstairs.  meanwhile the transvestite is belting out stevie wonder on stage....

And here is why she made this deal

Yes you've correctly identified why criminals take plea deals, so they'll have a lighter punishment. In RICO cases it usually comes in exchange for flipping on rest of the co-defendants.

Not to worry, "Moon" will win a slew of Oscars at an awards show no one will watch either.

Is there some sort of random hate for this movie for some reason?

I can kind of see the Hamas-Nazi comparison, but in what way is Germany and Palestine even remotely similar? How is an industrialized nation anywhere close to a besieged slum?

Don't know the ACLU's position on it, went ahead and looked into the tweet to see if anyone had anything interesting to say. One thing I thought was interesting was basically an issue was that this law is basically a hammer, there's no subtlety at all. Even if the sex worker discloses their condition and uses safe practices with their client, boom violent sex offender. So I can see how their might be some issues with the law. Also see how there is some unease with the sex offender label in general it's got a pretty serious connotation behind it that people don't really examine where it came from. Still knowingly having unsafe sex with someone who doesn't know is essentially assaulting them.

Of course, we might repeat one more time that much of the food and weapons and other goods America sends to places like Israel and Ukraine are actually made by Americans. And yet many Republican leaders (and their propaganda arm at Fox and other outlets) continue to talk about aid as if some State Department phantom in a trench coat meets the president of Ukraine or the prime minister of Israel in an alley and hands over a metal briefcase filled with neatly wrapped stacks of bills.

We need to stop asking people in diners about foreign aid. (Populists who demand that we rely on guidance from The People should remember that most Americans think foreign aid should be about 10 percent of the budget—a percentage those voters think would be a reduction but would actually be a massive increase.) Instead, put our national leaders on the spot to explain what they think foreign aid is, where it goes, and what it does, and then call them out, every time, when they spin fantasies about it. Otherwise, legislators such as Johnson will be able to sit back and let the folks at the pie counter believe that he’s going to round up $75 billion and send it back home.

Good take!! Asking people in diners works for local politics, but not for national and global politics that they cannot possibly comprehend.

Our federal government spent 4.5 trillion in 2019 and now spends north of 7 trillion, to act as though there is some competent experts in charge is simply ignorance. I will state with certainty you have never had a serious conversation with any of these people who "make these decisions" because they have a few more facts at their disposal but their decision making ability is not impressive.

doesn't matter...S Carolina, Mississipi, Tenn and Louisiana are already terribly polluted.  And many MAGA's live there.  Of course, there's always collateral damage.
