Kamala’s first foray into international diplomacy does not go well

by Andrea Widburg

The most relentless slander the Democrats leveled against President Trump was that he was a racist.

(snip)

Mixed race Kamala would bring her intersectional chops to the Latinx politicians and all would be well. Except nothing went well. Kamala, whom I’ve always been told by people who know her, is as dumb as a box of rocks with the personality of an arch narcissist, managed to leave President Lopez Obrador in a towering rage, furious at American machinations and deeply offended when she simply walked out on him.

12+ Iranian Gunboats Swarm 6 U.S. Warships, Dozens Of Warning Shots Fired

Iranian military gunboats with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terrorist organization, swarmed several U.S. warships on Monday that were escorting a U.S. submarine.

“Over a dozen Iranian gunboats harass formation of six U.S. warships including guided-missile submarine Georgia,” Fox News Pentagon correspondent Lucas Tomlinson said. “U.S. Coast Guard cutter fired warning shots in response in Strait of Hormuz.”

The 13 Iranian military vessels reportedly came within 150 yards of U.S. Forces, which fired 30 warning shots at the Iranian vessels. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby called the incident “significant” since previous incidents had involved fewer vessels.

The Biden administration, which is seeking to restart the nuclear deal with Iran, has offered soft words during other recent encounters where Iranian military vessels harass U.S. Forces.

In the Middle East, Biden is finishing what Obama started. And his top advisers are all on board.

The alarm in Jerusalem is justified, if the May 1 statement by Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s lead negotiator in Vienna, is anything to go by. The American negotiators, he claimed, had already agreed in principle to remove sanctions on Iran’s energy sector, automotive industry, financial services, banking industry, and ports—to eliminate, in other words, all of the most significant economic sanctions ever imposed on Iran. Recent statements from Biden administration officials give us no reason to disbelieve Araghchi, and the smart money is now on a full resurrection of the JCPOA in relatively short order.

But even the Israelis have yet to absorb the full scope and magnitude of Biden’s accommodation of Iran. The problem is not that Sullivan and Blinken are failing to restrain Malley, but that they are marching in lockstep with him. A consensus reigns inside the administration, not just on the JCPOA but on every big question of Middle East strategy: Everyone from the president on down agrees about the need to complete what Obama started—which means that the worst is yet to come.

At this point — and we’re less than four months in — my best hope for the Biden Administration is that they don’t get us into more than one major war

Thats why we haven't seen the US Ambassador on the news

Biden Administration Flounders in Middle East With Inability to Name an Ambassador to Israel

https://redstate.com/shipwreckedcrew/2021/05/17/biden-administration-flounders-in-middle-east-with-inability-to-name-an-ambassador-to-israel-n381583

Ambassador or not the administration's apparent unwavering support for Israel and its desire to rekindle the nuclear deal with Iran are simply incompatible.  The Israeli government has clearly stated a nuclear Iran is not acceptable under any circumstances and they view any re-establishment of the nuclear deal exited by the Trump administration to be a threat that must be addressed.  And Iran views Israel as a enemy which it cannot negotiate or compromise with under any circumstances.

By the rules established over the last 4 years, this absolutely means Putin has a puppet in the WH.

Now if the evil one who's name shall not be spoken had made this decision?  Well we can imagine the level of outrage and calls for investigations and perhaps another impeachment show trial.  At a minimum hearings held by Rep. Schiff's committee with lots of cameras and drama along with all the major networks featuring the story 24/7.  But as it was JB making the call here the event will be relegated to the back page while social media censors block and delete any negative comments about removing the sanctions.

As the pipeline is about 95% complete it was obvious the sanctions were not going to stop the project from going operational.  And Germany was adamant that this project be completed.  So removing the sanctions make sense from the view that the US is giving its "consent" for the project to be completed rather than looking like a failure when it competes and the sanctions are seen as ineffective.

The other thing in play here is how it will impact the balance of power and events in Ukraine where all the revenue the country sees via gas transit fees may soon disappear.  It provides the Russians a bit more leverage over the situation by providing a mechanism to divert that gas flow and still get it to its customer in Western Europe.  I suspect one of the assurances the US  (under both Trump & Biden) gave the Kiev government in return for their obedience with the US agenda here was that the administration would block NordStream2.  This is obviously off the table now and perhaps the Ukraine government will begin the question the US strategy which puts them in the firing line?

So Putin 2, Biden 0 here.

"Getting Results"

Can’t make this up: Sec. of State Blinken “calls for cooperation with Russia to make world ‘safer.’”

Similarly, Ted Cruz notes, “[B]asically what Joe Biden has decided is pipelines in America, bad. Jobs in America, bad. Pipelines in Russia, good. Jobs in Russia, good. And this is exactly backward. It is asinine. And four months into it, Joe Biden is crawling in bed with Putin and Russia and the enemies of America. It doesn’t make any sense.”

Flashback: So is it fair to ask if Biden is on the payroll of Putin?

As Walter Russell Mead wrote in 2017:

If Trump were the Manchurian candidate that people keep wanting to believe that he is, here are some of the things he’d be doing:

Limiting fracking as much as he possibly could
Blocking oil and gas pipelines
Opening negotiations for major nuclear arms reductions
Cutting U.S. military spending
Trying to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran.

“Yep,” Glenn added in late 2019. “You know who did do these things? Obama.

You know who supports these things now? Democrats.”
