Jaguars to decline DT Marcell Dareus' option

I’d take him cheap to replace Phillips. He can be a rotational 3 technique and be effective.

It’s all about risk/reward. Anyone talking about his contract or off the field issues is missing the point. He’s not coming here as a high-priced star. He’d be a “buy-low” high upside piece. He’d rotate in on the DL.

why do you feel he would he high upside ?

Or was the "high " part sarcasm.         No way McD wants this guy regardless of fit form and function

He was changed from 3 tech attacker to a 0tech plug

The worst statistical position in football

He was my favorite player for a long time. Even when he 'mailed it in" watch him take doubles without giving a foot, and shed and make the stop

He was unlockable 1 on 1

agreed but now he can focus on his Nautical pursuits.

He’s been good in that role before. You are talking about a guy that is going to be cheap. You can’t get his ability for the price that he will be getting. He’s going to go from a bad contract to a good contract.

Kick them big fat tires.

Dareus and Oliver.  Sign me up as long as he isn’t a bad influence.

In theory based on talent and scheme fit ? Sure
But no. he might ruin Oliver, who has already spent too much time with "pay me" J Phillips

Gruden will take a chance on him.

Possibly.

 I see your point.

But he already has the all the monies. What becomes his motivator ?

Probably, I’m sure he’s learned jack squat since dealing with Antonio Brown

He just signed Richie to an extension! If that doesn’t work out he has Zay Jones and Nathan Peterman lined up for renovation.

He actually didn’t play bad last year and was one of the bright spots on their offense. They probably had to re sign him as well cause they don’t have anyone to replace him with lol

Yes he played fine but he’s like 52 now and still thinks he works for the FBI

LOL I’m pretty sure next year is going to be his last. He’s taken too many hits to the head. I didn’t know it was that bad, I mean I know the whole wanting to decapitate his dead father and the gym fight and hearing voices, but I didn’t know about him saying he works for the FBI😂😂🤣🤣

😂 It would be amazing if they trade Carr away and are unable to get Brady and have to settle with Peterman as the starter🤣🤣🤣

Marcell Dareus' time with the Jacksonville Jaguars has presumably come to an end.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Jags intend to decline the defensive tackle's $19.5 million option. Jacksonville had until Feb. 25 to make the decision.

The 'Training Table' overhead was just too extreme...

That he still wants to play...again.  Not realistic and I don't think it will happen, at least not in Buffalo.

He's a bum...

Also his play has regressed the last two years in Jacksonville, he’s not playing at a high level anymore. That defense had a shot to go to the super bowl in 17 and they got killed by bad QB play from Bortles

Unreal how bad they regressed. Also feel Telvin Smith semi retiring was a big part. Dude is that good

As his career fizzled in buffalo I started to believe he just wasn’t a guy that loved playing football anymore

might be wrong.  But if correct, not wanted by this FO

Not sure if you remember that game correctly. 10 point lead on the Pats in the 4th. Leo Fournette averaged like 1 YPC in the 4th Q. Defense let up 14 to Brady in the fourth.

I don’t think he ever wants to come back to Buffalo. I remember he didn’t have nice things to say about us and the coaching staff after he got traded, I think he said he felt betrayed or something to that degree

Not to mention the outstanding warrants.

Any recent examples of guys earning massive amounts of money over previous 5 years and  signing a minimum deal elsewhere and being good?

Doubt it would be a long list..

Phillips played well for two years off the Miami scrap heap. He didn't complain and he's earned his payday. Why crap on him?

Pay him League minimum and bring him in to take Jordan Phillips spot and back up Ed Oliver at 3 technique.

HE FELT BETRAYED. Every Bills fan, every Bills season ticket holder was  betrayed by this piece of work. We held his little hand to get him through a crisis paid him for a future he promised and then he did nothing except smoke weed and ate munchies. HE BETRAYED THE BILLS AND THE FANS.
