Where did I say I would? I am not quite a strict BPA. I think you start with the BPA principle and then have a bias towards the premium positions.

I didn't know for sure if you were, that was why I asked the question first.  My bad.

I agree with you in terms of bias towards premium positions.  To me I just think DE/Edge Rusher is more likely in the 1st with WR in the 2nd than anything.

...from the TBD combine analysis here, sure sounds like the WR class is as "good if not better than advertised".....if so, anybody still looking to sign a FA in addition to WR draft pick(s)?.......

I think it's pretty imperative that we do.

Not bringing in another vet that can start (even if it's just someone cheap and not special like Funchess) would create the need for a WR that can step in and start right away, meaning you can probably cross some of the interesting guys (Denzel Mims, Laviska Shenault, Justin Jefferson) off the list. I'm definitely hoping that we sign/trade for someone so that we have all options open to us in the draft.

TLDR, Pauline spoke to teams last night/this morning and came back with the following:

  • Justin Jefferson is now on the Round 1 radar.
  • Denzel Mims is locked in as a 2nd rounder.
  • Michael Pittman could be a late 2nd rounder.
  • Teams were disappointed in CeeDee Lamb's athleticism.
  • Laviska Shenault expected to be a 2nd rounder.
  • Jalen Reagor is still on the 1st round radar, but teams want to see how he times at his Pro Day. They say he was laser-timed in the low 4.3's in the lead up to the Combine.

...who would be your complementary vet signing and at what cost?............

I agree with that. Cos otherwise the Bills need to look for someone who can be a number 1 receiver and Shenault and Jefferson ain't it for my money. Not looked at Mims yet.

My dream would be to still get AJ. Think he's pretty much perfect; we can give him a big short-term contract now and basically wash him off our cap sheets by the time we really need the money.

I don't expect him to come here though. Absent that, I'd probably be calling teams to see if anyone is available for trade; would obviously depend who it is.

If we have to go the free agency route (and assuming AJ is off the table), I'm fine with it being an unexciting move like Funchess, Geronimo, Agholor, Paul Richardson, etc. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go for Richardson.

Mims can get there, but you'll see when you put his film on...he's about as polished as Metcalf was, maybe less. And certainly is not the press-beating machine that Metcalf was.

I would absolutely love to take a chance on Mims, but I need us to have a starting option ahead of him.

I can promise you that teams are putting out bad press about CeeDee hoping he’ll drop.

That was my immediate thought too lol. The other stuff all makes sense though, though I’m higher on Pittman than the rest of the world apparently is

I love the underwear Olympics hype. My favorite event is still the 10 yard split for DTs. That said, while we’ve seen some great feats of athleticism from the WRs, I doubt anyone’s 40 time, vertical, or broad jump is gonna move the needle much in the eyes of most teams. It’s all about how the athleticism displayed at the combine matches up with what they’ve put on video over the course of their careers.
