It's a reach for more reasons than one, but if Biden wins, and the Dems retain the House, he is hoping to be selected as the new VP when Joe ultimately resigns.\ Bank it... 1

ALF Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 (edited) 'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage." "This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7. In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu. Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine." The book, using Trump's own words, depicts a President who has betrayed the public trust and the most fundamental responsibilities of his office. In "Rage," Trump says the job of a president is "to keep our country safe." But in early February, Trump told Woodward he knew how deadly the virus was, and in March, admitted he kept that knowledge hidden from the public. "I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19, even as he had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic." If instead of playing down what he knew, Trump had acted decisively in early February with a strict shutdown and a consistent message to wear masks, social distance and wash hands, experts believe that thousands of American lives could have been saved. The startling revelations in "Rage," which CNN obtained ahead of its September 15 release, were made during 18 wide-ranging interviews Trump gave Woodward from December 5, 2019 to July 21, 2020. The interviews were recorded by Woodward with Trump's permission, and CNN has obtained copies of some of the audio tapes. https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/bob-woodward-rage-book-trump-coronavirus/index.html Edited September 9, 2020 by ALF

KD in CA Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Quote Cuomo said that he wouldn't allow indoor dining in NYC to resume until there was a designated group assigned to patrolling it Sooooo.....the problem is not enough loyal enforcement agents to mandate compliance with the unquestioned policies of the ruler. Huh. In other news, when can we get rid of Trump and all the 'right wing fascists'? 1
snafu Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 City indoor dining will start with restrictions on September 30. Here is an email I received from the City: Dear small business partner, With COVID-19 positivity rates hovering at or below 1% for over a month, we are excited to announce that restaurants will be able to offer limited indoor dining beginning on September 30th! This is a huge win for our small business community, and we are so grateful to all New Yorkers for the hard work that went into keeping COVID-19 rates so low. Early Guidance for Indoor Dining Restaurants will be allowed to reopen for indoor dining beginning on September 30th. They will be subject to rigorous inspection protocols and strict occupancy limits. Some requirements for restaurants include: Serve customers at a maximum of 25% capacity Conduct temperature checks at every front door Collect Test & Trace data from at least one customer at each table Close bar tops for seating Offer COVID-19 protections like PPE for employees Space tables six feet apart If New York City hits 2% in COVID-19 positivity rates, the City will immediately reassess. Once indoor dining begins, the public will be able to call 833-208-4160 to make a report or text VIOLATION to 855-904-5036. Please continue to watch for emails from us as more information will be shared in the coming weeks leading up to September 30th. 1

I don't think this will stop that lawsuit from going forward as 25% capacity will not allow the restaurants to meet costs, let alone make a profit. 2

Well I believe that the City is slow-rolling it to see how “back to school” goes. If there’s no spike then I’m of the opinion that we will see 50%. Then the next big step is what they do when the weather turns cold and outdoor seating becomes impossible. I’ll check out the link you posted but it’s my impression that it is a loser argument to force the City to relax restrictions quicker than they want to (whether I agree with that or not). 1
Buffalo_Gal Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Heck of a job, Andy. Like many others, we are now looking elsewhere to live (not Florida, been there, done that, too hot for me). 1 1
